lightweight baselayer
January 27, 2012

Fit is anatomical. They are tights. On first wear they seem well made. Good for when you're moving in cool to cold conditions. On a cold day I started to feel chilly when stopped but warmed right up once I started moving. For cold conditions and little movement get a heavier baselayer. I think they will be excellent for spring skiing. My only complaint is that they don't fit higher on the waist. After ripping through lightweight wool baselayers decided to return to synthetic to see how they compare again.

Nice all around base layer
December 06, 2011

The Phase AR is not as warm as the Phase SV even though it weighs almost as much. But sometimes the SV is more than you need. The AR is softer and more comfortable fabric than the SV. It's also less bulky although neither takes up much space. Note the Phase SL is much lighter, but it is not nearly as warm as the AR. The AR bottoms felt tight, especially below the knee, but not extremely so. All of the Phasic fabrics are very fast to dry as well.

Light-weight base layer
April 26, 2011

Bought these for those warm spring skiing days in the Sierra, they fit the bill for that. I use the RHO AR pants for colder days. These take a little getting use to as the stretch is not as much as the RHO in the knees, however it doesn't seem to get baggy either which is good. Also, they are not flannel like on the inside, more of a real tight. I would put them as cooler than the RHO LT so plan accordingly, however just right for spring skiing with my un-insulated ski pants on top, and they keep my legs from feeling clammy against the snow pants. I like the fact that there is no men's fly opening in the front so if I wear them without the ski pants it doesn't look like underwear. I will be watching them to see how they last, however like most Arcteryx stuff I assume they will do great.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
