Loved this sweater because it was warm, light-weight and looked like a wool knit sweater. The cut is great and although it is a bit sculptured, it fits much looser than the arcteryx athletic/performance fit clothes. I sadly returned mine because I overlooked the "sweat patch" in the item description. I don't sweat between my shoulder blades and I don't care to have double-thick fabric bulking up the top of my back.Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: Bad design
Comfortable, great fit, warm & durable
May 04, 2011
This is my second Covert Zip Neck, and I have to say I love them both! They fit perfectly, almost athletic fit, but loose enough that they feel like a broken-in sweatshirt, but without the extra weight and the superior breathability. Wonderful to layer, and it feels great just worn over a t-shirt, as long as the wind is not blowing, or better yet, inside a tent or even indoors. This is an absolute favorite and gets used almost every day when the weather cools down. I prefer the zip neck over the jacket, because the zip neck does not have side pockets, which make the jacket a little stiff around the waist, and to me it just looks cleaner. Great quality. My original Zip neck is over 3 years old, been used a ton, and still has plenty of life left. Although there is nothing like the skin-feel of brand new Polartec. Highly recommended. Not cheap but worth the money.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
October 14, 2010
My wife bought this sweater for herself (176cm tall / 5'9"). Fortunately for me it was too large for her, but fits me perfectly (182cm /5'11"). It is my favourite sweater and I wear it all the time in the winter season. It is durable and very comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone, but beware that it is quite large.Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever
Love my Man even more!!!
December 06, 2010
Superwarm and comfortable. Great for Hiking and Outdoors, just as good to wear out for dinner! This sweater has style and class...love my boyfriend even more when he's wearing it. Highly recommendetPros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance
Most Favorite Piece of Clothing
November 28, 2010
Although this sweater/fleece seems pricey, it is well worth it. Between myself, husband, son, and daughter, we own 6 of these. We call them our "social fleece" because we wear them out as sweaters. The are also great for layering for skiing. When you take your shell off in the lodge, you still look great! We love the fabric and colors. Fabric looks great after many washings!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost
January 26, 2011
Order 1 size smaller than you usually wear, with Arc'teryx. So if you usually take an XL, order a Large. Also, only wear a base layer under this, and then a shell on top; though you might be able to squeeze a little more insulation, if your shell is a soft-shell. For example, base layer + Covert + down + Gamma MX. Also note that this piece feels more bulky, as opposed to its nylon competitors, like the Atom. That's the cost of using polyester--it stretches, but it also grabs and is sticky. Nylon doesn't stretch, but it slides an is slippery. So nylon feels less bulky when you are layering. I like the tight hem and sleeve cuffs. Also the sleeves are not too long, like most Arc'teryx pieces.
Functional yet fashionable
November 30, 2010
Very comfortable...Great layer to wear out and stay warm.....can also work well in an active scene.Pros: Great design, Build quality
December 09, 2010
My husband has three of these sweaters and loves-loves them !! Warm and very though. He is a rancher and uses this shirt everyday. True to size and worth the money!Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: Cost
Best Fleece Ever!
March 23, 2011
Runs pretty true to size. Very lightweight and warm although not good in wind. Washes up great and so far, shows no signs of wear'n'tear. I will probably be picking up another color soon. Would like to see some big pockets but it isn't a jacket per se. So far it has worked great outdoors and on casual days at the office.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value
Very Warm and Comfortable
December 18, 2009
Very warm and comfortable. Fits well and is not bulky. Extremely well made!
October 21, 2006
Fantastic feel, light weight, very warm. Great product. Highly recommended.
The best pullover ever.
November 14, 2005
This sweater is the single best pullover I have ever owned. Not only is it warm, its even it is fluffy and comfortable- ideal for using as a pillow while traveling.
Warm and comfy one
March 06, 2010
This Arc'teryx item is absolutely warm in the winter, and it 's so stylish, its materials 'Polartec Thermal Pro' is so comfy, I love this .
October 25, 2005
My son used it all weekend camping at 11,000 feet. Loved it for layering. Also uses it to throw on to walk to class. Looks great too!!!
