Exceeded expectations

The Arcteryx Atom LT Jacket is such a surprising jacket. For something so light and flimsy feeling it is the opposite ... extremely warm and durable. I wore this jacket all winter long by itself and as layer underneath a gore-shell jacket and it was amazing. And if the weather warmed up I just rolled it up into a very small bundle which took up almost no measurable space in my backpack. I am an athletic 5'9" at 180lbs and a large fit nice and snug sealing virtually all entry points for wind. The jacket did not feel or give that puffy look as other similar jackets from competing brands do. It let me breathe when I was active and I never felt stuffy or moist. Even though the material felt like as if it could tear easily it is very durable and as with all Arcteryx products the construction is impeccable. I easily recommend this product for anyone.

I'm 6 foot, 190 Lbs, 35 inch arm length, and I struggle to find jackets that fit me right in the arms without being too big in the body. The athletic fit of this jacket is perfect for me. I got a Large and it fits me just right. The jacket is very thin and packable yet surprisingly warm for how lightweight it is. The jacket is stylish and great to wear on its own when its not too cold or as a mid layer when the temperature drops below freezing. I love the looks and quality of this brand - definitely worth the money.
Great jacket, specially for hiking.
June 14, 2012
This is a great mid layer jacket for almost all trips. It is perfect for midlayering on hiking trips. The design is also great, so i often use it when i am just going to the store. The fit is a litle bit big, but i use the same size as normal. Then i also can have other clothes underneath. Overall, a great jacket for that prize!

Atom jacket

This is a great jacket! We bought two- one for my husband and the women's jacket for me. Perfect jacket for fall and winter. Also this jacket is very comfortable and can compress down to the size of a grapefruit. Would highly recommend!

The Atom Lt is a fantastic layering jacket and as a standalone jacket. The jacket compresses down to almost nothing, however the material used inside the jacket keeps your body comfortably toasty! The fit is great and the jacket looks awesome. As usual, Arcteryx quality is noticeable right away. I have already worn the jacket several times, including during two rain storms here in Seattle and it has kept me warm and dry.

Must have jacket
January 03, 2011
Been looking for the right jacket to wear when I run, bought the Gamma MX, Venta LT but they were not warm enough for the cold NYC winter morning. The Atom LT was just right when the temps are in the 10's. It is very warm and so very light. I wear 1 base layer and with the Atom LT it kept me nice Acomfortable. I am 5'7' 165lbs and the Medium fit just fine. Plan to wear the Atom LT under my SV shell for skiing as well. This is a warmer solution than the fleece if you like things toasty.
Confortable + Light + Warm
March 29, 2010
Very good jacket. Extremely comfortable, warm and light. Very good for hiking: fits everywhere. Once you reach to the summit just put this baby on (and an outer shell) and you are golden.
light and warm
December 24, 2010
it's very warm and comfortable and fits perfectly under my beta ar. as a stand alone jacket, i think it would be perfect for spring and fall weather. as with other arcteryx products, the quality on this jacket is exceptional.
My husbands Favorite!
January 19, 2012
My husband used this jacket shell when he went skiing. He loved it! It runs true to size, it is easy to move in, and kept him warm. He has also worn it as a regular coat and loved it. He has had several different shells over the years but this one is a keeper!
Pros: Lasts forever, Ease of useUltra lightweight, yet warm
January 16, 2012
I've been hesitant to spend so much on a "lightweight" jacket, but have finally broke down. Boy, am I impressed! Super lightweight, ultra thin, but keeps me warm in the 20-30's. Not sure how durable the nylon will be to abrasions, but we shall see, as this is my first piece of Arc'teryx clothing. The cut is on the slimmer side, but the slightly elastic (yet stylish) wrist and waist keep wind out. Will easily layer under a more waterproof jacket while I'm riding in the rain, and keep me plenty warm without much bulk. Glad to find a jacket that I can always have with me and will serve a variety of purposes.

