These canvas pants have a five-pocket design with roomy front and rear pockets and a side pocket that can accommodate smaller phone models. The relaxed fit is slim, not tight, and transitions from ascent to town effortlessly while the lined waist allows for casual comfort wherever the day may lead.

4.7 out of 5
January 22, 2012
Versatile and comfortable, this is a great pant! Whether wearing these rock climbing, or going out to dinner, you will be psyched that you bought them. They are very well constructed, flattering, and durable. This is the third pair of Spotter Pants that my fiance has bought, and he will surely purchase them again. Buy yourself a pair today!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use
Arcteryx Conquers the Jean Industry--Too!
May 18, 2011
This is the only jean I can wear because it has a very nice crotch gussett, which if you have big thighs that rub together, have that extra material up high in your crotch, between your legs, helps keep things dry and comfortable down there. Apart from that, they are roomy. I wish that the legs would be more tapered, like the Gamma AR pant. I don't know why company's make the cuffs so big sometimes, unless of course you have ski boots underneath.
February 19, 2012
True to size. Comfortable with plenty of leg room. Quality construction throughout. Have already ordered a second pair. Package arrived quickly. I have never encountered a problem ordering thru Altrec.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Better than expected
April 20, 2011
I have been satisfied with this "chicken bone" brand. These pants are top quality, stitches are very neat, very comfortable, tough, very tough, just like all of Arcteryx products I have had before.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Good Winter casual Pants
January 13, 2012
Pros Here in Minnesota the spotter pants do a fine job of blocking the cold wind. The soft lining around the waist is a real treat. Good alternative to jeans. Con Cotton wears out, so same care as jeans if you want them to last. I've worn through the knees of two pair.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
Really, really good quality pants
November 24, 2009
Do you actually have leg muscles (or perhaps a Scottish Highlander's calves)? If so these may be the pants for you. They are very well designed and built, with articulated panelling for movement, chamois like material at the waist and generally very good quality materials.
May 04, 2010
These pants are incredibly comfortable. I am 6' tall, 175lbs and usually wear 35" waist. I bought these in 34" and they fit perfect. The articulated knees are perfectly functional and the pants are nice enough to wear around town. They are seriously some of the most comfortable pants I own!
cool and comfortables
November 11, 2009
Geat look, comfort and very "cool" for european people;very good price.Probably will buy another
GRAT FIT AND CONSTRUCTION!
May 22, 2010
Just received these, and boy were they a good buy. The material feels as though it will last for a couple years with regular wear. The fit is almost tailored. A tad bit low on the waist, but with just the right amount of room in the thighs and falls just right to my shoes. Pockets are set just right, they fall right under the hands and the styling is great! Definitely not your typical pair of casual pants! The detailing is superb. Going to get two more pair.
great for climbing, hiking, and those that need a
October 21, 2010
These are a simple, well-fitting, durable pant. They are great for climbing, hiking, and those that need a pant that will last. Because the correspondence of the shop is good, it always buys it here.Pros: Ease of use
April 10, 2012
these pants are classic, high-quality pants. everything is well done and the fit hasn't changed over the past several years. the fit is a little small @ the waist. the fit is also short @ the inseam as well. the waist is no problem, just order up one size if you're on the edge. the inseam is a little disappointing -- Arc' makes a 34inch, but it seems to always be sold out or not available. :-( great work pants. just work to find the 34" inseam if you have anything but short legs....Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever
November 29, 2011
Great overall pants. Very versatile. i'm 5'7 140# and the 30X32's fit perfect. They do ride a little low on hips, but looks great. i've mainly used them for urban use.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
Stylish casual pant
December 14, 2010
I bought two different colours of these pants for my husband to replace the frumpy, worn-out jeans he prefers to wear on weekends. They have a very flattering cut and now that he has had several compliments on them, he wears them all the time! Quality fabric, good colours. He is 5' 8", 170 pounds, fit/muscular build and wears the 32 waist. My only complaint is that the pants tend to shrink- buy the longer length.
Good Pant, Great Fit. Recommended.
November 08, 2009
The pants pant fit is great and very comfortable. They fit me better than any other pants I have worn. High quality material. Only complaint, I have two pairs of these pants, both are 32" inseam but one is a bit shorter.
