Men's Fission SL Jacket 4.9 5 44 44
Men's Arcteryx Fission SL Jacket Very light, stylish, well fitting, yet warm. Best in technical wear. Have not had it long so could not attest to durability but it should last long if taken care of. Has become my favorite jacket to wear when cold. It is incredibly light yet provides ample amount of warms. Not the overheating type but just comfortable. Seems to self regulate since I can wear it comfortably even in indoors. I will use it for skiing as well as regular wear when going around town since it is quite stylish. No frills jacket. Pure purpose! November 22, 2011
The best jacket When you purchase this jacket before, you won't understand a jacket can so fascinating. This jacket warmth retention property is very good and very light weight. I like black, because black can let me keep calm. If you want to be a top outdoor sports person, buy it! November 9, 2011
Quality Product I'm 5'5" 135lbs, in shape and athletic build. What i like about it is that it fits true to size and slimmer than your average jacket. This jacket, in Small, looks slim on me but still leaves room for layering, and it's slightly puffy. I used it during 30F in wet/snowy conditions, no question with warmth. What I liked and the main reason I purchased this jacket was for warmth and the pit zips which came in handy when I needed some cool air in. The second reason I purchased this jacket was because the hood is insulated and adjustable, from actually using it, it is very warm and roomy for a helmet. I didn't need a helmet so I adjusted to fit my head comfortably, it's also covered with Goretex as well. Goretex material, waterproof!!!!, I was 100% dry and warm; water beads right off, very impressed with that. I only wish it had at least an extra pocket or two, otherwise weighs close to nothing, very compressible and finally, warmth to weight ratio is phenomenal. November 6, 2011
Excellent jacket The best jacket, hands down, that I have ever owned. Although I would have preferred some more pockets and some more gadgets in it (especially the sleeves could have been improved IMO), but that's OK I prefer to go for the overall excellent quality and sturdiness rather than flimsy gadgets and "bells & whistles". Yes, the jacket is rather spartan, but built with the finest materials, and very solidly executed. One of the main reasons to choose this model for me was the availability of the XS size. That was a great choice as it fits me perfectly and don't need heavy layering underneath #fall here in Scandinavia is around 48F# and can bike to work with it, no problem. Sure it is a lot of money thrown into one single jacket, but so far it seems like the investment was well worth it. This piece will serve me well for many winter days, for many years. Awesome jacket, As for me, it's the best Arc'teryx jacket, of course, its price is most expensive. But it is absolutely worth with its price. Due to its materials , it's waterproof. secondly, its insulation has a high tech, it's very warm in winter. Moreover, it looks so cool and has a very high quality, I love it very much. September 8, 2011
light and warm This used to be the most expensive jacket arc'teryx put out, yet it is worth every penny. Very light, but super warm and comfortable. Waterproof outer shell makes it perfect for winter activities. The cut is a bit thinner than my other jackets, so I can't put much thermal layer under it. But I really don't need to put much under, because it is so toasty warm. I wish there were more colors to choose from when I bought it. August 31, 2011
Worth Every Penny This Canadian made jacket is THE jacket to end all. I bought this at the tail end of the season to catch some of the last snow in Idaho. My only concern with this model was the question of durability. I'm not the best skier, and plan on taking my share of falls (and did) - but not a tear to be found at the end of the day. I still think I may revert back to my Arcteryx Atlas SV for hunting in the heavy Tennessee brush come deer season...but for all around comfort, packability, breathability - this jacket delivers; and IMHO is on the reasonable side of price. (Until you've been cold and damp...and would've given your front teeth to be warm and dry - you'll have no understanding of what is expensive, and what's worth the investment. This one's easily worth every penny!) 5' 11" 175lbs. (L) is on the money with room for a sweater or mid layer. July 6, 2011
Fission SL After wearing this jacking through two arctic snow storm this year. I must say I'm extreamely impressed with this jacket. Ultra warm, ultra compressible, and very light. This jacket is not quite as compressible as down but very close not to mention this jacket is completly weather proof. I think this is the best jacke I ever owned. The arm pit zipper is excellent for ventilation. Inside pockets are well placd and large enough for hat and gloves. I would highly recommand this to anyone. I would defintly consider buying one for my wife. Just wish Altrec carry this jacket for woman. February 9, 2011