this jacket is so light on hand but it does great to keep you warm even in gusty wind......i was at app trail last week and atom lt jacket doing just fine, if you add soft shell jacket like arcteryx stingray as the outer jacket i think going to be good for skiing in the cold winter
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceBombproof
April 04, 2013
I've had this jacket a little over a year, and as everyone has said, this thing is awesome. My original intent was to use it as a warm layer for ski touring. I wanted something warm, but also something that would breath a bit. This jacket was both warm and breathable thanks to the insulation and fleece panel combo. I've worn the Atom SV, and loved it, but it was too warm for my active, high body temp, exercise. One of my favorite aspects of the jacket is the sleeve cuffs. They are super thin, and stretchy, which means this jacket layers really well in the winter without adding too much material at your wrists. The hood will fit over a ski helmet too, which is a bonus. After two winters of ski touring, it's still in pristine shape. Not a surprise for Arc'Teryx. You get what you pay for. Only complaints are that the zipper doesn't like to stay all the way up, but this might be different in newer models (I hope). Only other complaint is that I don't have a couple of these because I've worn this jacket in so many situations I wish I had a couple.

Perfect Midlayer
January 08, 2012
I bought this for my husband to wear under his Arcteryx paclite shell. He loves it. He loves the freedom of movement and for the weight it is surprisingly warm. It holds true to the Arcteryx promise to deliver the very best in gear.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: CostGreat durability, fit, and warmth
January 17, 2011
I've had this Jacket for a year now and I love it! I am 5'11", 160 lbs., size 40 chest and the medium fits well in the chest as well as the waist. This may sound ridiculous, but I was attacked by a dog the other day while wearing this jacket. The dog tore through my jeans but somehow when it bit my jacket, there weren't any tears or scratches which proves its durability. As for warmth, it is great as a mid layer underneath a shell or as a standalone piece.

Perfect 2-3 season everyday/everywhere companion
February 19, 2011
The Arc'teryx Atom LT is the perfect jacket for the spring, fall, and winter seasons. It's lightly insulated with PrimaLoft and there are 2 panels of Polartec Power Stretch, on the left and right, to help breathability when the cardio kicks up a bit. When the weather is chilly but Father Winter hasn't quite made his presence felt, it's a great piece of light outerwear that'll keep you warm and comfy on it's own with a t-shirt underneath. Then when things start to get really cold, it can perform as the perfect mid-layer! The fit is definitely athletic. I'm 5'9" 145lbs athletic and I wear a medium and it's a perfect fit. Small definitely would be cutting into my pits and large would leave too much space everywhere. Love, love love this jacket! ... So much so that I even have the hoody and vest versions =)

An awesome multi-purpose layer
September 26, 2012
I was never really a big fan of "puffies' or insulated jackets, do to the fact that they have never fit me well, or they look ridiculous on me. I know I know, "who cares how you look when in the outdoors?!". But to be honest, I would like to use my gear in more than just an outdoors setting, and who doesn't mind looking sharp while doing what you love? So when I got the chance to try on the Atom LT at a local store, I was pretty curious do to the fact that it is a puffy, without the puffy looks (no waffle patterns here). Man was I surprised how light it is. I've always been a fleece-jacket kind of guy, because I love the solid and warm feeling a fleece gives you. But the Atom LT makes you feel like you are surrounded by warm, comfy air without the bulk you get from many other insulated jackets. It's super light, and super easy to compress and stuff at the bottom of your pack (Arc'Teryx website show's how to stuff the jacket in to it's own sleeve). Much lighter than a fleece, yet just as warm as a mid-weight fleece. The jacket isn't that noise, a bit, but nothing to drive you crazy. The side hard-fleece panels, do a good job of venting so as not to let you over-heat. But I can't comment too much about this, since I sweat like crazy no matter what, so my body could be simply over taking the jacket. There are a few issues to keep in mind. The jacket has elastic cuffs, which is great for keeping warm air inside, but not so much if you wish to protect your hands. And even thought it does have a lower back hem, it still a bit short so it tends to ride up a bit (the Atom LT Hoodie, which my friend has, is about an inch longer at the hem). Those features though, make it a great layering piece, under heavier jackets or hard shells. Also, I am not so sure about it's durability, but that is just common with a coreloft/insulated jacket. Not as durable as a fleece, but far lighter and more compact, yet just as warm. The hand pockets have a fleece in it so it also keeps your hands warm when you don't have gloves. So as much as I still love a good fleece (and still use them all the time) I've found my self using this jacket a lot during late spring and early summer when I use a smaller pack, and need a light and warm layer that will fit in it, without adding too much weight. And even used it as an extra warm layer (under a fleece) when summiting Mt Whitney. So would I recommend this? Heck yeah~!!! But a last disclaimer. I got this jacket on sale. So it made the deal even sweeter for me. I personally think this jacket is a bit too expensive at Arc'Teryx MSRP. You always pay a bit more with Arc'Teryx, do to their quality and reputation. But if you can find this jacket for less (I found it for almost half off) then do not hessitate, because you won't regret it! (check out my pictures, and you will see me, my sister and my friends we all have Atom's)