December 05, 2010
I initial impression on these pants were fantastic. They fit awesome. The pants are cut and sewn to fit the natural bends in the body. But after a couple of washes they started to shrink considerably. The waist stayed the same, but the legs lost about an inch. I originally purchased them because of the lower rise as compared to the MK's I have. But again, as they shrunk, so too did this area making them uncomfortable and a bit embarrassing if you know what I mean. A larger size would not have worked as the waist was already loose. I love Arc'teryx products and would recommend all but these pants.Pros: Great design, Cons: Cost, shrinks quickly
November 08, 2010
It is classic. The pant is very tough and thick. Good for hiking use. These pants are super comfortable. Doesn't matter if you're hiking, doing yard work, or hanging around town. You won't be disappointed with these pants.
Very mobile pant
December 08, 2009
This is a great outdoor pant, lightweight cotton, great fit and super comfortable. Cotton has its problems with absorbing water but for the relatively dry California winter this pant is just perfect. Very easy to move around in as well, Arc has done a fine job again.
Amazingly good fit
January 04, 2010
I spend most of my time in sweats because I don't like tight-fitting pants. These are dressy enough to wear to work but don't bind or feel tight in the crotch. I'm ordering a second pair.
Great Pants...Not khaki
February 01, 2012
Arc Teryx has outdone themselves on the Spotter pant. Durable, triple stiching and a great fit. The inner waist band is lined with a kind of micro fleece thats a nice touch as well. Big Point: I RETURNED my spotter pants. The carbide pants on the website are khaki/tan in color with a navy blue Arc Teryx logo on the right leg. What was shipped is grey with a white logo. The tag even says carbide. So, what I ordered was what shipped...however...the product I saw on the website was not what was delivered. If you want awesome pants, but dont mind the grab bag color...order the spotter pants.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Cons: Cost, color doesnt match website
March 30, 2010
The pants are a HIGH QUALITY and made out of a tough material. These pants are super comfortable w/ the articulated knees and soft chamois lined waist.
my favorite pants
January 20, 2010
I like the fit at the hips, the soft edging at the inside waist, and the just right stiffness of the material.
Size not consistent
October 29, 2011
I already have the Teton Twill shorts and I wear a 32 in waist, I bought the pants version and the waist is huge so the actual size is not consistent.
Comfort & Durability
September 19, 2010
These pants are extremely tough as well as very comfortable, and I wear them around town all year round. Might appear pricey, but these pants are worth every penny.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Cons: Cost
December 02, 2011
I was tired of blue Jeans. So got this charcoal colored spotter pants. Its very durable and comfortable. Thicker thread is very good for high wind area. Arc'teryx makes best Stuff. And ALTREC is my place to find these niche stuff!!!!!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: Cost
Just what you would expect from Arc'teryx
September 08, 2009
Great pants from Arc'teryx. They look and feel great. I think they are a little pricey considering that they are made overseas instead of in Canada. Oh well... I still love their products!
Tough, well fitting, attractive pants.
September 17, 2009
These pants are very sturdy, and are tailored with darts and panels to improve flexibility and durability. The waistband has a fuzzy liner to improve comfort. They have very deep pockets which are accessible from the appropriate angles. One problem I have with the pants is that my HTC Tilt, a (rather large) smartphone won't fit in the "phone pocket". Most normal sized dumbphones will fit in it just fine, and the remaining pockets are large enough to fit lots of items, so it's definitely not a deal breaker.
November 15, 2010
Comfortable, durable and stylish at the same time. The fit is very clean. With the 34" inseam that fits me perfectly, these are the nicest pair of all-around pants I've tried. Much better fit than carharts, more stylish than patagonia, and simpler/cleaner than the northface pants I've tried.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost
Live in these!
December 30, 2011
These spotter pants are true to size, extremely durable and look good as well. I work in a relaxed office and I can wear these pants to work with a polo or a button down and move right out to the range get dirty and they don't show the wear. If I don't get dirty they still look great for a casual date. A must have for those people that need a pair of pants that are multi purposed. Highly recommended!Pros: Performance
June 30, 2010
I really do like these pants. I've had them for about a year now and have no signs of wear. Arc'teryx always makes a good product.
