Description

An all mountain jacket for alpine adventures, The Men's Arc'teryx Fission SV Jacket is the warmest of the waterproof insulated jackets. An outer shell made from 2-layer Gore Tex® Pro fabric makes this Arc'teryx hoodie fully waterproof and breathable. Lightweight Coreloft insulation keeps you warm in high elevation storms and compresses into a small parcel that is easy to pack when the sun comes out. WaterTight™ external zippers keep the weather out and one-hand adjustable drawcords customize the fit. Designed for outdoor athletes, this Arc'teryx jacket keeps the details to a necessary minimum and reinforces the shoulders, arms and hips for durability in high wear areas, resulting in a streamlined, lightweight performance piece. An insulated hood and a longer cut give you warmth and coverage where you need it. You'll have ultimate protection from nature's worst when you're wearing the Arcteryx Fission SV Jacket for men.

Warm, lightweight, durable
November 10, 2012

I'm a Fission freak... have the AR, SL, and SV. This one is definitely the warmest. I like that this jacket feels so structured. The Gore-Tex pro shell material is extremely durable and adds a nice tailored shape to the entire length of the jacket. I don't like to mess around with layers, so this is the perfect winter jacket for me. I can wear only a shirt underneath and feel warm down to the single digits. Haven't tried it for skiing yet, but I'm sure it will be stellar. Two drawstrings (one at hem, one at waist) = a huge plus. I wish it was an inch or two longer in the front to replace a full parka, but it practically does the job anyway. I don't like a baggy jacket, so a medium is perfect for my 5'11" 185lb athletic frame. If I gain any weight I could see it being a bit too tight around the underarms, though.

Pros: warm, lightweight, weather-resistant, Build quality, Cons: expensive

Perfect All-In-One Shell
January 10, 2011

This is a typical jacket with insulation, and all weather protection. But what I especially like about this jacket, is it's trim fit and the pit zips. Usually, your shell has pit zips, but your insulation layer underneath, does not. But with the Fission SL, you have pit zips, all the way through, which is great for ventilation.

Absolutely great insulated jacket, Since got it, I didn't fear any cold weather in this winter. Arc'teryx jacket never disappoint me , especially this jacket, extremely warm, breathable, waterproof , windproof and durable, it almost provide any features as a insulated jacket. Only one disadvantage is its weight. it's heavier than I thought, but it's not critical. I am so satisfied with it.

the ARC'tTERYX FISSION SV is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
December 14, 2010

I was a little skeptical as to whether or not this jacket was going to be a worthwhile investment due to its seemingly expensive pricetag...however once I began to wear this finest of shells there was no turning back!!! This is by all means the warmest, most comfortable jacket i have ever owned! The styling is second to none and the engineering is simply the best!! I was however able to save a huge bundle off that hefty pricetag by writing one of these nifty reviews for a 20% code!!! sweet!! now I will be warm and toasty all winter long and well, with this next review I am about to make another major purchase on this awesome website called ALTREC, thank you very much!!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Warmest jacket bought ever
January 03, 2012

Bought this jacket before X'mas but have yet to wear it out as the weather has been quite warm in NYC this winter. Tried it at home a few times. Extremely warm and the fit is great. Sticking with the Fission AR jacket, a very satisfied purchase from Altrec for now. Hopefully the mercury will drop and give me a chance to wear the new Fission SV soon. If you are looking for the warmest and lightest jacket in the market, get the Fission SV, no need to look any further.

This coat is magic!
February 12, 2011

Other reviews were hard to believe -this coat seemed too good to be true, but they were right. Light weight, keeps you comfortable warm, but not hot. Last few weeks in Midwest have been sub-zero with feet of snow - comfortable and warm throughout. I wished I bought it earlier. XL fits perfect for 6' 220lb

Superb jacket - Typical Arc'teryx build
March 28, 2012

I've been wearing the Fission SV for most of this winter in a variety of climates. First of all, let me say that it is typical superb Arc'teryx design and quality, and I very happy with it. The jacket is extremely warm, and comfortable; perhaps too warm for most ski days in New Mexico, where I live. I had it up in Colorado skiing on a windy day of 15F with a thin base layer and a thin fleece mid-layer and it was perfectly comfortable. Recently I tested it in windy, very wet blizzard conditions on the slopes in Japan, with the temp. around freezing. By the end of each run I was coated in snow and ice, looking more like I had fallen all the way down the mountain, but the jacket kept me warm and dry: no leaks and no cold spots. I usually never need the hood, but on his day it was great to have, and I rarely have the collar zipped full up, but on this day I appreciated the warmth and comfort of the full collar. I am 5'9", medium build at 155lbs and the medium fits perfectly.

Outstanding so far, one minor gripe
January 03, 2012

I have to admit, I wouldn't normally spend this kind of money on a coat, but I really like my Gamma MX jacket, so I splurged. All I can say is WOW! The coat is easily the warmest I have ever had. So far it has held up to wind, rain, and cold very well. I even was able to walk the dog with just a t-shirt on under my coat, and stayed warm the whole time. My one gripe is the zippers. The are finally a little more friendly, but initially are a real pain. You'd think for the price that they would easily zip up and down. Having to remove your gloves to get it to work = not fun. As mentioned though, they are much better after a little use. Overall, I'd highly recommend it. I was worried about the hood, but it's been a big help too with the wind. It's a keeper.

Pros: Performance, Cons: zippers can be tricky

Toastiest jacket of all
January 04, 2013

This jacket is ridiculous. I can get to class in the nastiest of weather with just a t-shirt underneath. They don't lie when they say it's their warmest jacket. I'm 6'5" and skinny and the large fits well. Sleeves could be a tad longer but I'm used it. If you're shorter than me you'll be fine. I have tried skiing in it in 30 degree weather and it can get a little too warm.

It is good work.
March 28, 2011

It was fit though it exactly put on in winter. Warmth, lightness, the storm protection, endurance, and any are very highest. It is likely to be able to go anywhere even in Alaska and the North Pole if this is. It is the highest exactly item of winter.

best cold weather jacket
January 18, 2011

Wow, this jacket is warm. i bought this jacket to weather the cold in seoul, korea this winter and im glad i paid up for this product. i've read other reviews touting how warm this jacket is but this jacket is WARM. the weather in seoul has been around -17 Celsius(1.5 Fahrenheit) but this jacket keeps me warm. if you want a warm jacket thats light and not bulky, this is the one to get. it's expensive, but cry once and get the best.

One of the best Arc'teryx values
January 26, 2012

The Fission SV is a great cold-weather jacket! It’s completely waterproof, incredibly warm, and blocks out the wind. The heavy duty outer shell includes reinforcement at high wear areas. The one thing to keep in mind is that it’s not versatile – wear it when it’s really cold and that’s it. Over 30 degrees this jacket is just way too much. But if you’re looking for something super warm and durable this has to be one of the best values in the Arcteryx lineup.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
