Great Midlayer Fleece
I was looking for a 200 weight midlayer with the new thermal pro feece technology from Polartec -- I think this may be the only one on the market. The tweed fabric on the outside was a unique plus, and the laminated patches on the elbows help compenste for the high cost of the garment. I can wear it with my Patagonia simple guide jacket down to 30 degrees while walking the dog. When combined with a down sweater, I've taken this piece to just below 20 degrees and felt warm. If you are willing to spend the extra dollars, you won't be dissapointed. The only way I would improve upon its design would be to install an internal pocket, rather than the laminated pocket on the chest - which would make it more city-friendly.

Very Well Made...
I'm very keen on details and this product is exceptional. The manufacturing is top notch and looks like it's built to last. I was drawn to Arc'Teryx because the majority of their clothing is base on 'sport fit'. I ordered the medium and it maybe a tad small, so I will try the large. I will try other Arc'Teryx items, like their jackets and pants. Arc'Teryx is higher on the pricing scale, but well worth it.

Great Mid Base Layer
I purchased this for a trip to Canada in Jan. This Mid layer is excellent in fit, not too baggy, not to tight. I purchased a large (5'11" 180 lbs) and it will have the right amount of room for base layers. I love having the ability to zip up the neck if I am getting the chill or zip down if I am getting to warm. Having the ability of adjusting your layers from zipped up to zipped down is a huge plus to keep the sweat from chilling the body. Yes Arcteryx is know for its quality and with that you tend to invest more so than other brands. I can tell you that any expedition I take will be based on Arcteryx gear. Oh and the front pocket is good for items like cell phones (mine is in its protective case) and it fits comfortably.

Great to wear to keep warm
I'm a fan of Arc'teryx gear and this item did not disappoint. I bought it to wear under my hard shell and it worked beautifully. I was kept warm, maybe too warm, when I wore it in temperatures below 30F.
The material is much thicker then the pictures would suggest. The fit was spot-on. I ordered a L and I have a 42" chest.
Would definitely recommend this to stay warm.

Perfect Jacket
This jacket is great for anything. It fits well and is true to size. Perfect for when you need to grab something for a hike or even around town. The quality is amazing and durable.
August 11, 2011
Great multi purpose fleece
Arc quality fleece top which wears very well, a little thicker than the Delta line so it works well as a sweater in colder temps. Probably about a 200 in fleece thickness, works very well as a warming layer in a shell, the zip works great for shedding heat. I gave the durability a good but that is only because I have not had the fleece that long, Arc quality probably means it will last for a loooooong time. Fitting is typical, I need a xlarge even though I usually take a large size. I am very happy with this fleece and Altrec always make the shopping experience positive.

Top Notch
I would recommend the Arcteryx Apache pullover to anyone looking for a pullover that is lightweight and very comfortable. The only drawback is the price and its inability to stand up to a thorough washing. However, this product lives up to the Arcteryx standard.

Expensive but...
This is a great fleece sweater and durable midlayer.
It is a light and warm(only a windless day). But it dosen't keep your body heat against wind.
So, it isn't fit for mountaineering a stand alone in cold weather but it is extremely warm in some ferociously cold weather under goretex hardshell.
Expensive but stylish good look.

classy sweater
I bought this as one of my first Arc'teryx items for the wardrobe for the office not the crag. I was drawn to the wool sweater weave look and the professor like patches on the elbows. Pocket zip is very flush and non-bulky yet still holds a cell phone or slim wallet or pen and flip pad. It has held up well to office abuses (coffee spills, tea and pen marks) and rec'd a few compliments. I wear it often with a tie and jeans. I got it in buckwheat (gold) a good autumn to winter color.

Perfect midlayer and it looks great
The Apache AR zip is a perfect midlayer to either go under a shell or by itself on milder days. I'm 6'1" 165 lbs with a 33 waist and the medium fit me perfectly. Although I usually buy a large for most products, with Arcteryx sizes, a medium fits better for me. I also tried the Patagonia R1 pullover. I liked the R1, but it wasn't quite warm enough for me. Also, I just liked the looks of the Apache AR much better than the Patagonia R1. This fleece looks like it is not going to ball very much except under harsh conditions. It does like to collect lint when the humidity is low.