November 09, 2010
It does not have any protection from wind, but it is warm fleece, and how breathable it is.I love the sleeve pocket ,it is good for money, cell phone and whatever. The waist fits fine but sleeves are little long.Pros: Great design, Build quality
April 10, 2011
What a great pull over. If you put a t-shirt on under it, you are comfortable down to 32 if the wind is not blowing. If you need wind protection it is thin enough that you do not look like the tire man if you put on a shell. The zipper is a little shorter than some so it is tight going over your head but does not bother you once you have it on. I am 5'9" and 165 and the medium fits snug. If you want a loose fit go with the large. Don't let your seat belt rub on it around your waist or you will soon notice wear marks.Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: Cost
Super fit, quality, comfort. Another winner from Arc'teryx!
September 03, 2005
Haven't gotten the oppurtunity to use the jacket yet (summer in Memphis) but I love it so far. It's got a super fit. I was told they run a tad "larger" and I'm borderline Large/XL so the Large was PERFECT (cut close but not tight). Quality shows everywhere, like in the welded pocket, giving it an almost unnoticeable technical look but still looks like it'd be great for on/off the slopes. Smooth exterior looks more like wool than fleece. I'm sure it will keep me toasty warm!
A great pullover for around town and out of town!
December 18, 2009
This pullover will dress up any pair of jeans for doing any around town activities and it is also a terrific layering piece under a shell when doing more serious outdoor trekking. A great Arcteryx item as always!
Best sweater I've ever owned
December 16, 2009
I use this for everything. Cold Chicago nights out, backpacking, skiing, climbing, you name it. It's a great second or third layer and works well under a shell.
January 26, 2011

December 18, 2010
I love this jacket. The fleece feels nice and the sleeve pocket is good for money/cell phone/whatever. My only complaints is the length of the sleeves. The waist fits fine but sleeves hit just shy of my wrists. Overall, I'm quite satisfied
December 21, 2009
This shirt looks great and has more of an European fit, so go up at least one size if you don't like it tight. I wear S in North Face jackets, but M in Arcyeryx.
Most Comfortable Sweater Ever
October 26, 2010
Iv owned two of these now and I love them. You can wear them all the time because the fabric breathes and allows airflow even when you go into warmer indoors. This can mean the sweater is a bit cold in windy situations but just wear a base layer underneath and its perfect for cold mornings. Most versatile sweater iv ever worn. Im usually a large (5' 11" 170) but if i wear a medium because i dont like my jackets to be baggy. The sleeves fit great and waist line is right below the belt. I will wear this sweater as long as they keep making it. Wish they had more colors though. Arcteryx did it againPros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use
Probably the best
May 25, 2010
Uber durable....so warm and style enough for a nice dinner out after the hike...What more could you want?
Great fleece sweater
February 20, 2008
This was my first Arcteryx purchase, and I was really pleased. I got this for my boyfriend, who loved it--he says it's really comfortable and fairly warm. The fit is perfect. I also really like the material.
Great and warm shirt/jacket for the cold winter months
February 19, 2010
This is the third one of these we have bought. My husband accidentally left his in Florida and was really missing it so I ordered another one for Valentine's Day. He has been wearing it practically non-stop. I love mine too.
The most comfortable piece I own!
February 02, 2008
I've had a favorite North Face pull-over forever that was my go-to top in the winter and for camping/fishing trips and this Arc'teryx piece made the decision to retire my NF one easy. Excellent product! I wear it all the time.
Great fleece for in between temperatures
August 25, 2005
This is a great fleece for wearing on its own in 50-60 degree weather (w/o wind this is a very breathable garment) or under a waterproof/windproof shell at much cooler temperatures. I wear it skiing in the winter, to class in the spring, and at night in the summer. I love it.
A great piece...
October 21, 2005
comfortable fit, soft. potentially my winter 05 favorite.
great mid layer
December 18, 2011
great mid layer. great for casual wear and awesome to have as a mid layer for the slopes. if you want a warm lightweight mid later the arc'teryx men's covert zip neck will have to be the choicePros: Build quality, Great value
April 10, 2009
I love the fit of this piece. it is very warm and must be kept in mind if you will be wearing it indoors. Nice looking. Classic Arc'teryx.
light warm and so comfy
December 04, 2009
I'm a happy old senior who searched for and found me a light warm pullover for my morning walks. I love the way it feels, fits and looks. kinda like a Porsche.
Not your typical fleece sweater
November 16, 2009
Very comfortable and nice looking. Looks great dressed up or with jeans. Feels very soft. Pricey; so I waited for it to go on sale.
