Great Rain Protection
Just got this jacket for got to for rainy outdoor activities. Wore it last night as outer layer while skiing in the rain, the rain just beaded up and fell off the jacket, it performed well and I was kept dry. It is super light as described. Large hood which can go over helmets. I am 6ft 1", 175 lbs, athletic build, ordered the large which fits well, allows for several layers underneath as well. Very happy with purchase thus far, price always an issue but quality seems to be there with this company, cannot fully comment on how durable this will be.

Doesn't get any better than this!
Outstanding Arcteryx quality as usual!
Packs small, weighs nothing, durable, breathable, and of course totally waterproof!
Previously owned precip jacket which was not as breathable, fit poorly and eventually the membrane started to delaminate.
Arcteryx quality is 100 times better - but at a higher price!

always bet on Arc'Teryx
I spent way too much time looking for a rain coat. Let me save you some time.... YES, it's worth the money. If you are familiar with Arc'Teryx, then you already know the answer - Arc'Teryx delivers yet another solid QUALITY product. Sure, I haven't worn it in a torrential rainfall (yet); however, for years I've been unprepared and wet too many times in The Highlands of Scotland (Isle of Skye), Costa Rican Rainforest, London (with no help from an umbrella), Canadian Rockies, all over New Zealand's South Island, and right here in Texas. Enough. It was time to invest. Only debate should be Arc'Teryx Beta SL vs Alpha SL. As much as I liked the Deep Dusk in the Beta SL... I ended up going with the Carbon Copy Alpha SL for a couple of reasons. BOTH have GoreTex PacLite (and it IS light); however, for $50 more, you get laminated pit zips and slightly longer length for more needed coverage. Beta SL felt a bit short. Plus, the Alpha SL works incredibly well as a hard shell with a fleece underneath, or on its own with a t-shirt for when the weather is humid (like here in Texas). That's where the pit zips will make the difference. Looking forward to really putting it to use hiking in Julian Alps (Slovenia) and Austrian Alps in May. Stop debating.

Excellent!
This jacket is very light, and is strong. Moreover, because it is possible to fold small, it is convenient. All processes from use in the town to use in the mountain can be used anytime and anywhere. It recommends it very much.

Great Jacket from Arc'Teryx
I purchased this jacket as I was looking for a bomber lightweight shell for mountain biking and emergency use. This jacket fits the bill as it is extremely lightweight yet the fabric is ultra durable. My only complaint is that if you have a long waist like I do, you will find this jacket to be rather short. I ended up returning it for this reason but I still highly recommend the product!!!

Great product, I was sceptical of a product with such a high price. But once I put it to the test in the rain and snow, I was impressed. Also, it is stylish and packable....what more do you need. Thank you again ALTREC for a quality product!!!

Warm climate winner
I've gotten by without a goretex jacket for a long time as most of my hiking is done in warmer climates and I was worried about being too hot. This jacket has changed my mind totally, it's light and waterproof, yet not too hot for southern california in a rainstorm. With the underarm zippers the jacket is perfect in the south and as a top layer over a fleece in the north. Arterycx is pricey but it rocks !!

Expensive but well built
I'm 5'11" and I weigh 170 pounds. I purchased the medium and it fits snug in the waist. The construction is excellent. Some reviews complained about the large hood but Arc'Teryx has built-in four methods of adjustment to cinch it down to the user's liking. I've also owned the Beta SL and for $50 more you get pit zips and a slightly longer skirt. I think it makes the Alpha significantly more versatile and worth investing $50 more over the Beta.

Great light hardshell
Absolutely, it's very useful for some easy outdoor activities. Although it 's not more excellent than Alpha SV for those severe weather, It 's lighter and easy to take, Moreover, it 's more breathable.

Great, year-round useable
Great for skiing, with a couple warm layers under. Equally great for a hot rainy summer day. Packs into very little space, weighs nothing, yet gives up nothing in functionality. Very comfortable, hood and neck really well designed for comfort and weather resistance. I'm on my second one - excellent jacket.

The best jacket out there!
I own stuff from Marmot and other top brands. I was skeptical about Arcteryx, but this thing is incredible. I wore it the other weekend in Rocky Mountain National Park and the wind was blowing 50-60mph and I was nice and warm in this thing. It is half the weight of another shell I wore the weekend before on the Dunes, and even though the wind was half as strong that weekend and I had an additional layer on, I was cold. I am not going anywhere without this jacket again!

super rain jacket
Received this as a gift for Christmas. Best jacket I ever had. Stylish comfy and rain proof. The fit is a little more streamlined than other brands but looks and feels good (in my regular size). Thanks to mh girlfriend I am now turned on to Arcteryx. I will never go back!

Awesome jacket
I bought this jacket without having touched an equivalent in a store. It's lighter than the lightest gore-tex product I've ever worn. It looks pretty cool for a gore-tex jacket. I plan on wearing it as a hard shell for outdoor stuff this fall, and for skiing this winter. I don't like big jackets; I prefer layering. Based on just getting my hands on it, I think it should be good. If it's not, I'll get back on here and complain about it. It got here really fast too, which is not always the case where I am.

Great Jacket, Big Hood!
This is an excellent jacket!!! It surpassed my expectations, but that's no surprise for this companies attention to detail and quality. It keeps you very dry and works great as a hard shell (I'm using it with a fleece for skiing). Please NOTE the big hood, I was taken by surprise how large it was, it's made to be helmet compatible. Although there are multiple draw cords to fix this. Although, this would not defer me from purchasing it. I enjoy the pocket placement. I enjoy the fit, it's a very good, athletic fit. I would defiantly recommend this to everyone!!!

top brand top quality
Bought this jacket after a long search, I had my eyes on Beta SL and this Alpha SL as my rain jacket. Bought but returned the Beta SL, it's just too short. Alpha sl is little longer and mixes a slim fit with the right amount of room. Its ultralight and the hood fits well over my big head. Very satisfied!

Ultralight and Completely Waterproof
The Alpha SL does exactly what it was designed to do and does it perfectly. It's no frills, made from super light yet durable and waterproof Gore-tex Paclite, it's light enough to pack anywhere and when the storm hits it will keep you dry. This jacket is another example of Arcteryx quality. I love the wasabi and brilliant blue colors, very unique and vibrant but there's black too if you prefer something more subtle. I think the red zipper on the front adds a nice touch to the overall style of the jacket.

Lightweight- but tough, great all-arounder
This jacket fits nicely into the world of 4 season use- designed very lightweight can be worn in summer storms and also layered over fleece or softshell for winter insanity! great trim but full fit (do not agree it runs small, runs right on target for Arc'teryx stuff- great construction and also made in Canada which is what you want compared to a nice Vietnamese piece- breathes and fends off weather assaults, good deal!
