a little baggy, a little loud, a lot bomb proof
January 15, 2013

huge fan of the brand, not afraid to pay extra to get the quality. i was a bit shocked on how baggy these pants are, especially considering the history of arcteryx...outside of that, the gortex pro is way too loud for my taste and to say these pants offer insulation is a stretch (they even bleed a little air at high speeds down the mountain)... that said, i'm not returning them ; ) they're comfortable, i trust the quality and the ability to keep me dry and really love the slide n lock feature!

Just got these pants and they fit true to size. Relaxed fit with articulated knees. I love the extra protection and durability of the inner cuff as prior ski pants have been trashed from ski edge cuts. This should not happen now. The ventilated zips are a great addition for cooling off in spring conditions. waterproof zippers and gortex make these very waterproof in all conditions. i like the light insulated lining which is much more comfortable than some shell pants with no lining. Plenty of DEEP pocket space.I am sure these will last me for a very long time

Grab a Little Technical Steeze
December 25, 2012

I got a pair of these through a GORE-TEX product testing program about two weeks ago. I've worn them in-bounds skiing a couple times since then and have been impressed with them. The Sabre pants definitely have a freeride style cut - wider legs and more-than generous boot cuffs (my feet almost disappear) and a slightly lower sitting waist. While loose-and-baggy usually isn't my style, the fit is comfortable and matches that latest trends in ski style. I consider these to be my steezy pants, a linguistic choice I think is backed by the bright color options (I went with the Cypress, which actually ended up being a pretty dark and nice shade of green). I would say that the pants fit slightly larger than normal - I'm a small according to Arc'teryx's fit chart (30 inch waist) and an extra small would probably fit me better. The built-in belt does an adequate job of holding the pants up, but I did supplement with an additional belt. So far the pants have been very waterproof, and, based on my other experiences with Arc'teryx gear I would expect them to remain so for a long time. One of the days i used them was in wetter snow and I stayed dry the entire time. While there isn't true insulation, the shells are thick enough to offer a bit of protection against cold chairs, wind and snow (something that my Theta SV bibs don't) and feels like it's thick enough to be durable. The oversized boot cuffs patches feel very tough and haven't shown any scratches yet. Despite this, the pants still avoid being too heavy to hike in. I haven't had to use the side zips yet, but they seem large enough to be effective. I love the large thigh pockets - they're easy to access when sitting or with a shell on and comfortably fit plenty of stuff. Overall, these pants feel very solid and are comfortable. They probably won't be the best for hiking, but I'm planning on doing at least some touring in them and will be rocking them as my every-day resort pant.

Great Pant
June 02, 2013

I bought this pant for my husband in a size large tall. This was one of the few brands that made a tall pant option for my husband who is 6'5" 195 lbs. It has been a great buy, as he has used it outside of its advertised use as a ski pant. It held up remarkably during our Patagonia trip as we did glacier walks and higher altitude hikes in snow and drizzle. He was completely comfortable and had no restrictions in his movements and it still looks new despite being dragged over rocks and ice. Very happy!

Arcteryx gives us a stylish pant
February 27, 2012

Finally, a pant for us snowboarders. I am 6'3", 180 lbs and got size large/tall in the Sabre pant. When they arrived I was immediately surprised by how long the pants were. I was walking all over the hem of the pant. Was about to return them for the normal length but tried them on with my snowboard boots on and bingo, the length was great, especially strapped into bindings. The fabric is stellar and I didn't find the belt to be that annoying. Well placed pockets. Awesome pant overall.

It is the best for snowboard.
December 22, 2010

It is the best for snowboard. Because movement is not comfortably disturbed by a fit, it is the best for the trick of snowboard. It is the best pants for the person who does both of both the waterproof and warmth snowboard.

Great Ski Pants
January 19, 2012

Got the Sabre Pants recently and immediately tried them out on the slopes locally. For the conditions of the day (cool temps but very windy), these pants just rocked! With just wearing ski thermal tights and the Sabre pants, I never got cold and the wind wasn't even a factor! The zippers are tight and won't let any air or moisture through! These pants are also large enough to allow you to wear a second layer for the really cold days when you are out in the back country. Remember, they are shell pants! The pockets are perfect for carrying things and you will never worry about the zippers opening up. I put food in one side and my wallet in the other and never feared of loosing them or have them get wet. With the RECCO system incorporated into the pants gave me the added safety system I was looking for when I am out in the back country skiing. Beacon, probe, shovel and RECCO! As for the price, well I believe that quality, functionality and fit of the pants make them a good deal, but when they added the RECCO system to the pants it made them a great deal! I believe that these are the best pants for skiing the back country and the slopes anywhere! These are now my everyday ski pants for skiing Alyeska and the local back country and will be the only pants I bring on my ski trip to Big Sky in March!

It is easy to be good to fit, and to put on the cloth softly. The color is also very beautiful.
