Men's Covert Hoody 4.7 5 26 26
Great quality product! Awesome quality like all other Arcteryx items ! Perfect companion on skiing trips ! The quality seems to be better than the North face comparable items. January 24, 2011
great Warm, comfortable, high quality. Carbide color is a little darker than the image shown. A stitch inside one of the cuffs has come loose after several months but doesnt seem to be getting worse. Dont expect it to hold up to wind. Right amount of space for layering underneath. December 4, 2010
In fact, I have owned one this fleece jacket before I get this black one, So I know its advantages. As for me, it can provide me any function in this cold winter, warm and windproof. It looks so fashionable, moreover, its hood could protect my head in some condition, Most of all, it touch so soft and I like its materials. November 25, 2010
A-1 Quality I bought one of these for my teenage son, and he was really happy about the style and warmth. The only bad thing is that he's outgrown a medium and now needs a large - and my wife wants one too! It's expensive but worth the price. November 15, 2010
Excellent Layering Piece As mentioned in the other reviews, this jacket is not great at stop wind. It is a bit too thin for that. However, it has a very athletic fit and provides considerable warmth. Overall a very stylish outer piece for the upper 40's low 50's temperatures, or a great layering piece underneath a wind stopping shell. November 14, 2010
Great light jacket This Arc'teryx jacket is great-- it's warm but breathable, light and comfortable. I'm 5'10" and bought an extra large, and it fits fine. It's perfect for a cool spring or early fall day or a light hike. May 2, 2010
Great Hoody I have several Arc'teryx products and have always been very happy with the fit and quality. This is a great hoody. If you are familiar with the "Covert" line, it is the same great fleece fabric. The fit is a little fuller than most Arc'teryx items. It is not quite as fitted in the body. I'm about 5'11" and 175lbs and ended up with a Large. I usually wear a large in Arc'teryx items, but since this one fit bigger I also tried a Medium--it was too short in the body and arms. April 2, 2010
Nice Warm & fit is great This is a fantastic jacket that provides extreme warmth for its weight. I purchased this jacket for those brisk morning days and even for the slopes. This jacket fits true to size, even a bit athletic. But I'm 5'11" and 220 and need the XXL for the sleeve length, but the body is still baggy. Overall, Great jacket February 24, 2010
Soft and Cozy I was surprised by how soft and cozy this garment is. I own many Arc'teryx tops, but this one is the softest by far. Use it mostly as a lounge piece or to roam the streets of NYC. Pairs well with a down vest on colder days. Yes, the breeze blows through it, but that's part of its charm. Will try it out as tech gear when I visit southern VT. I'm sure it will work well there too, as do all my Arc'teryx tops. Tends to be accurate on sizing--that is, there is no "size inflation." A medium is a old school medium, meant for people who weigh around 150-160 and hover close to the 6 foot range. February 1, 2010
wind creeps thru easily a good layer however the hood is oversized and wind creeps thru easily as you ride! January 19, 2010
Great Sweater This hoody is beautifully made, soft and warm. Definitely comfortable and I like the fit of the hood and the finish on the hems and sleeves. Not quite as thick as I thought it might be from the pictures but the fabric has a nice texture to it. I'm 5'9" and an athletic 165lbs and this fits me perfectly. These are minor quibbles but I wish the zippers were more heavy duty. Also the sleeve pocket is useless, I would prefer a chest pocket. It's nice that the handwarmer pockets are zippered but I could do without the heavy taping. Lastly, why is this so expensive? LL Bean is not quite a stylish but cost about 1/3 of the price. I'll still give it 5 stars but honestly it deserves 4.5. January 19, 2010
Awesome Arc'teryx This hoody is fabulous-- got black and love its versatility. It's of course beautifully made. Arc'teryx prices are always a little frightening but I'm counting on it to be worth it in the long haul. It's cozy and feels luxurious. January 15, 2010
Just like... The Covert series is complete! Just like the cardigan and vest, the hoody is tops. Warm, good looking, easy to wash, stays like new. A FIVE! December 26, 2009