December 18, 2007
The fit is excellent,I like the styling, and I am warm and cozy in this new fleece.I look forward to wearing it when I sail in early spring.
April 05, 2005
This is a great sweater, very comfortable, functional, and it looks great too!
Stylish, Casual Sweater!
January 02, 2008
This Sweater is awessome, very stylish, warm, well-constructed, I'm totally satisfied. It is very good for casual use, as well as for some hiking in cold weather. If you are looking for a mid-layer inside a softshell, This is not good for that purpose because this sweater is thick. I bought the Garbanzo color, I love it.
A Must Have!
March 06, 2005
The Arcteryx Covert collar Zip is a very awesome midweight insulator layer, it has a wonderful feel to the material and is dressy enough to be worn around town after skiing. Highly recommended and a must have for the winter season.
I would recommend it to anyone, but beware that it is quite large.Pros: Performance
perfect for everything
March 01, 2010
I bought this to wear to work and use for skiing and other winter activities. It's incredibly comfortable and really fits well. I couldn't be happier. Thanks for such a great product.
The best mid weight thermal layer I own!
January 16, 2006
I am a gear junkie. The Covert Collar rocks! I had been looking for a 200 weight thermal layer for a while. The Covert Collar is the ultimate in both function and style. It is warm, soft and thanks to Arc'teryx tailoring, it fits perfectly. Worn with a capaline baselayer and a shell over, it makes for the perfect mountain thermal for all but the coldest/stormiest days. I really like the close but flexable fit. Worn in the city under a leather jacket, it looks like marino wool, but has a cool high tech style. Its super light, very packable and dries in no time. This will be my garment of choice for travel and for the mountains. Yet another uber gear win from the folks at Arc'teryx.
December 11, 2010
Purchased to use as a mid-layer for outdoor wear. It is so well made. Will be able to wear it in casual settings also, it looks so nice. I love Arcteryx gear!! You get what you pay for.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance
My favorite fleece
November 16, 2007
This is clearly my favorite fleece. It is light, packs small and is extremely warm. Used primarily for canoe camping and nordic skiing, it's a great layer or outer garment. It kept me warm and comfortable even after an unplanned BWCA swim. It's my second one - lost the first at some unknown hotel.
quite comftorable, weras all day and evening
October 25, 2009
this is a very comfortable piece that you can wear skiing or at night.cool looking as well.
A great product!!
January 20, 2006
I bought the Covert Collar Zip for my boyfriend several months ago. He liked it so much that I bought one for my brother for xmas. What a great looking and versatile product. All of us love this item!
Stylin' in my new Arc'teryx: Covert Collar!
August 29, 2007
I live in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada, and I expect to get a lot of wear out of my Arc'teryx: Covert Collar. Right now (late August) it is a great sweater-type layer in the mornings - it was 29 F yesterday morning! And it will be perfect with a windshell as I hike Grey Mountain this Labor Day weekend. As we go into the winter, I am looking forward to wearing it under my down parka as the temperature gets down to -30 F... not mention throwing it on as I head for the outdoor facilities :-) It's full enough cut that it doesn't bind across the shoulders, and the fit and finish are great! I'm getting compliments on the "Green Bean" colour too! Thanks Altrec!
Warm, Classic Polartec Pullover
September 28, 2009
The covert series are always one of the best fleece you can rely on. As for this zip neck pullover, it is very warm and comfortable, and also has a great fit. Trust me you'll like it.
Nice fit; quality piece
September 26, 2005
If you have a big head, the small neck zipper opening might be to small. Honestly, that is my only complaint. Looks great off the hill, too.
Very warm, very confortable
July 04, 2011
I wore this product last weekend, and still today. At the first, I love its neck. When zip is up, the neck follows the border of my head (it's dificult to explain but so confortable). Second, it's feel as a perfect fit and without movement restrictions. At the third, very warm (inside and outside too. ask any girl). Finally, if you need to wear a coat, this product accomodate perfectly inside the coat. I recommend it to all my friends.Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great value
One of the best of the best
January 06, 2010
This is one of the best layering items I have ever purchased. Although made in China, the quality is excellent. XL fits great in the shoulders, chest and arms but just a bit full in the body (6'2" and 227lbs). I will be purchasing another from Altrec.
Warm, extremely comfortable, well made, good looking....