Great for layering
I wear this pullover for layering in frigid conditions. It keeps you pretty warm, and it is not baggy at all. My only complaint is that the description on the website makes the pullover appear much browner than it actually is. Mine is more green than brown. The pullover is very refined and sophisticated, and I think I made a good purchase.
January 24, 2011
great ski sweater
This is a wonderful mid weight top - I use it as a middle layer under a ski jacket - its not too bulky and fits well under the ski jacket. It is loose fitting and not too long. I am a women's XL. but find the Men's Large is a better fit. with the zipper top - it softens the look and makes it great for me ( a woman) or my husband who wants to borrow it. Also love the pocket - easily fits a room key, credit card and a few dollars.
January 9, 2011
light insulating
I love the way this fits. Great high tech material that is soft and warm. Nice cuffs on the sleeves. Very well made.
December 29, 2010
Men's Apache AR Zip
This fleece has turned out to be better than I'd hoped... it looks great, very nice quality, comes out of the wash looking brand new, and makes a perfect mid layer for skiing. A little on the spendy side, and worth every penny.
December 24, 2010
this jacket fits nice to the body good for bushwhacking. nice and warm yet breathable great for mountain climates. very nice
December 9, 2010
Great as a gift
I bought this for my brother who is a bigger guy and the sizing recommendation was just right for a fitted look. He found it to be enough to wear just that to go out on a cool night (say temps in the 50s).
December 6, 2010
I am generally a big fan of Arc'teryx. This item has a solid build and good durability. It does wear a bit on the small side.
December 5, 2010
My absolute favorite base layer- bought them last year and it looks like I just took them out of the package! I am 5'7 and the medium fits great, and works under a thick jacket. I have two of these and I wear them on the real cold days, have worn them on not so cold days and I tend to find myself overheating.
December 4, 2010
Technical AND good looking
One of my favorite Arcteryx items. Warm Thermal Pro fleece but has a wool tweedy look to it. Good as a mid-to-heavyweight insulating layer, but looks good enough to wear by itself around town. I especially like the elbow patches to reduce wear. Farily trim fit, as Acteryx should be. I'm 6-3 220 lb and the XL fits great, but snug.
November 11, 2010
Great purchase
I bought this for my husband last Christmas (2009) and it still looks brand new almost a year later. He loves it and wears it quite frequently on cold days. This was a great purchase.
November 10, 2010
very warm
Very light and warm. I feel this could be the outer layer in California for the whole winter. The fit is toward large comparing to other Arcteryx I owned. overall very satified.
November 10, 2010
Outstanding. I bought this last year. It has held up well. Warm and very comfortable. Soft. Looks great. Fits true to size.Great as shirt with or without layering. If layering, use thin lightweight base layer. Will consider buying another as gift during holidays to my sons. Arc'teryx products are durable and look great they are athletic fit without much room underneath for anything but thin, light base layer.
November 1, 2010
it's well made, light but very warm. unlike the newer arcteryx jackets, like my gamma lt, this one is true to size and is not big and loose. overall i like this product very much
October 13, 2010
Top of the line
I had bought this to use a mid-layer while skiing. When the shipment arrived and I tried it on, was extremely pleased with the fit and style that I decided that it's definitely nice enough to wear as an outside layer on cool fall days. Another great product from Arc'teryx.
September 12, 2010
Another great product from Arc'teryx
Very comfortable and relatively light weight. Fit is sporty and it has weathered many outings without a scratch. This is one of my favorite pullovers to wear for just about any condition. It is not as compressible as some of the lighter weight pullovers but it makes up for that in durability. Great product!
May 10, 2010
great!
Apache AR zip is a light insulating layer that's perfect alone on sunny days or layered beneath a waterproof and breathable shell when hiking in cool weather conditions.
April 14, 2010
Superlative quality. Excellent slim fit, robust materials
I love everything from this company which I've purchased, because the quality of materials and workmanship and the functionality of their designs are top notch.
April 5, 2010
Fantastic fit - great looks!