Great look, very comfortable pants
October 26, 2009
I bought these pants for bouldering and the first day I had worn them, I couldn't take them off. They are good looking enough to wear in the casual office and rugged enough to take to the great outdoors. Probably the most comfortable pair of pants that I own. Great fit too!
November 29, 2009
I really do love these pants. I climb in these a lot and so far they have treated me great and don't have any signs of wear. Definitely rugged and can handle a little bit of fun. If you're an in between size go bigger. I like a 33 and the 34 works great for me.
November 19, 2009
These pants fit great. I just wear them casual & warehouse work. I'll probably pick up another pair in a different color.
Another great Arc'teryx product
May 19, 2011
Arc'teryx has put many thoughtful design features into the Spotter pant including the various pockets and articulated knees. The Spotter is very comfortable and yet durable which makes it my favorite go to pant for all outdoor activities. The pant fits true to size but rides fairly low on the hips.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost
January 30, 2012
I purchased these pants a few days ago and got right into using them when they came in. Winter here in NYC has been a bit chilly this year, and the first thing I noticed when stepping outside and wearing the Arc'Teryx Spotter Pants was that little to no wind penetrated through to my legs. Major thumbs up for that alone. Their fit and and comfort are also what you'd expect out of a pair of pants that cost as much as they do; meaning that they're awesome. I'm 5'9, 165 lbs with a fairly athletic build and a 32/30 fits me perfectly. Not too tight and not too loose, however they are on the slimmer side in regards to fit if that's a relevant quality to you. I like it, as it doesn't leave much to get caught on things if you're wearing them for their intended purpose(climbing/rough/active type stuff). The material feels tough but not abrasive - also a huge plus and one that adds to their level of comfort. These can be worn on a daily basis for sure. Overall I'm very pleased thus far and look forward to purchasing more Arc'Teryx products in the future, thanks Altrec!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, comfort
Best pants ever
February 02, 2010
I now have two pair of these as well as the long shorts and I love them all. The low-rise styling fits me very well. They are comfortable, stylish and tough as nails.
Stylish and comfortable
December 17, 2009
I like a lot this pant. This design is really amazing for me. I do cycling a lot and this pant fits quite well my legs...
June 08, 2011
These are absolutely a great pair of pants! As soon as I got my first pair I went out and bought another one. The waist fits true and the length is a bit shorter than regular jeans. For example I usually get 34-36" waist jeans and the Spotter 36" waist was perfect on me. Fits close without being too snug. For the length, I always get 34" for any jeans but that mostly ends up being just too long and the jeans wrap around the bottom of my heels. For the Spotter pants, 34" was a perfect length and the hem doesn't interfere with my hiking boots or feet in any way. These pants are designed for mobility (I spent the first week breaking mine in by riding horseback and hiking every day) and there is no restriction for a whole range of movements. They are very durable as well, built with a fabric that feels stronger than denim but not as thick. My only complaint is that they don't have more colours, otherwise I could buy more pants and have one in each colour!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
As great as expected!
February 11, 2011
I'm very happy with the Arcteryx rampart shorts and long pants since before and the spotter pant has a pretty much almost identical fit. This is a great purchase if you want a pant with a bit thicker quality and that is closer to a pair of jeans.Pros: Great design, Build quality
August 02, 2011
Well made pants and very comfortable. These pants are great for construction and odd jobs with well placed pockets and bomber construction. Good overall quality and comfort for work.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value
Arc'Teryx makes the best pants
January 18, 2010
This is my new favorite pair of pants, although Arc'Teryx always makes a great pair of pants. They are extremely comfortable, and have an athletic cut. For me, they seem true to size, smaller than many other manufacturers. The bamboo color looks great.
best pants i've ever owned
May 05, 2010
i live in mine. have been wearing them for 6 months and they seem to be tough - am noticing flight fray at the cuffs. they fit more snugly than other active-wear pants, lower on the hips too. sizing is tricky - REI's Granite pants I'm 36w 34l. in these 34w 32l.
