Typical Arcteryx Quality
November 10, 2010
I actually bought this many months ago but didnt write a dumb review saying nothing to get a discount. Glad I am getting a second chance. Looks great, performs great, but seems a bit large. I took this baby on a week AT hike in October and ended up sleeping in it every night. The sleeve pocket was great for keeping chapstick and earplugs. It was its first use since being purchased several months ago. Provides great warmth on the cold nights and during breakfast. It never picked up any bad odor during the week although I did wipe down at nights. One day I had to wear it under my Arcteryx Beta rain shell (which is awesome) for extra warmth. I like the fact that I could unzip all the way down the front when I needed to cool down going up Blood Mountain. I wish I had bought 1 size smaller. I like baggy but ended up being too baggy which is unusual since most Arcteryx clothing is cut tight. I would recomend to any and all. Altrec shipped promptly also.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useIf you like Acrteryx - this is a must have!

This is by far and away - the very best fleece style jacket I have ever owned. It is made to Arcteryx standards but does run larger than other items they make. I ordered down one full size based on other reviews and am glad I did - it fits perfectly. Get this jacket when Altrec is running on of their great sales - it is expensive but a great jacket!!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: CostAwesome mid-layer!!
November 21, 2011
Great quality mid-layer. Wind resistant and comfortable. Price is reasonable for quality build. I will put it to the test when I hit the slopes. I'm sure it will hold to its great reviews.

Great midlayer
December 16, 2010
I just got the Arc'teryx Strato, and it's a great fleece. It has a cool hexagon texture that creates a unique look. The fit is a little lose and not as athletic as I thought it would be. Won't stop major wind or rain so a shell is recommended. The cuffs are great. They are made of a stretchy material that is really low-profile so it won't create any bulk on your wrist when it's under your shell. The wrists also does not chafe, which was a concern of mine. The fabric so far seems to have maintained it's comb appearance without any piling so far. I think this is because of it's a really tight weave. Looks great and can be worn around town without liking like an outdork. The only downside I would say is the cost. If the price was a little lower it would be the perfect jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performancewarm, stylish, no cinch cord along the hem
December 05, 2010
Great fleece, sporty yet classy. Warm, smooth fleece, excellent athletic fit. Cons: would prefer adjustable cuffs; lack of cinch cord along the hem prevents specific fit.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, athletic fitGreat for base layer and light jacket
November 17, 2010
Just received the Strato and I am very impressed. The build quality is superb, and the feel of the cobble is luxurious. As a base layer I would say it will feel and work great. Of course, it's not windproof, so it won't work as an outer layer on windy days, but for a calm and cool fall or spring day, it should work fine (and, look great). I am 5'9" with a medium build and it is form-fitting around my chest, while the sleeves are slightly too long, but not noticeably so. As a base layer, therefore, the medium is a pretty good fit for me.

Perfect

Got this to wear under the hard shell jacket and it works perfectly.keep me warm in 10-20(F) weather. But the material is a little strange. I love Arcteryx stuff super Quyality.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityComfortable Fit & Styling
January 24, 2010
I prefer Arc'teryx since their sizing and cut works best for me. This jacket is not quite as tailored as other designs, so fits slightly looser. It will work well for layering under a shell, but might be a little light on its own for temperatures below 40 - depending on your activity. It is functional and good quality, but perhaps a bit pricey for a simple fleece jacket.
Great temperature range
January 18, 2012
This is a favorite piece. It is comfortable across a really wide range of temperatures. You can wear it indoors when it is cool when you'd otherwise reach for a sweatshirt and it is warm outdoors down to 40s or high 30s. Just a really great, comfortable piece. Also, collar is soft and not too high -- doesn't rub your neck like some of these pieces do. Typical arcteryx trim fit.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, wide temp rangeNice Fleece
October 30, 2010
This fleece breaths well, is quite warm, and very comfortable. It's not going to block strong wind, but it's not supposed to. It's cut relaxed so it's not as tight as other arc'teryx gear. Overall I'm very happy with it and the textured fleece looks unique and cool.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: CostVersatile Jacket

Definitely met my expectation for quality, functionality, and style. ItÂ’s a great all around jacket for the mountain, ocean or in the city.

