Men's Beta SL Jacket 4.9 5 39 39
great jacket This is another surprise from Arc'teryx-I knew I'd get great, super high quality gear from the bird co.,but this just iced it. Warm, very comfortable, deep front zip,but what did it for me is the warmth to weight ratio and the fact that it's so thin-but really keeps me warm.Easily as warm as other heavier weight fleece that I have. One of my best, and quickly becoming a favorite. I have other 100 weight and 200 weight polartec fleece from other companies that don't hold a candle to this one. It's the warmth to weight that really does it.I'm a minimalist when it comes to clothing (travel light-freeze at night)so this can take the place of two midlayers stacked. December 17, 2011
A nice rain jacket This rain jacket is the most affordable Arc'teryx hardshell. However, Arc'teryx still put a lot of effort into designing and making this jacket. Good fit and very well-made even though it is not made in Canada. Use it in the city during rainy days. Keep me dry all day. I'm 5'8", and 175lb, a size M fits me great. June 8, 2011
perfect You couldn't ask for more from a rain jacket. This will keep you dry in the harshest weather. Very lightweight and breaths well, great for summer rainy days. Also works well as a shell in cooler weather. June 8, 2011
This is a very powerful jacket This is a very powerful jacket, I wear it hiking in the rain, you can give me good protection, can not rain I can keep my body temperature. And it is very wear-resistant fabric, resistant to programs. In the tree branches to wear without fear of being cut, I would like to recommend this jacket you bought will not regret it! May 23, 2011
Superb Light Shell I really like this shell. The Beta SL is lightweight I carry it with me everywhere in my bag. Durability is good and the design cannot be beat. I have a Canadian made one and its excellent. Used it on a trip through the Andes in Colombia was the perfect shell for the climate there. I have a medium which is slightly large for my frame but I bought it knowing that so I can layer under it. May 19, 2011
As a Arc'teryx Hardshell, It 's cheaper than others. But I think it is enough when you wear it in city or not extreme outdoor environments. Thanks to it Gore-Tex materials, It could be completely waterproof and windproof. Moreover, it's more breathable and lighter. Although I owned Arc'teryx Alpha SV Jacket, when I am in city rain, I must choose it as my shell. May 5, 2011
High Quality Performs very well. Not insulated but keeps wind from getting to your core (use wool baselayers and other midlayers for warmth). In the summer it sees use as well for riding through rain. Makes a good fall and spring jacket. My girlfriend liked mine so much she bought her own. March 18, 2011
REALLY Good shell I have quite a few shells, I'm a bit of a jacket junky. Firstly I like this jacket - however I would not use it for hiking or any other outdoor sports. Its my urban rain jacket. There's no point wearing the beta sl in temps above 70 since you will end up getting soaked in sweat. The beta SL in my opinion is a fall, winter, spring shell. This is my first paclite jacket - and honestly for outdoor exertion paclite really needs pit zips - because it doesn't breath all that great. March 2, 2011
featherlight!! GORE-TEX Paclite product is bombproof for featherlight raining jacket, even i use them for spring skiing in east coast (the weather around 35-45 degrees). It's just so light and breathable so i could skiing all day.......i'm 5'8" with 169 medium size just fit me well in this jacket. February 23, 2011
Awsome Jacket This is my first Arcteryx jacket and I am impressed. I am 6’1”, 185 lbs and the Large fits perfect. I was a little concerned about the jacket being a slimmer cut but it still allows for an insulation layer without feeling constricted. The articulated arms are great as well. The Gore Paclite was key when I picked this out and as usual it rocks. I like Paclite because it is so lightweight, durable and of course waterproof. The quality of this product is top notch and lives up to everything I have read about Arcteryx. The quality of the construction, materials, and attention to detail should allow this to last me a long time. My only criticism would be the hood is so large but like most other mountaineering jackets; they are made to accommodate helmets so I find I need to adjust it to down to fit real snug. February 2, 2011