The only pants you need
October 17, 2012
Arc'teryx has done it again! I have never been been disappointed with any Arc'teryx products and these pants are the most comfortable pants I have ever owned. I have traveled around the world and tried several different brands; none match the quality or fit or durability. You will not be disappointed with these pants!!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
November 20, 2011
I love these pants. They are comfortable and durable. I can wear them for work, for casual outings and for around the house. They fit great and last forever.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use
October 17, 2011
These are casual or work pants, definitely not for outdoor activities because of the heavy weight. Nice cotton canvas material...would be a nice alternative for denims.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
to those who love carharts
February 04, 2010
These are the closest thing to them that you can actually move in. aside from the great details cited in the product description, the back pockets are angled which makes getting stuff in and out easier with a rig on. the only thing to improve... more belt loops, but hey they are easy enough to add. all in all top notch.
Most comfortable pants on the market
December 14, 2009
I have bought three pairs over the last year - Most comfortable pants on the market (waist band)! True to size and offered in various lengths. Would like to see a nylon/cotton blend.
July 10, 2011
Pants are extremely comfy, nice active cut and dont ride up showing your socks when you sit down. The length i ordered is a 34, im 33 leg and they fit perfect. I will be buying a few more pairs for surePros: Great design, Performance, Cons: Cost
May 24, 2011
Great fit. Thicker cut material. I'm 6' 200 lbs these pants are very comfortable. I like the padding on the inside of the waist. They fit lower around the waist than other pants and that's good for comfort.Pros: Build quality, Cons: Cost
Great Trekking or Night Out Pants
February 19, 2013
The Arc'Teryx Spotter pants are durable and stylish enough to handle any trekking adventure or a relaxed night out in town. They sit low on the waist, trim cut and the lower leg portion flare out a bit to fit neatly around any boots. The front pockets are also deep so keys and the such should not fall out easily. Overall a great pant that should last me for a number of seasons.Pros: Build quality
ARCTERYX MENS SPOTTER PANTS
November 23, 2010
Arcteryx spotter pants are high quality, just like all of Arcteryx products. These are my 3rd pair purchased, (one was stolen at work) they are very comfortable, very durable. They are a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. Love emPros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: Cost
Max mobility and comfort
November 23, 2010
These pants RULE! I have never been disappointed by any of the Arcteryx pants I've purchased. The cut is perfect and the fit is right on. The material is a heavy cotton canvas that should hold up for many years. I'm really bummed that they only had my size in one color. I was all set to buy two more pair!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: none
The All You Need Pants
October 13, 2012
Love the fit - listed as relaxed, but they are less baggy than a normal relaxed pair of pants, and I have skinnier legs than average. More of a straight fit, still with freedom of movement not skin tight. I have a pair of the spotter shorts, which actually seem more relaxed than these pants, and could have gone for a 33 waist in those if they existed. The most common size I where in pants is 34x32. Thats what I ordered and they feel great! Im more true to a 30 inseam, but would recommend the 32 inseam, because they fit slightly shorter than many khaki style pants. Durable: check; Classy Looking: check. Canvas material is not too heavy as it could be with these pants, but is still what you expect for durable outdoor pants, or indoor/casual, wear-to-work pants. Youll be satisfied with this Arcteryx item!.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
April 07, 2010
Although it is thicker and heavier than I thought it would be, it is well made and comfortable, The Deep Dusk color looks stylish for me, Moreover, It 's so durable.
Arcteryx Spotter Pants for Men
November 16, 2010
The Arcteryx Spotter Pants for Men is a low rise pant so this and the crotch stitching makes sitting and/or climbing comfortable.Pros: Build quality, Performance
Arc'teryx Spotter Pants
July 12, 2013
Very comfortable fitting pants. Waist size is actual. Much more comfortable and cooler to wear than jeans in the summer. I ordered another pair after receiving the first. Could do without the logo on the leg, but otherwise a great pair of pants.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
Hope these pants are never discontinued. They're awesome!
June 11, 2010
My husband doesn't let me buy his clothes...I bought these for him as work pants around the yard, but he wears them to work as well. They are light weight & very comfortable (he says) and...they look fantastic on him! He will let me do the shopping for him now!
Review for Spotter Pants
January 31, 2010
My new favorite pair of pants. Very comfortable and great fitting. Kick around town with hiking boots and t-shirt or some slip ons with a polo shirt and your good to go anywhere! Great product!
