classic Arc'
April 10, 2012

these pants are classic, high-quality pants. everything is well done and the fit hasn't changed over the past several years. the fit is a little small @ the waist. the fit is also short @ the inseam as well. the waist is no problem, just order up one size if you're on the edge. the inseam is a little disappointing -- Arc' makes a 34inch, but it seems to always be sold out or not available. :-( great work pants. just work to find the 34" inseam if you have anything but short legs....

Great Pants...Not khaki
February 01, 2012

Arc Tery’x has outdone themselves on the Spotter pant. Durable, triple stiching and a great fit. The inner waist band is lined with a kind of micro fleece that’s a nice touch as well. Big Point: I RETURNED my spotter pants. The “carbide” pants on the website are khaki/tan in color with a navy blue Arc Teryx logo on the right leg. What was shipped is grey with a white logo. The tag even says “carbide.” So, what I ordered was what shipped...however...the product I saw on the website was not what was delivered. If you want awesome pants, but don’t mind the “grab bag” color...order the spotter pants.

Pros: Great design, Build quality
Cons: Cost, color doesnÂ’t match website

Awesome Pants!
January 30, 2012

I purchased these pants a few days ago and got right into using them when they came in. Winter here in NYC has been a bit chilly this year, and the first thing I noticed when stepping outside and wearing the Arc'Teryx Spotter Pants was that little to no wind penetrated through to my legs. Major thumbs up for that alone. Their fit and and comfort are also what you'd expect out of a pair of pants that cost as much as they do; meaning that they're awesome. I'm 5'9, 165 lbs with a fairly athletic build and a 32/30 fits me perfectly. Not too tight and not too loose, however they are on the slimmer side in regards to fit if that's a relevant quality to you. I like it, as it doesn't leave much to get caught on things if you're wearing them for their intended purpose(climbing/rough/active type stuff). The material feels tough but not abrasive - also a huge plus and one that adds to their level of comfort. These can be worn on a daily basis for sure. Overall I'm very pleased thus far and look forward to purchasing more Arc'Teryx products in the future, thanks Altrec!

Good Winter casual Pants
January 13, 2012

Pros Here in Minnesota the spotter pants do a fine job of blocking the cold wind. The soft lining around the waist is a real treat. Good alternative to jeans. Con Cotton wears out, so same care as jeans if you want them to last. I've worn through the knees of two pair.

December 30, 2011

These spotter pants are true to size, extremely durable and look good as well. I work in a relaxed office and I can wear these pants to work with a polo or a button down and move right out to the range get dirty and they don't show the wear. If I don't get dirty they still look great for a casual date. A must have for those people that need a pair of pants that are multi purposed. Highly recommended!

good pant
December 06, 2011

This is the only jean I can wear because it has a very nice crotch gussett, which if you have big thighs that rub together, have that extra material up high in your crotch, between your legs, helps keep things dry and comfortable down there. Apart from that, they are roomy. I wish that the legs would be more tapered, like the Gamma AR pant. I don't know why company's make the cuffs so big sometimes, unless of course you have ski boots underneath.

Great pants!
June 08, 2011

These are absolutely a great pair of pants! As soon as I got my first pair I went out and bought another one. The waist fits true and the length is a bit shorter than regular jeans. For example I usually get 34-36" waist jeans and the Spotter 36" waist was perfect on me. Fits close without being too snug. For the length, I always get 34" for any jeans but that mostly ends up being just too long and the jeans wrap around the bottom of my heels. For the Spotter pants, 34" was a perfect length and the hem doesn't interfere with my hiking boots or feet in any way. These pants are designed for mobility (I spent the first week breaking mine in by riding horseback and hiking every day) and there is no restriction for a whole range of movements. They are very durable as well, built with a fabric that feels stronger than denim but not as thick. My only complaint is that they don't have more colours, otherwise I could buy more pants and have one in each colour!

Nice casual shorts
June 05, 2011

I love this pants. The fit is not too loose or too snugged and I can move around with ease. I like the design around the knee area where it is bent just a little so you can move around comfortably. The material is very nice and it is very well built. The material around the waist makes it really nice when you start to sweat. The sizing is right on for 34 waist and 30 inseam.

Arc'teryx has put many thoughtful design features into the Spotter pant including the various pockets and articulated knees. As great as expected!
February 11, 2011

I'm very happy with the Arcteryx rampart shorts and long pants since before and the spotter pant has a pretty much almost identical fit. This is a great purchase if you want a pant with a bit thicker quality and that is closer to a pair of jeans.

Pros: Great design, Build quality

Stylish casual pant
December 14, 2010

I bought two different colours of these pants for my husband to replace the frumpy, worn-out jeans he prefers to wear on weekends. They have a very flattering cut and now that he has had several compliments on them, he wears them all the time! Quality fabric, good colours. He is 5' 8", 170 pounds, fit/muscular build and wears the 32 waist. My only complaint is that the pants tend to shrink- buy the longer length.

Comfort: 3 / 5

Shrinking
December 05, 2010

I initial impression on these pants were fantastic. They fit awesome. The pants are cut and sewn to fit the natural bends in the body. But after a couple of washes they started to shrink considerably. The waist stayed the same, but the legs lost about an inch. I originally purchased them because of the lower rise as compared to the MK's I have. But again, as they shrunk, so too did this area making them uncomfortable and a bit embarrassing if you know what I mean. A larger size would not have worked as the waist was already loose. I love Arc'teryx products and would recommend all but these pants.

Pros: Great design
Cons: Cost, shrinks quickly

These pants RULE! I have never been disappointed by any of the Arcteryx pants I've purchased. The cut is perfect and the fit is right on. I wear the Spotter pants often instead of jeans because they are more comfortable, more versatile, and, when worn with a sport coat or cashmere sweater, give a nice casual but sporty look that I like and that my wife and friends like. pretty good, but some sizing issues....
June 29, 2010

First off let me say I really liked these pants even though the first pair didn't fit. I usually wear a 32-33 waist in mountain khakis and I obviously needed a 34 in these as they were pretty snug. Length seemed to be true to size. Also they are ride really low on the waist, not an issue if you have a diet of coffee and cigarettes (as I do), or exercise and eat right (as I try to do).

Hope these pants are never discontinued. They're awesome!

GRAT FIT AND CONSTRUCTION!
May 22, 2010

Just received these, and boy were they a good buy. The material feels as though it will last for a couple years with regular wear. The fit is almost tailored. A tad bit low on the waist, but with just the right amount of room in the thighs and falls just right to my shoes. Pockets are set just right, they fall right under the hands and the styling is great! Definitely not your typical pair of casual pants! The detailing is superb. Going to get two more pair.

best pants i've ever owned
May 05, 2010

i live in mine. have been wearing them for 6 months and they seem to be tough - am noticing flight fray at the cuffs. they fit more snugly than other active-wear pants, lower on the hips too. sizing is tricky - REI's Granite pants I'm 36w 34l. in these 34w 32l.

Fantastic pants
May 04, 2010

These pants are incredibly comfortable. I am 6' tall, 175lbs and usually wear 35" waist. I bought these in 34" and they fit perfect. The articulated knees are perfectly functional and the pants are nice enough to wear around town. They are seriously some of the most comfortable pants I own!