Great all-round jacket Now the fit on this jacket is a little small, such that you can't really wear much more than a base layer and a thin mid-layer underneath. I like the torso length, but I don't really find a need to have 2 zippers in the front, so that you can zip the jacket up or down. I like the pit zips. I also noticed that you can use the jacket as a mid-layer, like the Atom SV hoody. This is a snug fitting jacket. February 9, 2011
Excellent Jacket I have ever. This is a great Jacket I have ever.Very warm and super lightweight. Even -10 degree,I just wear a shirt in inside, then wear this jacket. I didn't feel cold. The most important thing is this jacket very lightweight and keep you warm, too!! about Size, this jacket Small size fits me well.. 178cm 76kg. After I got this jacket,I love it,too much. I don't need wear heavy wool jacket or very hugh down jacket to go out in winter. Besides, this is a perfect jacket for snow skiing. It is waterproof and windproof, too. you can feel free to enjoy your activities and be warm in the winter. January 29, 2011
Wife is Jealous I purchased a size large in Lichen and love it. 6' 3" 185 pounds and it fits great. I have been skiing twice in it and love it. The jacket is quite warm and breathable. My favorite thing about the jacket is how it keeps you warm but not roasting. It's like it has a thermostat in it. The wife is quite jealous of my jacket. Fortunately it doesn't fit her. The Lichen is a bit more green than the picture indicates (at least that's my take) and is great for skiing because you don't look like everyone else. Oh yeah - the jacket is light as a feather. January 22, 2011
Awesome Jacket I bought this based on the sale price and the other reviews on this site. Pros: Super warm - Lets me go onut in mid-20"s weather wearing only a short sleeve T-Shirt and the jacket. Super Wind/Water Proof - You just don't feel the wind. You only feel wind where this is no jacket, like your face. Super light - At first it's hard to believe that something this light will keep you warm enough in cold weather. But after wearing it a few times you really come to appreciate the weight (or lack thereof). Cons: Cost - pricey for a jacket. It's a hard sell if someone asks you about the jacket Zippers - I'm still trying to figure out how to pull up the pocket zippers one-handed. Storage - Only 4 pockets. 2 internal and 2 external. I would have like a small chest pocket (inside or outside) for phone or wallet. Pit Zips - Don't usually like using pit zips for ventilation. The presence of a pit zip makes that part of the jacket seem more rigid. Spoils the overall soft/squishy feel of the jacket. Overall, I really like the jacket. The weight to warmth ratio is worth the extra cost to me. Though I can see where most people would balk at the cost. Luckily I was able to get it on sale at Altrec. Unlike some of the other reviews, the noise of the jacket didn't bother me. I was really worried about this, but it was much quieter than I was expecting. That said, there is some "crunching" noise when you compress the jacket or flex it a lot. Also, I'm not a big guy (5"5" and 155lbs) and the medium fit me pretty well. The sleeves are just slightly too long, but the body fits good. January 17, 2011
Light and warm , fits great ,enjoy winter! I am old and my friends have all moved to the south , I am in cold weather that is often in the teens and below zero. The jacket allows me to enjoy walking and the outdoors. I often take photos in the winter and need a jacket that does not restrict me. This jacket is perfect and allows me to enjoy the winter. I had a jacket like this one that lasted me for 15 years... now I have found another like it I am sure it will outlast me and allow me to enjoy the winter storms. Its just perfect for an old person that does not want to have a bulky jacket. I try to walk at least five miles a day and its a real test of a jacket when its in the teens and snow in the winter. January 13, 2011
Very nice Jacket. This is the only jacket you will need for this winter. It is very light and warm. November 30, 2010
Best jacket Without any doubt, It 's the best jacket I met, What impressed me most is that it 's so light while it provide much warmth. I can't imagine its weight. When I see it, I can't believe it can protect me in the cold weather. After I wear it, Absolutely warm, moreover, it can prevent chilly wind because of its Gore-tex pro shell materials. I like it very much. Thanks Altrec. November 19, 2010
