Superb Mid-Layer
February 21, 2012

I've been using the Delta AR for one ski season so far, and it has become my favorite mid-layer. It is really quite warm and comfortable. On the really cold days it serves as a great mid-layer under my ski jacket, and on the regular days, I put it under a shell and quite often am too warm. I am 5'9', 155lbs, medium build, using a medium size, and the fit is somewhat loose. It definitely is not a typical Arc'teryx "athletic fit." However, since it is not windproof or waterproof, it is better suited as a mid-layer while skiing, or an outer layer around town when there is no wind. I love the weave feel, and will sometimes wear it around the house without a base layer. Highly recommended, and not a bad price considering it's typical Arc'teryx quality and function.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Great looking, expertly made

Snug, but doesn't restrict. A warm, well built mid layer that I also wear to sleep in with long underwear. I've yet to be disappointed by Arcteryx or Altrec in any transaction. This is great stuff.

Stylish, lightweight pullover, blunts the wind
November 21, 2010

I wore this pullover yesterday over a t-shirt on a windy November day just to walk around and could not believe how warm it kept me since it's so thin. Notwithstanding the 20 mph gusts, which it held up to pretty admirably considering it's a layering peice, I could feel my body heat staying put. It must have something to do with the grid pattern--more surface space or something. I'm 5'10 and a medium fits true. The online color charts are misleading, though. I bought it in carbide, which online appeared to be a beige, when in reality it's a green that's closer to their coffee bean. My advice for online shoppers is to search out modeled apparel rather than the display shot. I would love to take it camping but it's so nice I'll wince the second it gets stained. That must be a common dilemma for Arc'teryx users.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

I own several Arc'Teryx products and this one is my favorite. The Delta AR is a great all around pullover that can be used alone or layered with a jacket. As with all Arc'Teryx products, the quality is second to none.

Bought this for my son who is 18. Very lightweight, warm, but not as much as apache. However, he prefers the lighter weight of this. It is very comfortable, but like other arc'teryx products it is for a slim, athletic build. he is 5"8-9" and 150-155 lbs, The medium fits him very comfortably. A favorite shirt of his when cold out.

nice but not for running
October 27, 2007

I wanted to use this shirt dor running, but it is better suited for hiking, as it is thicker than I like. Had to return it, and as always, the service fromAltrec was great.

Great Top
January 03, 2011

I had an older version of the Delta and I just loved the fit and the breathability -- till I wore out the collar. I'm big on Arc but only for outwear and insulating peices...I think their baselayer stuff needs much improvement. I'm 6'2", 215 and the XL fit like a champ. This peice is a bit heavier than older models, so it's more of a sweater than a truly layering peice (think R1 from Patagonia), but I love it non-the-less. It breaths so well that it and a T-shirt gets through most of what you need. Highly recommend.

Originally ordered a medium but it fit larger than other arcteryx jackets I own so I ended up going with a small. Fits great. Very simple jacket that functions as it should. No pockets no nicknacks. Just a great insulator.

Very Warm and Looks Great
February 11, 2011

This fleece is very comfortable, very warm to other similar weight fleeces. My wife loves the style and you can even dress it up with a button shirt underneath or take it casual with just a t-shirt under.

Great mid layer
July 04, 2011

First time buyer of Arc'teryx. Expensive, but very well made and finished. Great textures inside and out and nice neutral colour. Only negative for me, the Arc'teryx wording on chest is too large - the ladies version with just the little critter logo is more subtle.

Can't go wrong
February 04, 2012

I like gear and clothing that can be used in multiple settings. The Delta AR Zip Shirt does that for me. It looks great around town and is warn and light enough for weekend backpacking trips. Winter backpacking trips in the Mid-Atlantic states can be tricky. Cold one day, warm the next. It's light weight, yet warm, so works for both extremes.

My second one
November 10, 2010

I'm wearing it right now. My first - I now have two - was so great that I bought this one. Durability only gets a "good" because the collar pills. This is more noticeable on the older of the two that I have. The pilling rubs off easily with no obvious damage to the collar. I am a smaller medium (38-39 chest); hence the shirt fits large. It's warm, but not very warm, when compared to the Arc'teryx Covert pullover that I own. I really like Arc'teryx gear and will likely buy more.

Gold color looks better online
April 01, 2011

The Gold Metal color is more of a dull orange rather than the yellowish color shown online. I like the online color but not the real one, so this will be returned. The Large size fit perfectly (6'0" and 190 lbs). As the other reviews mention, this fleece is very warm for its weight. Very comfortable and stylish. Quality is top notch, and I'm a quality freak. Can't comment on the durability since I only had it on for a couple of minutes. I'm going to try the carbide color next and hope it is as nice in reality as shown online.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost

My favorite fleece
December 14, 2010

i live in Austin Texas, so it's not like we get extreme cold; however, when it drops below 50, it's nice to throw on something with warmth and mobility. Really loving the Delta AR and would highly recommend spending the money if you're looking for style, warmth and comfort. I have 3 or 4 Arc'Teryx shirts for summer wear, and I'm a HUGE fan of the brand; but, this Delta AR fleece is unbelievable! I'm definitely planning to buy a couple more! Looking forward to trying it out in super cold weather as a mid-layer; but awesome by itself.

Perfect Fleece
January 13, 2013

This is my second Delta AR Zip Shirt. I originally had a black one which I wore all the time, both for outdoor activities and simply at home. Since I wore it all the time, I decided to buy another one, of different color for a variety. I would buy a third one if I could. I'm 5'10" and weight approximately 170 lbs. If it helps, I wear 15/5 and 33 dress shirt and 38 suit size. I purchased MEDIUM and it fits perfect. You can wear it simply over a t-shirt for a typical fall day. For colder days, I wear it as a mid-layer under a shell. For me, this is my "go to" shirt on weekends. If you like wearing "fleece" type shirts, this is perfect. In terms of quality, you can't go wrong with Arc'teryx. I've worn this shirt for the past year without ANY problems and I imagine I won't in the near future.

Grid pattern works wonders!
July 01, 2010

The best thing about this fleece is the grid pattern that's on both the interior and exterior: it's great at venting out heat and perspiration. Medium offers a good mid layer/athletic fit with plenty of length (6'0"/180 lbs.) -- Large is pretty big, but might be OK if you're going for a loose/casual fit or plan on using it as an outer layer.

Love these!
October 22, 2006

January 06, 2011

Great quality, light weight and very warm feeling. Soft. The fit was right on. Only issue is the color -- With "carbide" I was not expecting the sage green that arrived.

Great midlayer
December 30, 2009

Warm yet lightweight and cool.

Five stars
February 14, 2010

I admit it. I'm in love. It's a minority obsession, but candy-apple red floats my boat. It seems to be sold out everywhere in medium, which is a shame. Other than that, this has all the Arcteryx hallmarks of quality and care. It is, however, a bit longer than some of their other fleeces (about the length of the excellent fission jacket)... which you can also buy in candy-apple red, but that's another story.

Great product except for the smell!
December 24, 2009

A well-made trim-fitting garment, and warm, but I sure wish they could do something so that the material does not pick up body odor so badly. This seems to be an inherent problem since day one with synthetic materials regardless of who makes them. Guess I'll stick to merino wool in the future.

it does it all.
March 03, 2012

This single piece does it all when the weather is cold. It is a perfect midlayer under a hard sheel when the temperature drops down. It is warm like rho ar. But you better choose a size down than usual. I choose large rho ar, but medium is the right size for this fleece. It is quite roomy. Overall, I love it. thanks again ARCTERYX.