February 09, 2010
This jacket is amazingly lightweight and is surprisingly warm. Can be worn as a jacket on a mild winter's day here in the Northeast, and is great as a baselayer for wearing under a shell for skiing. I have also used it for traveling around the world, and it can pack down into a very small space in one's hand luggage.
Atom lt jacket
December 16, 2011
I just used my atom Lt on a ski trip to steamboat colorado. This lightweight yet warm jacket worked perfectly under my stingray jacket. The temps were about 25-35 at the base but much cooler at the summit. The jacket kept me warm at the top but breathed great when I opened my pit zips on my shell whenever I got warm. It works better than a fleece because your shell will slide right over the fabric of the atom lt. I am 5'9" 185lbs with a 41" chest and went with a large and it fits perfectly. Arcteryx is pricey but worth it.
Pros: Build quality, Performancegood jacket for San Francisco!
December 26, 2011
The weather in SF is ,as you may know, not easy to get used to. It's warm in daytime but it's freaking cold in nighttime, especially wind is very chilly. This jacket can stop wind and keep the warmth inside. Very good for those unique weather places. It's very light, so it doesn't bother to wear this even in warm daytime as well.

Perfect fit, lightweight
November 23, 2009
I was looking for a synthetic jacket, light weight which could breath. I also wanted to get away from the puffy North Face I had where I always seem to get a size larger so the sleeves are long enough. This jacket in size large is perfect for me. I am 6-1, 175 with long arms. They are long enough and the cuff is perfect...much better than velcro...it also balls up small and will be perfect to take on bicycle tours where size and weight are key.
Lightweight but warm, Great Fit
January 28, 2010
Couldn't be happier with my purchase. Fit is trim and not bulky. Extremely lightweight but doesn't seem to lose any warmth. Side vents are great for when running or hiking because it doesn't get too warm. I also really like how the bottom is a little lower in the back compared to the front. Gives it a fit look without exposing too much in the back when moving around.

WoW
January 22, 2010
I do lots of backpacking and I always need clothing that is extremely light and can be work in numerous conditions. This is an outstanding stand alone jacket on fairly cold days and it works well in light rain. In heavier rain it works well under a rain shell.
Great Liner Layer
December 20, 2011
I bought this to be a liner under my Arcteryx Stingray shell and it works great as a lightweight layer. While this jacket can be worn alone it is not one that would work by itself in cold and/or inclement weather (unless you are just going to the mailbox). The fit is outstanding (which is why I love Arcteryx) and the lack of bulk makes it a nice addition to my shell (made to go together). It also fits well under my Gamma MX softshell.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Cons: priceyAnother great piece from Arcteryx
April 07, 2012
With the quality you would expect from Arcteryx, this jacket is not only versatile but good looking. It can be worn under a shell for insulation or as a stand alone jacket in the spring/fall. It has a trim athletic fit and packs down small. It is a great piece and I would highly recommend it!
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: CostBest Warm Lightweight Jacket
March 14, 2011
My husband LOVES this jacket. He has the Venta AR for cool mornings(40's-60's). He needed a jacket that has extra warmth for the cold mornings (10's-40's) without adding bulk. This jacket fits the bill perfectly. It sheds light rain and blocks some wind. Definitely not windproof. If its raining hard, he just needs to add a gore-tex shell and he's set. It fits similar to the Venta AR. As always, Arcteryx has build a great high quality jacket. With the success he's had, I'm considering the women's version for myself.