Extremely warm and light Extremely light and warm jacket. True to size. The only jacket you will need all winter. November 10, 2010
great jacket I highly recommend the Fission SL jacket. It is light down jacket that is very warm for its weight and is made from high quality materials. The outer layer is thin and flexible and the filling is not bulky making the jacket very compressible. The pockets are large and easily accessible and the hood easily fits over my ski helmet. One drawback is that the jacket does not have a powder-skirt. I am 5'10", 165 lbs and found the L to fit larger compared with other Arcteryx shell jackets I have tried;especially in the shoulders and sleeve length. November 9, 2010
Very good This product is super-light, wind proof, and fits me very well, I am 170cm tall and 70kg, the M size is proper. November 1, 2010
ascent not descent (get it?) This is, in all likelihood, the pinnacle of jackethood (and yes it fits a helmet). Like everything amazing, it is specialized in it's design. First, it's light, then it's warm and last, well constructed. But it's not for skiing, really. It's more of a climbing and then stopping and freezing and needing a jacket-jacket. It does have the pit-zips, which make you think twice about all this but it's really not for descent. It also has a rather flimsy, weightless nature that increases this point in an etherial way. Like, even if you wanted to, when you touch it, it just wouldn't feel like a ski jacket. What it IS great for is folding up and stuffing into your pack, really really small. Climbing up a big old hill and then pulling out... and yelling, "Ha-ha! I have fooled you, I will NOT freeze to death!" But then again, you wouldn't be able to hear yourself say that because your voice would be drowned-out by the jacket itself which is so incredibly loud and crinkly!!! October 27, 2010
good jacket Good jacket. It is expensive but worth the money. Light and warm. Good for ski. October 20, 2010
Nice Jacket This is a good looking jacket that keeps you nice and warm. It is pretty much true to size, I'm 5'8, 150 and the small fits perfectly. I use this jacket to help me get through the New England winters. September 27, 2010
FISSION SL is the perfect jacket on the earth super light & warm jacket of this kind. by far the best jacket I've own. If you are comparing with other jackets, just stop and buy this jacket. No regret there August 31, 2010
Light and Waterproof This jacket is light, windproof and waterproof. Arc'teryx just uses the best material to construct this jacket. I wished that it has more pockets but in general, It is probably the best winter jacket I have ever owned. Altrec is also the best providing the best shipping service. July 28, 2010
Great light jacket This is pretty much all you need for winter. This is light and block all the wind and rain. Yet it is super light. If you get hot just unzip the armpit. Overall, it is a 10/10 jacket. Two thumbs up. I am 6'1 and 185 lbs, Large is perfect. Highly recommended! April 14, 2010
great three season jacket This is a wonderful jacket. Highest quality materials and workmanship. It is very warm but very light weight. Regular fit, not oversized fit. I like this jacket that is a gift so much that I plan on buying one for myself. Another great product from Arc'teryx. April 2, 2010
Perfect all around winter jacket Very lightweight and durable. Perfect for outdoor winter activities without having to layer much underneath. March 23, 2010
very warm~ my Fission SL Jacket is very warm and light March 14, 2010
So light and so warm! I have been wearing this every day now. It has been keeping me dry for the past 3 weeks, yet it is super warm. I don't think that I need any other winter jacket anymore. I am 180 lbs, 6', size large is perfect. Highly recommended! January 25, 2010
Awesome Jacket! Altrec.com is just great. I received my Fission SL Jacket in a very speedy manner. After owning 20 winter jackets, this is by far the best, lightest, warmest, and the most versatile jatket. I own two of them now. Treat yourself well. Life is too short. Get this jacket!! January 14, 2010
Fission SL - There is no equal! Aesthetics, form and function make this jacket a work of art. I have been an alpinist for twenty plus years and the Arc'teryx Fission SL has no equal. I wore a Patagonia Capilene base combined with the R1 pullover and the Fission SL. After 14 hours of mixed ice, sleet and rain the jacket performance was flawless. No changing gear to match weather conditions or climbing in wet, cold gear. You will experience complete confidence in a myriad of situations. January 12, 2010
WOW. Wow, this jacket is so awesome. LIGHT, Warm, Super-Thin, and comfortable. It always keeps me comfortable no matter where i am. When i am inside, it feels comfortable (72degree room and i don't even have to unzip), when i am outside in the cold, it feels comfortable. That the beauty part of this jacket. Put it on and forget about it. I wish there are more color selections. January 9, 2010
