Absolutely necessary for dropping the knee while tele skiing, the Arc'teryx Knee Caps aren't just for skiers, they're equally as useful for snowboarders, ice climbers, cavers, shooters and skaters – basically anyone who wants to go home without a shattered knee cap or a broken leg.
Made from durable, cushioning EV50® foam, these Arc'teryx knee pads have a hard Kydex® shell for protection against ice, rocks and trees. Weighing only 8 ounces, these knee protectors are lightweight with a low profile fit and an anatomical shape to keep you agile and moving naturally. The two elastic straps with T-lock quick-release buckles are easy to adjust, wide for a comfortable ride and will cover any leg size. Wear them under your ski pants when you're headed off-piste into deep snow or pull them on over your tactical cargo pants, the Knee Caps won't damage your clothing.
If you ask any serious athlete about wearing knee pads they'll tell you that they feel naked without them. Ask an athlete about the Arc'teryx Knee Caps, and they'll probably tell you they already own a pair.
Light weight abut not durable

Light weight abut not durable. I bought these for Altrec 6 month ago and there are already broken They protect and allow you to kneel comfortably on snow, ice or rock. They are so minimal that I am using them for snow boarding and ice climbing now.
Pros: Performance, Cons: Wears quickly, Poor qualityProtect those knees!

These pads saved my knees when I was learning to snowboard and telemarking.... You put them on under your pants and nobody can tell you're wearing them. I don't even notice that I am wearing them, they are so light and comfortable. I don't want to take any chances with my knees. I STRONGLY recommend them for any beginner snowboarder or avid tele skier.

This is my first knee cap, so I can not compare how good this knee cap is, but it fits very nice, and protect very very well. it is little pricey, but knee is one of most important part of our body, so its worth the investment. I highly recommend this knee cap

simple basic knee pad

it works well , but must be worn on top of something or your knees will get rubbed out from the pressure of the rubber inside .i used em for snow boarding and had to take em off after a couple hours .
Pros: Build quality, Ease of useGood knee pads for boarders

Good knee pads for snow-boarder as we tend to spend more time on our knees. Fairly comfortable fit under the shell and over the base layer with its adjustable straps. The hard outer shell offers superior protection from icy or other hard surface kneels but the underside padding can be reinforced as these pads offer little to shock absorption or protection from frictional abrasion. After a full days use, knees emerged a bit sore yet sufficiently protected attesting to the need for a thicker and softer padding. Perhaps a gel insert would perfect this otherwise 'good' light weight knee pads.

I bought these arcteryx knee caps for inline skate. They are perfect and lightweight. The design is simple but very impressive, black and white arcteryx logo. They look a little big, maybe bcoz this is one size for all. When I put them on, especially outside the pants, they fit very well. Highly recommend.

Good but not the best

As a beginner snowboarder, I bought these for my trip to Mont Tremblant, Canada. I fell alot and when I fell on the kneepads, they worked great. However, they tend to shift around a bit (especially if you fall alot) and I ended up with a few extra bruises from times when the kneepads shifted out of place. I will continue to use them, but I would probably buy a different brand next time.
very nice

I use these for fast roping out of helocopters and while parachuting they work great. Also when running around the city they are great. There is plenty of protection for how small they are. I also never have to worry about them sliding down to my ankles. They stay in place all the time.
Arc'teryx: Knee Caps are great

I joined a ski patrol and had problems with knee and back pain when kneeling a lot doing drills. Once I got these knee caps, the pain was gone. They are so comfortable you don't know you have them on.
like them

I like these a lot. They are light weight and comfortable. I can't believe I used to ski without them. I don't anymore. One thing though, they should use a Fastex buckle or something similar for quick attachment. The buckles that come with these require that the strap must be threaded through a slot in the buckle every time you put them on. I'd prefer that they just clip in. That is the only reason I did not give these 5 stars.
Good for multipurpose

I like to use them for climbing and snow sports. So far had them for one year and they have held up pretty well. The only complaint is that after a few hours of wear they can get a little loose. Good thing they adjust very easily back to a good fit.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueGreat Product

These knee pads have worked great. They do not slide down my leg while walking and they are so light I constantly check to see if whether or not they have fallen off.