This is my first Arc'teryx purchase having been a Pategonia and North Face guy for a long time. I love it! I am 5'-10", 185 lbs and the medium is perfect.
March 20, 2010
Versatile mid layer and the laminated arm patches are great
This is now my "go to" layer for just about any activity. The fit is athletic but comfortable and the style is very versatile. Compared to the Covert Cardigan this piece appears to be a little more robust. The laminated arm patches should help prevent wear and are a great feature. Recommended!
February 16, 2010
So great I bought 2!
The moment you pull this jacket it on you feel the warmth and perfect fit. While I am a Patagonia fan, this one is equal to or better than any R2 or R3. After wearing it in one color I bought another in black and just enjoy the casual, yet fitted look to the jacket.
January 18, 2010
Good Lookin!
Bought this for my oldest son and it is a great midweight jacket for our north Alabama winters!
January 12, 2010
Great color, well made
This is a great fleece -- super soft and warm. Bought it for the boyfriend for Christmas. Only complaint: he's 6 ft tall and 175 lbs with a broad chest... he was right in between the medium and the large. The large was too bulky through the middle but the medium is nearly too short.
January 5, 2010
layering with style
A great fleece. Very comfortable, very soft. I wear it almost everybody. It also looks really good. I am 5'8" and 155lb, the medium fits me perfectly. I highly recommend this piece.
January 4, 2010
Great fit & stylin' look
Love the fit & has same cut as my Gamma MX, so they make a dynamic duo. The Apache is pricey but very well constructed, comfortable and warm.
December 28, 2009
Nice!!
Typical Arc fit. Sleeve and torso length perfect for my 5'7" 155lb frame in size Medium. Nice, warm, midweight fleece material with cool elbow wear protection making it ideal as casual townwear as well as an outerlayer on warmer spring days on the slope. Can't be Altrec customer service and sale price either! :)
December 26, 2009
Great pullover for layering
This is a great example of the perfect layering Polartec top. It is very warm by itself, but also is a great heat preserver underneath a hard shell.
December 15, 2009
Snug fit, repels water
The fit is closer to the body than the covert zip. It also a little more wind resistant. Works well under a soft-shell.
December 15, 2009
Great Sweater!
Very warm and soft. True to size.
December 15, 2009
Wear it everyday
I love this thing. I wear it everyday, it's really comfortable. It has a very soft wool-like fleece material. It works great in cool temperatures alone, but wind blows through this thing and the bottom of it doesn't wrap tightly around my waist so wind blows up my shirt. However if it gets below freezing, you can tuck it in and put a shell over it. The fleece sort of repels water, and if it does get wet (like submerged in water), it evaporates much faster than cotton does. As a mid-layer and I think it'd be adequate to around 15 degrees with activity. Well-made.
December 11, 2009
I Like the Covert Better
I own both the Apache and several Arc'teryx Coverts. While the Apache is a very nice sweater, for $11 more I prefer the Covert. The Covert is a little more substantial than the Apache (15.7 oz vs 13.6 oz - from the Arc'teryx website), which is nice if you're buying for warmth. The Covert also looks more like a traditional sweater, not having the nylon pocket on the breast or the nylon forearm patches. On the other hand, the Apache is easier to get on and off since it's a 1/2 zip as opposed to the 1/4 zip of the Covert. A caution on sizing, as someone else mentioned, the Apache is cut much trimmer than the Covert. I'm 6'1'', 190 lbs, and I normally wear a Large in sweaters and jackets. A Large Covert fits me perfectly so I'd say it's sized comparably to other clothing. In the Apache, I need a XL - a Large fit me more like a snug base layer than a sweater. You can't go wrong with either sweater, however - Arc'teryx makes great gear. If you want a lighter, polartec sweater that's easier to slip on and off, the Apache is for you.
December 9, 2009
So soft, so cozy~~
So soft, so cozy, great for running errands, everyday wear All you need is a altrec zip-t and this overtop and your set until it starts hiting the negatives.
December 7, 2009
it is light
the zip is light and very soft. i feel it is very well. but it is thin, it is not so warm.
December 2, 2009
I like this sweater!
I like this sweater! The fit is good. I always wear this sweater. It keeps me warm without getting me too hot. But, I enjoy the fact that Arc'Teryx makes clothes that are unique and extremely functional. I would highly recommend this sweater.

