Warm, versatile and looks good
February 08, 2012

I bought the Arcteryx LT Atom vest about a year ago and think it's great. I was looking for a non-fleece vest that could handle my outdoor activities (hiking, canoing, XC skiiing), as well as look good around town. This vest definitely fits the bill. It has been perfect for this winter in Wisconsin since the temps have been mid-30's and 40's for months. On warmer days I just wear the vest and on cooler ones add a light shell. Specific features I like are the non-shiny, yet difficult to mar outer layer. I've run into many things that should have at least scratched it, if not ripped it, and it still looks new. The microfleece collar and pocket linings are a nice touch on brisk days. The side panels provide plenty of forgiveness for layering or body shape fluctuations. It also seems more "regularly" sized compared to most "slim" fitting options saturating the market. Overall, I give it an A+.

Great vest!
January 23, 2012

This is a great vest! It weighs next to nothing (7-9 oz.) and is very comfortable to wear. I walk every morning and I wear this vest with two layers under it in 22 - 30 degree weather and stay very comfortable. I plan on taking it with me when I hike because I won't even know it is in my pack. I am 6'1" and weigh 201 and a large fits perfectly. The sides have a windstopper material that doesn't keep out all the wind, but it doesn't bother me either. When I get warmed up, the little bit of cool on my sides feel pretty good. I would highly recommend this vest! It is a little pricey, but good equipment usually is.

light and warm
October 09, 2011

I have two Atom jackets (LT and SV) and this vest - all are super light and very warm considering their lightness. The vest is the most versatile and obviously offers the most mobility so it is great for golfing and other activities where you require more range of motion.

The Arc'teryx Atom LT Vest is the perfect protection for your core during the spring, fall, and winter seasons. It's lightly insulated with PrimaLoft and there are 2 panels of Polartec Power Stretch, on the left and right, to help breathability if cardio kicks up a bit. The fit is definitely athletic. I'm 5'9" 145lbs athletic and I wear a medium ... It's a perfect fit! Small definitely would be cutting into my pits and large would leave too much space everywhere. If you've ever tried on the hoody or jacket version of this line, the fit is exactly the same. Love, love love this vest! ... So much so that I even have the hoody and non-hoody jacket versions =)

Awesome Mid-Layer
September 08, 2011

Great for wearing as a mid-layer under an exterior shell or white coat in sone cold hospitals. I'm about 167 lbs and 5'11", the medium fit well over one or two thin layers (e.g. two shirts); a large would have been too billowy in the waist. Would highly recommend v. the sweater vests you get from designer stores.

I use many arcteryx items over 5 years, and I use this vest most often, since it just fits so well and comfortable. price is bit high for vest, but its worth every penny

This vest although feels very light, it is super warm and it's very good design and of greate quality. It's excellent extra layer inside when you go out ski.

Arcteryx Atom Vest
April 25, 2011

I needed a light vest that would keep my core and lower back warm during cool days, and also to be a layer under a shell. The Atom is just flat out great. It's so light and form fitting that you forget you are wearing a vest. I'm 5-9 / 160 and the back coverage area is below the belt line which helps keep my lower back nice and warm. As for quality, anything Arcteryx makes is just flat out great!

Great casual vest
April 16, 2011

I would rate this vest as more casual and outdoors than some of the other higher end vests that you might wear to the office with a long-sleeves white shirt. The material is on the thin side but it looks good and fits very well. Should work out well for cooler spring weather. I like that the collar stays up or looks good folded down. The stretchy side panels are of a different shade but still a nice complement to the overall vest, mine is black. Overall this vest is different than my other vests so it's a great addition and I am very happy with my purchase. BTW, the logo looks good too (not too big, not too small). It gets noticed because it's "different."

Awesome core warmth
April 09, 2011

I needed a vest for some additional core warmth for winter activities. I own the Atom LT and the Atom SV jackets and this was the perfect complement to them. The side stretch panels are great for flexibility and breathability.

Just what I was looking for
February 24, 2011

I'm a snowboarder and travel photographer live in New York and travel the globe extensively. I was looking for a very thin vest to layer when the weather calls for it that would be warm, super light, but not make e look like a snowman. Another feature I was looking for was a fabric that would breath - A LOT. This nails it. It's adds superb warmth, is super thin, and it just breaths, it seems to regulate your temp perfectly. It really lets the excess heat out. Side panels are genius. Another great feature of this vest is I even wear this under my Prada coat when I need just a little extra warmth and it does not bulk it out and it looks cool and sophisticated. I like a flexible wardrobe.