all I expected and more. I own other Arc'teryx products so I had high expectation, and this jacket is great. I don't live in Alaska or some polar extreme, but I live on the beach in New Hampshire where the wind blows everyday and sea spray will hit you as you walk the beach at 15 degrees, so I needed warm and dry... and this coat is it January 6, 2010
Too Light? This jacket is awfully light. That seems to be its main selling point. Wonder how it will stand up to steady use. The fit is unisex so bigger males may have a tight fit. January 5, 2010
THIS JACKET HAS NO COMPETITION ! There Are No Other Jackets Out There Like This One ~ The Arc'Teryx Fission SL Jacket Is The Lightest, Warmest, and Most Waterproof Jacket You Buy ! "THIS JACKET IS WORTH EVERY PENNEY I PAID FOR IT" > *Go For It !!!!!!!!!!! December 30, 2009
Really Really Great Great jacket, durable and fits true to size. Good product. December 28, 2009
Warm comfortable - excellent hood Works well with T shirt in 30F degrees + winds. Soft. Worth the $. Aztek color can get dirty easy. December 27, 2009
warm and a little bulky no snow skirt but a very warm jacket December 20, 2009
Super Light Here's my pros and cons list: Pros: Super light can be compressed into size of a volleyball very warm Lots of room in the hood. Almost like having your own awning Pit zips should be very effective in cooling you down they open to whatever you have on underneath, no mesh Cons: No plastic zipper pulls, come on $700 jacket and no zipper pulls, just plain ole cord, Pit Zips are kinda hard to open and close Material attracts dust, Material sounds like crinking wax paper, not the most quiet jacket Overall superlight and warm. I hope the material holds up to woods life. December 18, 2009
Sweet Jacket Just received my Arcteryx Fission SL Jacket. Super warm and lightweight! Will be perfect for the backcountry excursions and some winter camping. Now I can have one winter jacket that does it all! December 11, 2009
The best! My absolute favorite jacket! The fit is perfect. It doesn't stick out at all. Great warmth to weight ratio. A t-shirt and this jacket is all you will need to keep warm! November 29, 2009
So great! I really love this jacket.Supper warm and the interior is soft. The Gore-Tex Pro Shell is amazingly rugged. Very tough shoulders and wrists and the rip-stop style shell body is a nice touch. July 23, 2009
Synthetic down?!? First impressions - this is an amazing piece of work by Arc'teryx. The feel of the Fission SL reminds me of an ultralight down jacket - weighs practically nothing and feels silky smooth against your skin. The 2L ProShell outer layer is extremely thin, yet supposedly very durable. The inner lining (black version) is an odd brownish color (with a purple hue?), and looks/feels like ripstop silnylon (to which the ThermaTek insulation has apparently been laminated on the inside). Although I haven't tried it, this jacket seems to be highly compressible! Very warm. First (and only) test run was 35F with steady rain - I could have spent all day hanging out in that rain! Once I got moving on an ascent, it heated up pretty quickly and got a bit clammy inside. Pit zips are a godsend, but it was difficult to dry out (taking a break to cool down might have worked). Complaints - velcro cuff closures are cut strangely and can poke out uncomfortably unless properly adjusted (maybe there's a purpose?). Hand pockets are minimally insulated (most/all the insulation on mine seems to be behind the pocket), but they're windproof and pretty warm so far. Collar is not independent of the hood (a feature common to many Arc'teryx jackets), but this is a minimalist piece, so to be expected. Fit appears to be normal for Arc'teryx, a bit on the puffy side, but considering the warmth it's nothing really. Plenty of winter testing yet to be done, but so far - amazing performance considering there doesn't seem to be much to it!! December 1, 2008
Nice!!!!!!!! This jacket is incredible. Yesterday I was out in a 30 mph, 28 degree wind and driving snow. I was wearing a flannel shirt and the Fission SL. Warm and toasty and yet it is so light and well-cut that it feels like you are wearing nothing at all. I have three other Arcteryx jackets. Two of them are deeply disappointing because the sleeves are lined with high-friction fabric that makes them hard to put on and take off. The sleeves also constrain your movements while you wear the jacket. Beware! November 14, 2008
Great jacket!!!! Wonderfully light, warm, very comfortable, and great looking, I love it and highly recommend this jacket. I know it's a bit pricey, but well worth every penny! November 12, 2008