Great pair of pants
October 30, 2010
I wear the Spotter pants often instead of jeans because they are more comfortable, more versatile, and, when worn with a sport coat or cashmere sweater, give a nice casual but sporty look that I like and that my wife and friends like. They take abuse really well and shed stains in the laundry like no other pair of pants I own.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, good-looking
My favorite pants
August 13, 2012
I bought these a few months back because they were on sale and I just HAD to own a pair of Arcteryx pants. I chose well. They are true to size and incredibly comfortable. I use them as everyday pants and probably would never hike in them- not really the best pants for wicking or drying. However, for going to work and general tomfoolery, I grab them first. I even picked up a second pair just so I can get through more of my week. The pockets are big enough without being bulky. Relaxed thighs without being baggy and shapeless pants. I wish Arcteryx made these exact pants in different materials, I would buy them too.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, comfortable, Cons: Cost
Better than expected
April 20, 2011
I have been satisfied with this "chicken bone" brand. These pants are top quality, stitches are very neat, very comfortable, tough, very tough, just like all of Arcteryx products I have had before.Cons: Cost
The most comfortable pair of pants!
February 19, 2013
I am 5'8" 135 lbs. The 30" waist is perfect. Lot's of room in the thigh--which is what keeps me from buying women's pants. Some may say they are over-designed, but they work for me. I don't mind paying more for quality. I really feel like I can move around in these pants. I'm going to buy another pair.Pros: Great design, comfortable, Cons: Cost
Excellent pants, well made
March 19, 2010
Super pants, extremely well made with an athletic fit. Feel like you can pretty much do anything in these pants; I have hiked and biked so far, plus just worn around. Very versatile. Go-anywhere. Looking forward to having these for many years.
great pants but a little snug at the waist
January 09, 2010
great pants. looks like they can withstand any element. I will return mine for a larger size. they where a little tight for me. 5'9" 210lbs usually do a 36 but have to get up to a 38 waist. Anything from Arcteryx is usually spot on and will have them for years.......
Strong pant, long lasting
April 20, 2010
These pants fit true to size and are made to last. You should seriously consider these if you want a high quality pant that can be used for casual and work.
Nice casual shorts
June 05, 2011
I love this pants. The fit is not too loose or too snugged and I can move around with ease. I like the design around the knee area where it is bent just a little so you can move around comfortably. The material is very nice and it is very well built. The material around the waist makes it really nice when you start to sweat. The sizing is right on for 34 waist and 30 inseam.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Great value
Great pants worth buying
January 16, 2012
This is an excellent pants This pants looks great, It is great fitting, and comfortable Received the pants in a timely fashion and it is a perfect fit. I love the color and fit. Give this jacket a thumbs up!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value
My first negative Arc'Teryx review
March 21, 2013
I love Arc'Teryx products -- almost a walking billboard, but I found this most recent version of the Spotter pant to be below what I would expect from Arc'Teryx. I found last years version of the Spotter to be first rate - with the felt inner lining along the belt, athletic fit and quality fabric but all of that was missing from this year's release. The size is not the same (36), no felt inner lining and the material is thinner in a noticeable way. What happened? The quality clearly dropped. I have no problem paying a bit more for a brand name I trust. Sadly that was not true this time around. I hope someone at Arc'Teryx reads this review and makes sure it doesn't happen to its other fine products.Cons: Bad design, Poor quality, not what one should expect from arc'teryx
June 04, 2010
Great pants, I found the sizing true and the material and craftsmanship impeccable. I plan on getting another pair or two..
December 27, 2009
I have the 36 size with the 32 inseam. I find that they are a little high in the leg cuffs. I enjoy the fit in every other aspect. I enjoy the articulated seems in the knee area, It makes all the difference. As far as ruggedness, I give them a five, I tend to wear pants out particularly fast. These are proving to stand the test of "me".
pretty good, but some sizing issues....
June 29, 2010
First off let me say I really liked these pants even though the first pair didn't fit. I usually wear a 32-33 waist in mountain khakis and I obviously needed a 34 in these as they were pretty snug. Length seemed to be true to size. Also they are ride really low on the waist, not an issue if you have a diet of coffee and cigarettes (as I do), or exercise and eat right (as I try to do).
Buckhorn, Cargo Green, Chalk Stone and Graphite.
Available sizes, while supplies last, include size 30, size 32, size 33, size 34, size 36 and size 38: 30, 32, 33, 34, 36, 38.