December 11, 2009
and a great mid layer under a shell. Also, great price on sale. Less bulky than conventional fleece....sweater weave on the outside dresses it up nicely but still the warm feel of fleece on the inside. Great all round sweater.
Great fleece! my favorite!
December 21, 2009
A very stylish and warm fleece. I am 6'3" 175# and a large fits me perfect. Just long enough in sleeves and torso length. The only thing I dislike is, I wish it had a 1/4 length zipper but besides that I love it.
Why take it off?
October 01, 2005
Perfect...an Arc'teryx product with a relaxed fit on my 215 pound frame. Can layer under and wear a shell over resulting in huge range of comfort. Use mine on backpack, canoe, and ski trips and it still looks presentable enough to wear to church on Sunday. The occasional sale price bumps the product to a "5".
Better than fleece.
May 09, 2010
Bought two of these for my husband because we both love the design and quality of Arc'teryx products. His initial response was to return them because he didn't need any more fleeces. (He probably has more than 40.) I talked him into keeping them saying that they were more like fleece/sweater hybrids. But more importantly, they are more stylish, comfortable, and warmer. He figured these things out the first time he wore them. They are now his "favorites". He looks so much sharper in these sweaters than his "slouchy-looking" fleeces. It does have a trim, athletic fit. So if you like roominess, order up. My only complaint is that the knit does tend to pill. But that wouldn't stop me from buying more.
Stylish and functional pullover
October 27, 2005
This Arc'teryx pullover is the first piece I have owned of this brand. I must say that I am very impressed with the quality and can't wait to buy another item from this company. The pullover is very comfortable and is sharp enough to wear as a top layer on an evening out.
This piece rocks!
January 04, 2008
I just got one of these for my birthday, and I'm very impressed. The fit of the sleeves and hem are spot on, and the bicep pocket is a nice touch.
Great layering piece
January 01, 2011
Our family owns and regularly wears several versions of the Arc'teryx Covert line. They are exceptionally warm and just as importantly look much nicer than the typical sweatshirt/fleece. I've worn this as a sweater to work several times with khakis and it looks very nice. Altrec shipping is very reliable and they are great to do business with. One note: We originally ordered the woodsmoke color and it is a bit darker than what it appeared on our computer screen. We exchanged it for the Lt. Carbide and couldn't be happier.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Cons: Cost
Arc'teryx: Men's Covert Collar Zip
November 30, 2007
Fantastic feel, light weight, very warm. Great product. Highly recommended.
Warmth without Bulk!
February 05, 2006
Needed a mid layer to go under my Arc'teryx Sidewinder. The Covert collar zip is great. It allows me to put 0 to 2 thinner layers on under it without impeding movement. I needed a large and it fit perfect. Long enough to tuck into ski pant, not bulky in armpit, not tight at neck. Very nice construction. My wife even said that it was a great fleece shirt. You get what you pay for. I'm very happy!
Covert Collar Zip Is Superb
September 01, 2005
This shirt is a classic. It is light in weight but heavy on protection in cool and windy weather. I took the advice to size down and was not disappointed; there was still plenty of room for me on during my bike-run-bike outings. The Covert Collar Zip is definitely going to be part of my regular outdoor activity wardrobe.
December 24, 2009
This is my first Arc'teryx purchase - and probably not my last. Very happy with the quality, look and fit. I am 6'2" 225lb. and went with XXL for more room for a base layer. I got it - without any hanging excess! This provides enough warmth to wear solo in temps ~30F and still feel cozy. And it's sharp enough to wear as a pullover for business-casual attire. I'll be back!
Love this sweater
September 22, 2008
The usual Arcteryx excellent quality. Fits and looks great.
I Love This Fleece
February 10, 2010
I have one in navy that i bought 2 years ago and it has be all over the USA. My son took it with him when he went to Philmont . Iam 5' 11" and 160 lbs and a large fits me fine.Bring back the navy blue and i will buy some more. If they stop making this fleece i will be at least 3 or 4 more. When I find something i really love i keep buying it. Thanks Mark Lloyd
November 18, 2005
Really light weight, warm and cosy yet not too hot, fitted perfectly as soon as I took it off the hanger in the shop. One of those things you know that once you try it on, you really are going to buy it. Expensive but worth it, a really classy fleece that won't be going near any mud for the first few months!
April 09, 2008
Very good product I got the garment that I expected and am very pleased.