November 13, 2010
I've had quite a few fleece jackets in my long career, but none as nicely made as my new ArcTeryx Strato. The Polartec Thermal Pro cobble is functional, practical and attractive, and I really like the zip chest pocket. I'm looking forward to the dual functionality of the jacket, both as an insulating mid layer under my gore tex shell in the backcountry, and as an eminently practical and attractive jacket for urban use. This is my first ArcTeryx purchase, and i have a feeling that it's the beginning of a good habit.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueOctober 26, 2010
Great jacket. Nice and comfortable warmth inside and outside, plus very stylish.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueStylish fleece - great for skiing
January 02, 2010
Fleece is very nice, though be careful on sizing, it actually runs a bit large and I had to buy a size down to have a good snug fit under my ski shell. Should be great for the slopes though. Also, the carbide is really more greenish than brown, but it's still very nice and a bit different than the typical black fleece.
Fantastic Purchase
December 19, 2010
I needed a warm jacket for the cold winter here in New England. I find the jacket nice and warm and easy to wear under a shell for those brutal winter days when the cold air just wants to sap the warmth from you the second you walk outside. The jacket is comfortable and is just a great fit. I've been wearing since I purchased it and it has kept me warm in the sub freezing weather.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueThe Best

Arc'teryx is simply the best, at least for the men in my family. Stylish and high quality as always.
February 24, 2011
Very warm fleece jacket, It could protect me in cold weather. It's very suitable as a middle layer due to its Polartec Thermal Pro materials. It has a high quality ,like other Arc'teryx ones. But it fits a little large. Anyway, I am satisfied with it and it looks so stylish.

Loose fit great medium jacket for cool to cold weather. Can be worn seperately or as a thermal mid layer under a technical shell.
Great Warm Jacket
March 16, 2013
This is a very nice item. It is cut a bit slim. It's warm but does not keep out a strong wind. It looks fantastic.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueBest fleece jacket I've owned
December 22, 2010
I finally wore out my Mountain Hardwear Windstopper Tech Jacket and I'd been looking for a good quality fleece jacket that wasn't too bulky and rated high in quality to replace it. Arcteryx is known for making some of the best quality outerwear, but also having a high sticker price. Well, the pricepoint and the quality of the Strato fleece were right on. It's a great jacket! Not too bulky, warm, durable, high collar for warmth around the neck, and the design is what you'd expect from Arcteryx...Great quality! Great value!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valuepretty good

based on the write up and specs i was expected a very dense fleece, but when the package arrived, i could tell be the weight that this was more of a mid weight. The cuffs and collar are very nice and tight, keeping out the drafts. It also runs a size large (i'm a 38-40 jacket and the medium is still roomy), especially if you want to wear it under a shell.

great fleece
January 30, 2011
A well made fleece that looks great. Kept me warm the other day in 28 degree weather over a cotton long sleeve shirt. Wind protection is minimal like many other fleece jackets. A medium fits me perfectly (5'10", 175 lbs.) and this jacket easily fits under an outer shell. The sleeve cuffs are tight (good for keeping the outside air out) and a little difficult to deal with when taking off the jacket. One negative was the amount of fuzz that came off the jacket the first time I wore it, unfortunately I had a white shirt on, but this has not been an issue since.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceOutstanding fit and style
January 03, 2010
I am 6'1", 200pounds, athletic build/wide shoulders, and bought the XL in Carbide. The fit is phenomenal! This jacket is so well made, I am considering buying another one in a different color. BTW, the ladies seem to like looking at it too.
Mens Strato Medium
January 12, 2013
This jacket looks good and feels great. It came quickly. My size is between medium and large on the size chart. I chose the medium size and it fits perfectly.
Great mid-layer or fall jacket
December 01, 2011
I like this jacket because it is slimmer fit than the Arcteryx Covert Cardigan. It is also longer in length. I have worn it many times and it does not pill like some other jackets. Very warm. I typically wear it alone in the fall or under a waterproof shell when skiing. I recommend trying this product especially if you dont like the fit of the covert cardigan, but like the thermal style of a mid-layer.