Best layer vest for cold mountain activities
February 20, 2011

This has been the best ever vest I have ever owned! I mainly use it for high energy activities in very cold weather. It really provides a lot a warmth for a very slim and non-puffy looking vest. It has a slightly slim fit, but it does have a lot stretch and flexibility so if you normally wear a large then you will be fine with the same size. The fact that it can pack so small into your backpack makes it an easy item to always have with you and use for all your adventures.

Couldn't be happier
February 14, 2011

I bought this as a layering item for beneath a wool coat. Perfect slim fit, and not bulky. It's really comfortable, and suprisingly warm for it's weight. I find myself wearing it around the (chilly) office all the time. Love it!

Another Arc'teryx winner

A superb vest- light weight, warm, great fit. Versatile- perfect layer for cold, and very good externally for cool. This packs tight and carries almost no weight, so it offers many options and many uses.

Best light vest out there
January 24, 2011

I've been searching for the best vest out there without the bulk of down (marshmallow-man effect), but with more protection than a simple fleece vest. Products trumped by this vest: TNF Redpoint vest, Patagonia Nanopuff, Patagonia Micropuff, and several down vests ranging from 600 to 800 grade goose down. Sizing: 5'10 160lbs, Medium is perfect as an outer layer. This vest has plenty of length and has a drop tail back. One note on shell material, it is not as smooth and silky as the gore windstopper layer on the Arcteryx Kappa series, and so the fabric is slightly more "noisy". The polartec powerstretch material down the sides of the torso are stretchy and comfortable. Elastic cuffs at arm holes seal in heat. The collar height is pretty low, which allows me to layer more effectively without bulking up the neck area. Altrec now has unlimited lifetime return policy which is awesome!

As a layering or casual outer wear it works.
January 21, 2011

This is a piece that works well as a core layering. I have the Atom LT Hoody and the Atom LT Vest and I use them both in colder weather. In Boston when it gets between 10 to 20 I layered with a cotton T, then a long sleeve dress shirt, then the Atom LT Vest, then the Atom LT Hoody and the warmth is really fine walking around outside. Once in the building, all I do is remove the Atom LT Hoody and work with the Atom LT Vest on, it looks cool and I get complements around Starbucks. If I feel the need to remove the Atom LT Vest, I do, and when I feel the need to get it back on, I do. These pieces just take care of all of my warmth at work and at play. Highly recommend this combination.

Great looking vest, wish it was slightly warmer.
January 20, 2011

I purchased the vest cause I wanted something warm to wear indoors versus my Hyllus Hoody. The vest offers warmth in the core and obviously lets the arms to breathe. In this aspect, it works really well and it looks real good with a shirt as well. The fit is very good as expected from Arc'teryx and the features are very useful. The adjustable hem drawcord is great and keeps the vest snug at the waist. I purchased a M and a L since I couldn't figure out what size to purchase based on the existing reviews. However, after receiving both of them, I found the L to be the best fit. The medium fit me well but it was slightly snug. With the L, it fits just perfect and gives me enough room to layer. I'm 5'11" and weigh around 190 lbs. I have a 42" chest and 34 waist.

Atom LT Vest
January 18, 2011

Excellent...love it. Superior warmth to weight ratio. I really appreciate Arc'teryx's philosophy of manufacturing products that are of good quality AND can be used for a number of cold weather applications. The Atom LT Vest is one of their pieces I would recommend. Here in Nashville, it can get fairly cold (down to single digits), but most of the winter, averages are around 30 degs. (not a need to wear the 'big chill parka')...especially now with the Atom Vest. A typical upper body layering set up now is: a midweight pullover, the Atom Vest and maybe the Arc'teryx Covert Cardigan on top...that's about it down to 20 degs! And if it gets crazy cold and nasty, I would trade the Cardigan for the Atlas SV. The vest (as with most Arc'teryx clothing) is designed to fit fairly toned bodies...fairly snug. Me: 6' 175lbs., 43" chest, and the large is perfect; I don't think a Medium would work for me. As for durability...I'm pretty sure you won't see me running through dense underbrush with the Atom as an outer layer - as I don't think it was designed for such.

Great vest
January 15, 2011

Very comfortable vest. Keeps you warm without the bulk. The athletic fit works for me at 6'4" / 225. Plenty of length in the back to keep the cold out. Definitely recommended.

Great for an active mid/outer layer
December 30, 2010

I bought this vest after seeing the one my wife had. I use it for layering with a shell for lift skiing, and with or without a shell for cross-country/backcountry skiing. The fit is Arc'teryx "athletic". It fits fine over both an under layer and a mid-weight layer of insulation, but is close with no bulk. The athletic fit works great under a shell. The side panels are a stretchy fleece for great mobility and breathability. I'm 5'10 and 160lbs. I bought a medium and would not want it to fit any slimmer. It's really warm for its size and weight ! It's typical superb Arc'teryx quality.