Lightweight and perfect layering piece
January 31, 2010
From the moment I tried this on I was sold. Very nice fit, lightweight, and warm. Perfect layering piece and works worn alone too. Fairly tight fit so try on first. Only negative is there is no drawcord. Otherwise, great jacket!
simple and spectacular

this jacket have simple lines .it is warm, light, very comfortable and has a good fit.the only fault with this jacket is that it does not have a chest pocket.it would be realy nice if it had one for the cell phone or ipod.

It 's lighter than I thought, I think it 's more suitable for middle layer. Without any doubt, it has many features: breathable, lightweight and some windproof, But I can't depend on it in such a cold winter. I have to wear another hardshell.
great gear

I love this little guy - Highly recommended
February 10, 2010
It took me a while to figure this jacket out. By no means is it a jacket that you could ware to a Bears or Skins game in December with a shell on and be warm just sitting there. I think Down really has a hold on that. Where this jacket shines is when you are moving, be it cross country skiing, hiking, hunting upland game, or backpacking in the winter months. It is far warmer than you would expect as it really is crazy light. If you don't team it with the right base layer you will be sweating bullets. This jacket truly is a midlayer. It fits like one also. If you think you are going to get a big sweater or fleece under this jacket in your normal size you are mistaken. I am 6â1â 200lb and the XL from Arcâteryx has always fit me like a glove. The Atom in XL is fit as a midlayer (you can get an R1 or covert zip under it) but itâs thin enough to be worn under a shell. This jacket with my Arcâteryx Theta is my new go to combo. But again if it is supper cold you may have to go with a beefier fleece under the shell to stay totally warm.
extraordinary comfort!
January 02, 2010
Before buying, tried on several synthetic layers. The Arc'teryx Atom LT jacket is SO much more comfortable than other similar jackets. Great for layering with a great cut--looks sharp when worn alone alone.
Perfect
January 03, 2012
I love this product. I bought it particularly for layering and it works perfectly with Patagonia Powder Bowl (Powder bowl being a little slim fitting for my taste). I needed lots of heat in a small package and this delivers. However, next thing I knew, I was wearing it all the time to go feed horses or run the dogs up the trail. I live in the mountains of Southern Oregon and its been very cold, but I don't hardly notice with this jacket. GREAT!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useThoughtfully Designed
December 27, 2012
I love this jacket and I use it for a wide range of activities. The fit is perfect (snug, athletic cut - I'm 5'10" 180 and wear a medium). I can't fit much underneath, but then again, I don't really need to. This jacket is good over a t-shirt down into the high 30's, and with a more substantial baselayer into the 20's. I love the elastic fabric around the wrists which seals the heat. My only complaint are that the panels under the armpits allow wind to enter, but just throw it under a shell and your set. Definitely my go-to layering ski jacket and around-town fall/spring jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: CostGreat all purpose coat
March 01, 2011
I use this coat for 3 seasons living in the midwest. It's a great fitting coat that you can layer upon in the frigid cold. It's also a great combination of warmth and ventilation for fall/spring weather to wear buy itself. Stylish to wear out and also has an active fit to wear in the backcountry. Not many coats out there like it.
Great Mid-Layer Jacket
September 01, 2012
I love to wear this as an outer-layer jacket for around town in the mild winters of New Mexico, but since it is not wind-proof at all, only on calm days. As a mid-layer for skiing or other winter activities, it is warm and light. So light, that I tend to question how it will hold up against heavy use, but I have had no problems so far. I'm 5'9" and 150lbs and the medium fits perfectly.
Pros: Great design, PerformanceMen's Atom LT Jacket
December 16, 2010
This is a kind of jacked that you need to look at reviews very critically. The reason is that this jacket has a very specific purpose in mind. Actually, every jacket does, but more so for this type. This jacket is not designed to provide you with toasty warmth as a standalone below 0°C. My cold weather protection system consists of a Patagonia Capilene4 thermals and a Goretex hard shell jacket to operate down to 10°C. The intended use of this jacket is to be used as a mid layer jacket under the hard shell to bring the operation temperature down to 5°C. This is designed as a comfort zone. For short operations withstanding some discomfort, the operation temperature can be low as close to 0°C. But, then Ill need gloves and head gear. Also, Im the type that gets cold pretty easily. For that specific purpose, the jacket is great. It has nothing that sticks out much to interfere with its use as a mid layer jacket. Nothing fancy. Just good mid layer insulation in a light weight thin package. Its very well constructed. Although it does not look like Its intended for rough abuse with abrasive contact, I dont think thats what its designed for and it will be protected by an outer layer. Dont expect it to withstand you low crawling in a rocky desert. Also, some inexperienced people fail to consider this: These insulation layers need some degree of loft to provide proper insulation. If you compress it by choosing too tight fit or compress it with too tight fitting outer shell or other gear, it will turn into a thin solid sheet with near zero insulation properties. Im very satisfied with the purchase.
Very warm for overall weight
October 15, 2012
One day I am going to order an Arcteryx product and be disappointed - but it hasn't happened yet! This is a very warm jacket for its weight and size. Fit is not tight but jacket is not overly bulky. Wore in Colorado last February on a ski trip and was more than enough jacket on some very cold nights. Another exceptional product from Arcteryx.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performancewarm, comfortable ,light
January 10, 2011
Great jacket , perfect fit , light comfortable This jacket is perfect for person who get hot easily.
Great middle layer
December 07, 2012
Picked this up as I didn't have a lightweight and warm jacket that I could do athletic activities outside in. At first I thought it may be too thin to keep me warm on cold winter nights. Decided to take the dog out for a walk around midnight wearing just a t-shirt underneath and some sweatpants. It was about 40 degrees F with a slight wind. This jacket was warm and the wind wasn't penetrating. The best part is the gusseted underarms on this thing. You could do jumping jacks in it and the rest of the jacket won't ride up.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useDecember 01, 2010
It 's lighter than I thought, I think it 's more suitable in not very cold weather or inside a hardshell. It 's so comfortable and light, I could hike easily with it, Moreover, it's easy to be put into my backpack, so it 's convenient for several days trip.