Fantastic Jacket I recently bought this jacket (female equivalent) for myself and loved it so much I bought this Beta SL jacket for my dad. We are a tall family and finding jackets that are long enough in arms and overall length can be difficult. My dad is 6'6" and around 220-230lbs, the XL fit in length but was slightly tight in the chest. The XXL fits him perfectly. The Beta SL is a great looking jacket and very lightweight. This jacket is perfect to pack when hiking, fishing, golfing, etc. If you are hesitant to order based on the price, I would strongly suggest that you take the plunge. This jacket is worth every penny. January 17, 2011
best rain jacket ever! I bought one of these for myself a few years back, and then for my mother-in-law. She loves it so much, she asked me to pick one up for her friend. If you live somewhere where it rains even a bit, you need this jacket. It's lightweight and super waterproof. Fits very nicely, and it doesn't look like you're ready to go hiking when you wear it around town. December 27, 2010
very packable some people like paclite, some people don't. after having this jacket for a little under a year, i love paclite. i had heard that it had durability issues, but after rubbing against sandstone cliffs on narrow trails and bushwhacking through some serious brambles - without any scratches or marks from either - i'm not at all concerned with it's durability. for being completely waterproof, it breathes very well. but it's arc'teryx & goretex so i wasn't really worried it breathing or leaking. what is absolutely amazing about this jacket is how it packs down smaller than a softball, even smaller if you use a stuff sack. my girlfriend has a paclite marmot minimalist size small and it doesn't even pack down as well as my large beta sl. there's seriously no reason to never take this with you. it packs down into almost nothing and weighs even less. used it in some serious downpours while fishing and hiking this summer and it kept me completely dry. the hood is really nice. not one of arc's enormous helmet compatible hoods, which are too big in my opinion. just big enough to block out the rain from hitting your face. my two dislikes about this jacket are that it doesn't have pit zips and that the front needs to go down about another 1 or 1.5 inches. then it would get 5 stars and be the perfect jacket. i'm 6', 210 lbs, 36 inch waist and a large fits me perfectly. December 14, 2010
Light and Dry(!) Awesome product from Arcteryx. As with their 'athletic' centric clothing, I was aware that the jacket would be cut just right and not too roomy. At 6'4", 190 the large fits me perfect -- any more robust or shorter and I would definitely get to an outfitter and try on an Arcteryx jacket. The construction and seams are holding well and the weight is perfect for wearing/carrying between the Atlanta downpours. December 8, 2010
Perfect all round Gore-Tex jacket Great light weight jacket and easy to store and when you're traveling. This will be my perfect jacket to have to repel the rain off of me during the winter months. This jacket will definitely keep you dry form many years to come. The sizing around the hip area is a little cramped and wished they would have made it a little larger. Height 5'8' Waist 33" Weight 175 lbs. December 8, 2010
Solid weather jacket My husband loves this jacket. It's lightweight and packs down for easy transport, keeps him very dry in a downpour, and most importantly, breathes well. Combined with the Arc'Teryx look and quality, you can't go wrong with this one. November 20, 2010
Super light weight and comfortable This jacket is super light weight and feels like you have noting on but protects against the rain and the elements like a more expensive one. Fit feels true. A most during the rainy season. November 11, 2010
Perfect Rain Shell I've had this jacket for quite some time now. The Beta SL is lightweight, form fitting, lies at the waist (which is exactly what I wanted....no bunching up), and has room for a layer or two underneath. Some things I have come to love: the collar is great, and I really like how it isn't attached to the hood like other rain jackets. The pockets can be unzipped and still be waterproof. It's also more breathable than I thought it would be, wears well underneath my pack, and is easy to care for (just throw it in the wash!). October 21, 2010
Great Jacket for the Rain! I have used this jacket during the rainy season in Tibet where it is also very cold and very wet and I can stand behind it fully as a product. I am 5'9 and 150 and I wear a Medium. The Small also fit but I like a little room for layering and just moving around. June 9, 2010
Super Light jacket This jacket is extremely suitable for simple outdoor activity as it's so light and easy to be compressed and be put into packs. Although it's not tougher than other 3-layer Arc'teryx GoreTex jacket, it has its own advantage. April 29, 2010
Light weight, packs easily and totally waterproof If you are looking for an extremely light weight jacket for hiking or everyday use, this is the jacket for you. April 12, 2010