Great for layering
January 24, 2010
I bought one of these in XL and it fit me perfect (6'3 190 lbs) - have used it as a mid layer for skiing and as casual with jeans - it is extremely comfortable and warm!
Great Mid Layer
December 06, 2011
Great piece for on mountain or around town. Fit was true to size and provided great warmth. Can double off the mountain just as well as it can be used on. Has a great athletic fit.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
January 26, 2012
Good fitting top that is also very warm. I have worn this top under a shell for downhill skiing and it provided great insulation. Arround the house or running errands this top does the trick.Pros: Build quality, Cons: Cost
May 11, 2010
Great fit and quality. Appropriate to wear in many conditions and settings -outdoor to casual indoor.
I dig it...
February 15, 2009
Excellent addition to my kit. Warm, comfortable, well worth the investment!
It started out innocently enough....
December 21, 2009
I bought one of these in a discontinued color(mahogany)for a great sale price....REALLY liked it, fits perfectly (XL for 6'2", 215 lbs),warm without being stuffy...since then bought the dark slate (also on sale) and finally the Miro Blue....and a cardigan besides (for my Dad)...just bought my girlfriend one for Xmas as well...I am living in these things...they are comfortable and good looking and well made...go great with jeans and office clothes...NO MORE for now....unless of course they go on sale after Xmas. Try one....they will become your favorite fleece/sweater in no time.
Arc'teryx: Men's Covert Collar Zip
May 10, 2007
Awesome fleece...so great that I bought two!!
December 12, 2010
Very warm layer. Been wearing during frigid nights in Transylvania with the Arcteryx shell. Keeps me really warm. When not zipped, the collar tips poke my chin, so i tuck them in.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
December 28, 2005
A very sharp looking pullover. Is original in the sense that it actually looks like a wool/knit top. The fuzz is on the inside. Nice!
March 21, 2011
This pullover is soft, durable and warm. I love the arm pocket. I own three of them. You can never have too many if you're into the outdoors! I highly recommend this product.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
December 21, 2009
best fleece ever!
Excellent Fit and Quality
September 24, 2008
Excellent fit in both the body and sleeves. Same quality I've come to expect from Arc'teryx. Probably can be used as a second layer under a parka in very cold weather but is warm enough by itself (with perhaps a turtleneck or other long sleeve first layer) for most other times. The covert weave is also a nice change from the usual fleece. Like it a lot.
February 29, 2008
Typical excellent Arc'teryx quality and thoughtful design.
Excellent look and fit!!!!
April 02, 2006
You just can't go wrong with Arc'teryx!!!...the men's covert collar zip not only looks great, but the fit and feel under a shell makes it ideal for skiing during cold and windy days. Surprisingly enough, the increased thickness and warmth does not compomise the flexibility of the garment. My overall experience with Arc'teryx products has been superb!!!, the extra bucks you spend are definitely paid off in durability, exceptional looks, fit, and confort. Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 12, 2005
I brought this sweater after reading the reviews and half expected it to be too big and too dark in color for my personal preference. Much to my pleasure neither things were true. This sweater is a beautiful denim blue, absolutely plush, and sexy soft. The price is so reasonable that I've decided to spoil the ones I love by giving this as a holiday gift--You may want to consider this too! As far as size goes, the sweater fits me perfectly because I intend to wear it as a second layer and not next to my skin. I am a smaller framed medium if this helps.
January 05, 2005
Favorite thing about this pullover is the way this fleece is woven. The fabric looks neater and less fuzzy. A nice change from your typical fleece. Only negative comment is, zipper could be longer. Removal is difficult, especially when one is wearing any sort of visual aid.
Why buy anything else?
December 13, 2009
The question is has Arc'teryx ever made anything that is not great? I have three covert pieces, zip neck, full zip and hoody and they all work great. I am 5'10', 165lbs and I wear a medium if I am wearing the item as a shirt and a large if I want to wear it over something. I have been wearing these items for several years and after many trips to the washing machine they still look like the day they were purchased. They are warm alone to about high 30s but lower than that you need something to break the wind. Hopefully they will have new colors next year so I can have an excuse to buy another one.
January 05, 2006
Great fleece shirt. Thicker than the original fleece shirts that showed up years ago. Zipper on the neck is not tight, and is not felt as you move. Length on the arms is good and is long in the back to protect your back. A little more expensive than some others, but well worth it.
