Surprisingly tasty
January 23, 2011
My husband and I just completed a 2 week backpacking/.hiking trip in Patagonia. It was arduous, hard work, and we had to find food that was tasty, warm, lightweight and had sufficient calories to sustain us for two weeks. Ultimately, we went with AlpineAire freezedried food the whole way, and it didn't disappoint. I had expected less of freezedried food than it turned out to be. Almost every flavour we bought was both tasty and filling. The chicken primavera was one of our favourites. In terms of the quantity, it says "serves 2", but after a long day of backpacking, we could have hoovered down a pack each. Ultimately, if you share it between 2 people (as we did, because we were trying to keep weight to the minimum), it's enough to be sufficient, but not enough to fill you up. Especially so if one (or both!) of the 2 is an adult man. One of the biggest plusses with this food is the cleaning factor. You can just boil water and cook the food in the pack itself, which means you don't really have to clean anything after you're done - a fantastic perk especially if you're cold or short of water.
Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, tasty, light, adds varietyDid you recently buy the AlpineAire Foods Chicken Primavera - Serves 2? Write a review.
Great for backpacking, hiking and camping.

Prepares easy, right in the bag. Just tear open the top of the bag and add boiling water per the instructions on the bag. Tastes good. It definitely is adequate for two people of my wife and my build. I am 5'10" and 155lbs, my wife is 5'6" and 110lbs.