Lightweight Incredible warmth for its lightweight! March 11, 2010
Expensive, light, keeps me dry The only thing I don't like about it is the price and that it lacks an inner pocket. It's a great rain jacket. The hood, sleeves, and bottom are all adjustable. It doesn't have a liner so be prepared to layer. It's sized pretty big. I usually get Medium sized products and this jacket in Medium is just a little big on me. January 26, 2010
Jacket Engineering at its finest Arc'teryx has done it again. This jacket is lightweight, waterproof with amazing seams, and durable. Even though I gave the jacket 5 stars, Altrec should think about improving their shipping standards. My jacket arrived in a packaging envelope with two holes in it. Luckily, Arc'teryx was able to replace it after I sent it to Canada and explained what happened. However, I feel like if Altrec would have used a box no shipping damage could have occurred. Otherwise the jacket is bomber and even with shipping it to Canada for immediate repair, I still spent less than I could have anywhere else. January 10, 2010
Light is Right! I have several Arcteryx pieces including the Beta SL, Alpha SV, Gamma, etc. The Beta SL is my go-to light weight stay dry jacket. The fit is perfect as it fits close to the body (not a lot of extra material to get in the way), it's minimalist design (no interior pockets, hidden hood pulls, micro seams, etc.) makes this the ultimate pack anywhere, go anywhere, wear everywhere jacket. Combine this with an 800 fill down sweater/jacket and you have a perfect warm and dry solution. December 30, 2009
Amazing quality True to size. My husband is 5'11 and 185 lbs. Trim fit, but enough room to zip a layer beneath. Kept the wet out while he was fixing our roof during the recent Nor'easter in Virginia! December 28, 2009
Second to None except one This jacket is lighter than previous Arcteryx BETA SL. It's size is true to the Normal Arcteryx's size. But the only shortcoming of this jacket is no pit zip underarms. December 25, 2009
Arcteryx is the BEST! My new rain jacket is so awesome and ultra light! High and dry for me in the Colorado Rockies this summer! December 20, 2009
Very Nice I already had the Marmot Nano, which is a similar Paclite Gore-tex jacket, but decided to purchase the Arc'teryx Beta SL anyways I have to say that the Beta SL is hands-down the better jacket. The Beta SL is the perfect length (shoulder-to-waist) compared to the Nano--which is a little too short, and the fabric feels more durable. I'm about 5'9'', 160lbs and the medium fits great with just a T-shirt under or perfect with a light down jacket. I highly recommend this jacket. December 15, 2009
excellent! I play golf so I own many windbreakers. This one is of top quality and very nice. It is so light that I can carry it with me and not worry about the weight dragging. It is expensive, but I hope it will last a long time. I love it! November 8, 2009
Awesome jacket Great jacket, took this out for the weekend in the adirondacks, kept me warm when the winds were blowing and dry when the wet slush started to fall. Seems to hold up well against the un-ending branches it got pushed up against, no abrasions or tears. October 17, 2009
Superb If you're looking for a rain jacket that is light, comfortable, and well-made then this is your best bet. A little pricey but worth the money. A real lady lover. September 27, 2009
Good quality Waterproofing is great. Worried a little about how long term it'll hold up under a heavy weight pack (50lb+). If you're thinking of doing long term backpacking or expeditions, buy a Gore-Tex Pro not a PacLite. September 25, 2009
GREAT JACKET! This jacket is fantastic. The breathability is awesome. It is lightweight and packs away very small in your pack. It is fully waterproof. September 2, 2009
Great Jacket This is an excellent jacket. Lightweight but still durable. Arc'teryx quality and a price that's fair. August 29, 2009
Excellent jacket! This jacket is so comfortable and breathable, it feels like a second skin, completely waterproof, great fit and looks. I am a new Arcteryx fan! recommended! May 15, 2009
Great rain jacket! This jacket is very light and like any other arc'teryx jackets...it is perfectly made. February 9, 2009
good good good this is fantastic. i'd like ALtrec to sell many of those good materials at more kind(cheap:)) price. April 20, 2008
WOW! Really light-weight and comfortable! It is perfect for spring and summer, but I'm sure it would be great for layering in cooler temps. I've not worn it in downpours yet, so I can't comment on the waterproofness. The fabric and the reinforcments feel much sturdier than my patagonia lightweight jacket which doesn't even have goretex.