Top notch!
March 07, 2010
This has become my favorite layering piece, hands down. I've worn it under my Beta AR with only a Smartwool baselayer, and have been warm in temps dipping into the upper teens while walking the dogs. It's ultra light and warm, and you forget you have it on after just a minute of wearing it. I highly recommend the Atom LT.
Fantastic jacket, great price
September 05, 2009
It's hard to describe just how great this jacket is... from the soft but lightweight shell, to the extremely comfy neck... and the stretchy and breathable fabric strips down the sides. First rate all the way. You won't want to take it off! Incredible jacket for the price, especially for Arc'teryx. Don't hesitate. Only word of caution-- I got the lichen color and it's much more of a sharp green that the yellowish color depicted here. Still nice, though, if you like off-the-wall colors.

The best synthetic mid-layer jacket
December 06, 2011
An awesome product!!! Very cool looking, Excellent quality. The Atom LT does its job as a midlayer to PERFECTION. The synthetic core loft is awesome. SUPER light weight, very condensible and best of all... warm.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueHe loves it
December 28, 2011
I got this for my b-friend for Christmas and he loves it. I bought the bright orange one. The color is awesome. Very stylish. He says it is warm but very light.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, PerformanceLow-friction Mid-layer
December 25, 2010
The reason I use this jacket is because of the smooth nylon interior and exterior. This is ideal for me, on top of my wool base layer, and under my fleece-lined soft-shell. I recommend this as an insulating layer. It has generous pockets (2 hand, one chest-which can be used as a stuff-sack for the jacket). The side panels are also very nice, making the jacket very flexible and very ventilated. I also appreciate the fleece-lined collar because I don't wear turtle-necks. Without the fleece there, I would just have nylon against my neck! Not nice. I'm also glad there isn't a hem cord. The hem is very flat and sits around the torso very well, adding to the low-friction characteristic of this jacket. To be improved, might be to blend this jacket, somehow, with it's brother, the Atom MX.
Light, Packable Winter Jacket

What I like most about this jacket is the tapered waist and the extra elbow room. It is a trim fit, yet it isn't too tight across the back . I do wish it had cinch straps on the wrist, though. The collar fits good too, and the pockets are functional, yet hidden a bit.