Arcteryx Apache
Nice 40-60 degree pullover for around town or mid-layer for a chilly Friday night football game. True to size...I'm 5'11 and 185 pounds (44 Chest-32 Waist) the large fits perfect. I've already made a mental note not to tumble dry. If you have concerns about size or length...go with the XL.
February 28, 2009
Looks great and functional
I purchased the XL, I am tall; 6'6" and thin; about 210 lbs and both the length and width is fine. I use for underlayering during the winter and just around the house when it is cold. Looks great and functional
February 23, 2009
Fits well, looks great, keeps me warm
I like the way it fits and hangs. I get a lot of compliments on it. And it insulates really well without making me feel overheated.
December 17, 2008
Wonderful jacket for layering
This is a top-quality layering piece that fits well. It is comfortable without a bunch of extra fabric to bunch up. I purchased the XL size and am 6' and 210 pounds and it is the right size. This is great worn over a base layer or as a mid-layer with my Gamma LT Pullover to cut the wind. The zipper makes it easy to adjust so I don't get too hot when snowshoeing. I will be buying other colors of this top in the future. This top is Made in Canada.
November 30, 2008
GREAT!
Very impressed with my first Apache I bought another one! Great pullover I use it for Alpine and ice climbing light and warm...
May 13, 2008
One warm awesome layer!
This is a high quality insulating layer. It is a little expensive compare to other brands, but Arc'teryx made high quality products.
January 27, 2008
excellent feel and versatile
This is by far my most comfortable and warm zip. I wear it around the house on cold northern Ohio days and if the weather is just a little chilly out I will wear it outside without a shell. Just Awesome!
January 8, 2008
Good looks, nice feel to it
A great looking pullover that is versatile. Fits really snug but not tight. I'm 6'1" 190 lbs and the large works pretty well. Could be comfortable in 40-50 degree weather with this over a single layer (t-shirt)
January 6, 2008
Warm, comfortable and stylish
My husband wears it all the time. Great product, hangs well on him, good quality!
December 17, 2007
great
my favorite , warm and light
September 24, 2007
GREAT SECOND LAYER
I FOUND THE ACR'TERYX APACHE AR THE PERFECT SECOND LAYER, SOFT AND FORGIVING. IT'S LIGHT AND JUST WARM FOR THOSE MILD COOL SPRING DAYS.
July 9, 2007
Denali Pass
GREAT! It kept me warm and comfortable for 22 days on Denali June 007 expedition. The BEST. Excellent 2nd layer under my 900 down parka when traversing Denali's 18,500 ft. Pass and on to the summit! I plan to purchase another one soon for my Hamalyan trip. Arc'teryx YOU are The BEST!
July 3, 2007
Excellent and more
I used it in cold weather and in extremely cold weather as a second layer. It is perfect. It is also versatile using it as a sweater, as a second layer, and casual. One of my very best buys.
March 26, 2007
"Next to skin" fit, yet very comfortable and warm. Great to wear it in the slopes...impeccable looks if you want to wear it at nights. Ideal mid-layer for very cold days. Statue and Sangria colors are simply AWESOME. I was expecting nothing less from Arc'terix.
February 17, 2007
A Favorite
This sweater is deceptively warm and flamboyantly stylish. Sizing is a little tricky because, as described, it runs a little small, but not so much that you would size down. Suffice it to say, this is designed for a fit body. I highly recommend ordering this in the statue color - It is beautiful and unique.
January 31, 2007
Great piece of clothing!!
This was the second Apache AR sweater that I purchased, I loved them that much. The fit is definitely fitted, not loose. But it fits nice. They are very warm and the type of fleece should not pill. I am very pleased with this purchase. BTW the Statue is actually a very light teal green color, looks good. The other colors seem to look like they should.
January 22, 2007
Nice~
Nice close fit and excellent fleece to use a layer or a nice option to wear to work as well. Arc'teryx comes through again!
January 17, 2007
Great~
The Arc'teryx Apache AR Zip is so nice that I've bought more than one. It's warm, has a unique look and feel, and it is made with quality craftsmanship. The only drawback is that it has a very slim profile, so if you are overweight, the sizing might not work for you. Yes, Arc'teryx products might be a little pricier than other brands, but they're worth it!
January 3, 2007
great pullover
A great arcteryx product , always give you the best warm , keeps the chill out
November 23, 2006
Great fit
This shirt feels great on. Although very warm inside climates. Quality workmanship throughout.
November 6, 2006
Great Fleece
Highly Recommended for cold weather.
August 14, 2005
nicer then a normal fleece
As with most every Arc'teryx products the Apache AR Zip is excellent, I have two of them in different colors and really like their Tech look that is dressier then a fleece.
August 10, 2005
Apache AR Zip
From its classic looks to its simple comfort and fit, the AR Zip is top knotch. Had a chance to wear it in colder windier climes recently and it was all I needed during a long hike. And the fitted cut to the shirt added to the protection provided by the Thermal Pro fleece. Like all my outdoor performance and technical clothes, I can't wait until winter to live in my AR Zip. May have to add another Zip to my growing Arc'Teryx collection.
July 30, 2005
Warm, looks great!
This is a non-compressible mid-layer. Great for town wear and IMHO better looking than the Covert lineup made of the same thermal pro.
July 5, 2005
A great top!
A great top at a great Altrec price! You should size up as this garment is fitted.
July 5, 2005
ah warmth!
A very excellent jacket for 3-season wearing.
June 24, 2005
great shirt
Great, well fitting polar shirt, nice long zipper
June 20, 2005
great product, well made
the apache AR Zip is a well made warm, well taylored shirt. It fits close to keep warmth in, best pull over fleech I have.
June 19, 2005
terrific shirt
Shirt is close fitting; interior has a nicely brushed soft feeling
June 5, 2005
excellent mid-weight fleece
this is an excellent piece, with a nice non-polyester feeling to it. very warm, and perfect as a pullover or sweatshirt alternative. It's not the most compressible, so I mainly use it for town wear or over a tee and then with a shell.
June 3, 2005
Good!
Soft and has good design. It's really fit for anyone likes the Arceryx.
May 24, 2005