Lovely, comfy. Silly price. This is my second purchase of said item. I hummed and hawed the first time because with Arcteryx there's often a certain sticker shock. What we have here is a $200 fleece which is certainly not warmer than a $100 fleece, and further, to deconstruct my purchase, it is certainly not a piece of gear. I find scuba hoods all but useless for outside activities. So how come I've got two of them? Well Arcteryx quality produces an almost existential calm for those of us who are reassured by tight stitching and superlative quality. And then there's fit: At 5'9' and 172 pounds with big fat shoulders, I'm barely squeaking into medium. Other gear companies seem to have adopted a sliding scale of measurements that make mail order purchases a little haphazard. Patagonia's "Better Sweater Hoody" for example is nicely put together, but is modeled on the proportions of a traditional English milk bottle (thin shoulders, fat hips). I use this item solely for indoor survival as evenings in our house usually entail camping by the fire with one side cold and the hoody is lovely comfy. So to conclude, if you have all the essentials of your gear, then indulge in this beautifully made fleece, or perhaps you can entice a willing adult to buy it for you as a gift... December 22, 2009
Best Polartec I own Living in the Berkshires on top of Beartown Mountain Road we get some icy cold winters. I have several Polartec fleece tops but this is by far the warmest and softest yet. The hood is great for zipping up close to your head when a wind blows up. I especially like the finishing touches such as the lay flat micro zippers and the finishing on the cuff by the wrists. December 21, 2009
overall all year around jacket I absolutely love this hoody. Keeps me warm and very lightweight. The zip pockets come in handy. The only thing is it isn't wind proof as wind blows through it with ease. December 15, 2009
A good base layer and very comfortable I owned 2 of these in XL some time ago, lost a little weight and now I just purchased a size L in Woodsmoke. My older 2 were made in Canada and I see this one is made in China. Surprisingly, I do not see a difference in quality. As others have stated, I too do not suggest this as your only layer on most days away from civilization. Paired with a lightweight wind stopping shell (I happen to pair it with a Mountain Hardwear shell where the shell's hood rolls-up into the collar) it works fine. I also use it with my down jacket. An excellent combination. Especially if you forget your hat! The hood itself is probably the best functioning feature of this product. It fits like a glove. It stays put when you turn your head even without drawstring and toggles. No need to wear a cap under this hood. Unlike a standard zip hoody, this is quite refined. All the nice touches standard to Arc'teryx products. My only thought design-wise would be to add a fleece layering to the inside pockets. They are only lined (on the inner side) with mesh material. Perhaps this may have added slightly more bulk to that area however I do get a little draft if left open. Overall a very nice product. December 14, 2009
Great design but cut a little larger than there usual tight fit I love this hoody but the XL is larger given the nature of Arc'teryx other products thus leading me to buy the wrong size. November 13, 2009
Hubby's Favorite Hoody Bought this for my Hubby and he loves it. He wears it all the time stating it is his favorite jacket. He takes it on every hike and backpack trip so far. He leaves it in his car just in case it's ever cold or for me when I forget a jacket. It's soft, comfortable, warm and light. I'm jealous. I think I have to get one for me. November 10, 2009
great hoodie great in the fall or as a layer in the cold. very comfortable. November 4, 2009
The best Hoody I have ever bought! This hoody is just as good as it looks. I've worn it during skiing it as a second layer under a shell, late summer during long walks in the evening and down town as a casual great looking sweater. It's the best, and I looks just like new even after several times in the washing machine! August 8, 2009
warm, but not great in the wind I like this hoody as a warm sweater, but don't expect a lot of wind-resistance from it, as it was not made for this. July 27, 2009
no regrets what so ever Great product! Comfortable, breathable, light, all the important features that a hiker cares most about. I worn it to Tibet recently, I was glad to I had with me in the morning and night. June 24, 2009
An Excellent Technical Sweater This Arc'teryx Covert hoody is the best layering piece I own. I have it in two colors I liked it so much, and am considering a third! It is very soft, warm and stylish. It does not block the wind at all, but it doesn't claim to. Costs more than the competition but as with all other Arc'teryx gear I own it is worth the cost adder! Highly recommended. April 17, 2009
Very Soft and Breathable A little pricey, but its worth it. Great for outdoor activities. Does not block wind and average in rainy conditions. Overall the best active wear hoodie I own. January 11, 2009
Excellent! Best hoody I have ever had. Super soft and comfortable. Warm for chilly wheather. Very attractive and functional. Mahogany is a great color. Expensive but worth it. November 26, 2008
