Climbing, hiking, relaxing -- you name it, the Arc'teryx Rampart Long Shorts for men can handle it. Arc'teryx designed these knee-length shorts to meet the versatile demands of an active day without compromising on casual style. They're cool and stylish enough to blend in while waiting in line for your morning caffeine fix yet technical enough to facilitate that dyno move on the bouldering problem du jour.

At first touch, you notice the lightweight and soft hand feel of the shorts. The lightweight, technical TerraTex™ nylon fabric is breathable and quick to dry, while the articulated seat and gusseted crotch design provide a great range of motion for active pursuits. In addition to the two hand pockets, you'll find cargo pockets on each thigh and two rear pockets. The wide waist band and belt loops help provide a comfortable fit, while a zip fly with snap closure and a subtle embroidered logo finish off the details.

Not so long
December 05, 2010

If you're looking for a breathable, quick drying pair of shorts these will work. For me I was looking for a longer pair of shorts that fit my preferred style. Although these shorts are nice I do not think they should be called "long shorts." I honestly refrain from wearing these shorts occasionally as they are too short and I fell a bit uncomfortable.

Best shorts ever
October 13, 2010

Great fit, great look, right length, and very light weight. I have worn these a lot over the summer and they still look like they did from day one. I will be ordering another pair. Wish they weren't so pricey, but I see why.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Comfortable and attractive

Comfortable enough for my 16 mile bicycle commute, stylish and attractive enough for hitting the coffee houses.

Favorite Shorts
November 18, 2010

These shorts are the best. They much better than the Preceda (tight around the waist area) and Tactician (elastic waist is too tight). Ample pockets. They are extremely light, comfortable and the fit is perfect. I clicked "great value" because I have worn them so much more often than my other shorts.

Top notch comfort for hiking
March 26, 2011

These shorts are super comfortable. Stay clean well and are also great for hiking and kicking around. The only limitation is that they are a bit 'swishy' as in noisy a wee bit when you walk around. Love the look though and hang nicely.

Great shorts. The only thing that concerns me is the button on the waist, I just feel that will become a problem one day (too lose to use perhaps). For now, it is great!

rampart long short
December 09, 2010

These shorts are amazing. Already had the pants. The fabric is durable and very comfortable. My sons favorites as he is over 6" and the length is great.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance

Exactly what I needed.

I'm getting more and more impressed with the Arc'teryx line the more items I try. These shorts are some of the best I've ever had. Lightweight yet strong and sturdy. Practical with a lot of pockets yet looks very good and has a great fit. Very true to size. I'll look for the pants version of these.

Men's Rampart Long Shorts
July 13, 2011

I like the pants! The material of fabric is wonderful for travelling! It’s light weight /breath well and dry fast! The only issue is the TRUE size! The size 36 pants actually is size 38 inches…so I don’t know why every one said it’s athlete cut? It actually fits bigger than the regular casual pants size!

Longish shorts
May 01, 2011

Comes to just below the knee... perhaps not the most fashionable, but super-comfy and lightweight, just like the Rampart pant. Pocket zips would be nice for bouldering, but you can't have it all. Typical Arc'x quality, despite offshore manufacturing. Go one size up for comfort -- they're not kidding about the 'athletic' fit.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

My wife made me......

throw out my holy shorts and get something that didn't embarrass her like my oldies. The rampart longs are super light and fit very nicely. Great for the urban jungle too, so far so good.

Great hot weather shorts
November 01, 2010

These fit very well and are great for hot weather hiking. They do not feel clammy or wet, and a very flexible cut which makes them great for mountains. Not sure about durability because I have only had them for a season but Arcteryx rarely disapoints. A little pricey for shorts but I think this company makes some of best gear available.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

Best shorts I've ever owned
September 10, 2008

I purchased my first pair at a sporting goods store NJ, then came to Altrec to buy my second pair. I'm pretty crazy when it comes to cloths. Perhaps it's my italian heritage and love of textiles, materials, ect but these are the best shorts I've ever owned. They fit great, look great, have stretch to them without making you look like a "sausage". Performance has been great as they are the only shorts I've been wearing this summer. I couldn't have designed them better myself. I highly recommend them.

I really liked the Rampart pants so I thought I'd give the shorts a try and I'm glad I did. They have great movability though they do fit a little small. They'll be great out on the trail.

Prefer these over the Rogue shorts. Washes / dries super fast, ample pockets, light weight, good range of motion. My waist is probably 30 but i bought it looser in the crotch / legs....need belt which is annoying but what can you do. Only downfall is you look a little like a tourist in them.

Great Purchase
December 19, 2012

I took these shorts on a long trip to Africa, and I wore the shorts more than any other item of clothing I carried because they were extremely comfortable, breathed well, and dried quickly.

I like this short! It looks great with a white shirt, for a crisp, clean, athletic look. The material is lightweight and stretchy. Great for hiking and climbing..very flatterting fit for a long short, too.

Comfortable, durable, sharp-looking

Expensive but worth every penny!
July 26, 2012

I live in the heat. I need thin, durable shorts that fit and don't bind my legs when I hike and walk. These are the best fitting shorts I have ever owned. They are lightweight and very durable. The other thing I like is the safe pocket closure WITHOUT velcro. All the pockets have a unique flap to secure the pocket and NO velcro to fiddle with. I rearely spend this kind of money on shorts but it was an easy decision for these!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, no velcro pocket closures that work!, Cons: Cost

Extremely lightweight

These pants are feather weight and very comfortable. If you get caught in a light rain shower they dry rather quickly and still look good. Ideal for hiking or around town use.

Excellent Shorts
March 14, 2010

These shorts fit great and dry extremely fast. The double snap at the top makes for a secure close and gives them an interesting look. A great mixture of athletic and stylish features.

Would Have Been Great If they were in stock
October 23, 2009

I have the pants and love them. I ordered the shorts, but they were out of stock.
