Wear it everyday
December 11, 2009

I love this thing. I wear it everyday, it's really comfortable. It has a very soft wool-like fleece material. It works great in cool temperatures alone, but wind blows through this thing and the bottom of it doesn't wrap tightly around my waist so wind blows up my shirt. However if it gets below freezing, you can tuck it in and put a shell over it. The fleece sort of repels water, and if it does get wet (like submerged in water), it evaporates much faster than cotton does. As a mid-layer and I think it'd be adequate to around 15 degrees with activity. Well-made.

I Like the Covert Better
December 09, 2009

I own both the Apache and several Arc'teryx Coverts. While the Apache is a very nice sweater, for $11 more I prefer the Covert. The Covert is a little more substantial than the Apache (15.7 oz vs 13.6 oz - from the Arc'teryx website), which is nice if you're buying for warmth. The Covert also looks more like a traditional sweater, not having the nylon pocket on the breast or the nylon forearm patches. On the other hand, the Apache is easier to get on and off since it's a 1/2 zip as opposed to the 1/4 zip of the Covert. A caution on sizing, as someone else mentioned, the Apache is cut much trimmer than the Covert. I'm 6'1'', 190 lbs, and I normally wear a Large in sweaters and jackets. A Large Covert fits me perfectly so I'd say it's sized comparably to other clothing. In the Apache, I need a XL - a Large fit me more like a snug base layer than a sweater. You can't go wrong with either sweater, however - Arc'teryx makes great gear. If you want a lighter, polartec sweater that's easier to slip on and off, the Apache is for you.

So soft, so cozy~~

I like this sweater!
October 07, 2009

I like this sweater! The fit is good. I always wear this sweater. It keeps me warm without getting me too hot. But, I enjoy the fact that Arc'Teryx makes clothes that are unique and extremely functional. I would highly recommend this sweater.

Arcteryx Apache
February 28, 2009

Nice 40-60 degree pullover for around town or mid-layer for a chilly Friday night football game. True to size...I'm 5'11 and 185 pounds (44 Chest-32 Waist) the large fits perfect. I've already made a mental note not to tumble dry. If you have concerns about size or length...go with the XL.

Looks great and functional
February 23, 2009

I purchased the XL, I am tall; 6'6" and thin; about 210 lbs and both the length and width is fine. I use for underlayering during the winter and just around the house when it is cold. Looks great and functional

Fits well, looks great, keeps me warm
December 17, 2008

I like the way it fits and hangs. I get a lot of compliments on it. And it insulates really well without making me feel overheated.

Wonderful jacket for layering
November 30, 2008

This is a top-quality layering piece that fits well. It is comfortable without a bunch of extra fabric to bunch up. I purchased the XL size and am 6' and 210 pounds and it is the right size. This is great worn over a base layer or as a mid-layer with my Gamma LT Pullover to cut the wind. The zipper makes it easy to adjust so I don't get too hot when snowshoeing. I will be buying other colors of this top in the future. This top is Made in Canada.

One warm awesome layer!
January 26, 2008

This is a high quality insulating layer. It is a little expensive compare to other brands, but Arc'teryx made high quality products.

excellent feel and versatile
January 08, 2008

This is by far my most comfortable and warm zip. I wear it around the house on cold northern Ohio days and if the weather is just a little chilly out I will wear it outside without a shell. Just Awesome!

Good looks, nice feel to it
January 06, 2008

A great looking pullover that is versatile. Fits really snug but not tight. I'm 6'1" 190 lbs and the large works pretty well. Could be comfortable in 40-50 degree weather with this over a single layer (t-shirt)

Warm, comfortable and stylish
December 16, 2007

My husband wears it all the time. Great product, hangs well on him, good quality!

GREAT SECOND LAYER
July 09, 2007

I FOUND THE ACR'TERYX APACHE AR THE PERFECT SECOND LAYER, SOFT AND FORGIVING. IT'S LIGHT AND JUST WARM FOR THOSE MILD COOL SPRING DAYS.

Denali Pass
July 03, 2007

GREAT! It kept me warm and comfortable for 22 days on Denali June 007 expedition. The BEST. Excellent 2nd layer under my 900 down parka when traversing Denali's 18,500 ft. Pass and on to the summit! I plan to purchase another one soon for my Hamalyan trip. Arc'teryx YOU are The BEST!

Excellent and more
March 26, 2007

I used it in cold weather and in extremely cold weather as a second layer. It is perfect. It is also versatile using it as a sweater, as a second layer, and casual. One of my very best buys.

February 17, 2007

"Next to skin" fit, yet very comfortable and warm. Great to wear it in the slopes...impeccable looks if you want to wear it at nights. Ideal mid-layer for very cold days. Statue and Sangria colors are simply AWESOME. I was expecting nothing less from Arc'terix.

A Favorite
January 31, 2007

This sweater is deceptively warm and flamboyantly stylish. Sizing is a little tricky because, as described, it runs a little small, but not so much that you would size down. Suffice it to say, this is designed for a fit body. I highly recommend ordering this in the statue color - It is beautiful and unique.

Great piece of clothing!!
January 22, 2007

This was the second Apache AR sweater that I purchased, I loved them that much. The fit is definitely fitted, not loose. But it fits nice. They are very warm and the type of fleece should not pill. I am very pleased with this purchase. BTW the Statue is actually a very light teal green color, looks good. The other colors seem to look like they should.

Nice~
January 17, 2007

Nice close fit and excellent fleece to use a layer or a nice option to wear to work as well. Arc'teryx comes through again!

Great~
January 03, 2007

The Arc'teryx Apache AR Zip is so nice that I've bought more than one. It's warm, has a unique look and feel, and it is made with quality craftsmanship. The only drawback is that it has a very slim profile, so if you are overweight, the sizing might not work for you. Yes, Arc'teryx products might be a little pricier than other brands, but they're worth it!

A great arcteryx product , always give you the best warm , keeps the chill out

Great fit
November 06, 2006

This shirt feels great on. Although very warm inside climates. Quality workmanship throughout.

Great Fleece
August 14, 2005

Highly Recommended for cold weather.

nicer then a normal fleece
August 10, 2005

As with most every Arc'teryx products the Apache AR Zip is excellent, I have two of them in different colors and really like their Tech look that is dressier then a fleece.

Apache AR Zip
July 30, 2005

From its classic looks to its simple comfort and fit, the AR Zip is top knotch. Had a chance to wear it in colder windier climes recently and it was all I needed during a long hike. And the fitted cut to the shirt added to the protection provided by the Thermal Pro fleece. Like all my outdoor performance and technical clothes, I can't wait until winter to live in my AR Zip. May have to add another Zip to my growing Arc'Teryx collection.

A great top!
July 05, 2005

A great top at a great Altrec price! You should size up as this garment is fitted.

ah warmth!
June 24, 2005

A very excellent jacket for 3-season wearing.

June 20, 2005

Great, well fitting polar shirt, nice long zipper

terrific shirt
June 05, 2005

excellent mid-weight fleece
June 03, 2005

this is an excellent piece, with a nice non-polyester feeling to it. very warm, and perfect as a pullover or sweatshirt alternative. It's not the most compressible, so I mainly use it for town wear or over a tee and then with a shell.

Soft and has good design. It's really fit for anyone likes the Arceryx.

Great for layering
May 24, 2005

Very light, compact, and quick to dry. The fit isn't exactly small, as some claim this manufacturer's patterns to be. Rather, it is close-fitting, although unconstricting. The small-diameter sleeves in particular make it especially easy to slip another garment over this, which you may well want to, as it is more of a pullover shirt than a jacket.
