Great all around jacket. My first Arc' teryx, but not my last. You can use for layering or just by itself. I can see why others have commented on the quality.

incredible softshell. Built with Windstopper and interior lining is very warm. This is warmer than any other softshell I've had.I like it.
December 25, 2010
This is a great light jacket, warmer than much thicker jackets i have owned. Wind/water resistance is amazing. Expensive but totally worth it. 6'1" 165 and the large fits great.

Great Jacket! Very light weight comfortable jacket. Breathable but still excellent at blocking the wind. The one down side to this jacket is the sleeves were about 3 inches too long.

This jacket is very comfortable, sleek, and quite warm. The one negative I would say is the price, but Arcteryx makes an excellent product. Highly recomend!!

Arcteryx Venta AR

I wore this jacket to Mt. Rainier and it was perfect... It wicked moisture very well and kept my core warm above 10,000 ft. It exceeded my expectations.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performanceexcellent

I am quite happy with the trim fit overall. I get a bit of a tug on my lower neck area because I am pretty wide chested. The M doesn't leave a lot of room for layering that you might find in another brand of the same size. I like it for running because it clings to me though. No wind makes it through the jacket...tested it in Colorado during a blizzard. I layered a long sleeve shirt, arcteryx fleece, and put the Venta over top...comfy as can be!
Perfect for Cold Weather & Extreme Wind Protection
December 13, 2010
Truly this is a very versatility jacket for all weather conditions. First this is a perfect jacket by itself during the spring and fall weather conditions because of its extreme wind protection and breathability. Also, it is important to note that this jacket has just a light fleece interior that does not provide much warmth, however, it wicks sweat very well which adds to its breathability. Therefore this jacket works extremely well in very cold weather because you can put a high loft insulation under the jacket and its wind protection and very good water protection provides the best cold weather protection when your hiking up and down hills/mountains. As for FIT: it fits tight, therefore you will need to order a size up than normal so that you can actually layer underneath it. Also, I would like to say that I love the cuff design because it doesn't have those cuff straps that you have to constantly adjust, and because of it's smooth spandex like fit makes it very easy to layer over and underneath other items!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of useNovember 05, 2010
Without doubt, this jacket has many advantages for me, Windproof, breathable and comfy, it can keep my body warm in a little cold weather. But most of all, I like its appearance very much, it looks so cool and appealing. it is more attractive than it looks on image.
Great Jacket

This jacket is great. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is a bit on the tall side. The sizing is great, a bit small but with a good taper between the shoulders and waist.

Light weight jacket
February 07, 2010
I was looking for a jacket for days I don't need to bring out my TNF Gore-Tex, Venta AR is the solution. It is light weight yet warm, the shell blocks the wind very well. It is very comfortable too. Now, I have a winner for the days that doesn't require extreme jackets.
Great Jacket

Jacket is thin and light weight, but keeps the wind and cold out. Great as a light weight solution in the spring or fall for cold mornings and evenings over a t-shirt or light shirt. Fit is snug and sleeves are plenty long. Could use and inside pocket.

excellent arcteryx jacket have many of them blocks the wind out with out overheating warm
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceExcellent quality
March 27, 2011
The Venta AR jacket is very well made and certainly does the job when it comes to blocking the wind. The jacket also provides protection from a light rain. It is not something that will keep you warm by itself in below 40 degree weather. The fit is very snug on me (5'11", 175 lbs in a medium size) but looks very nice. The reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the tight, unyielding cuff ends on the sleeve which make taking off the jacket a huge pain. Taking off a jacket shouldn't be this irritating.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, PerformanceFor $300 Bucks I Expected More
October 26, 2009
Jacket is OK, however not worth the money. Also, the sleeves lack adjustable straps at the openings - which is annoying. I recently bought a North Face Jacket for a lot less and that is definitely superior.
Great jacket
December 27, 2009
Excellent all weather jacket. Warm, light, packable, and very rugged. Hiked Zion and I used it as an outer layer. It snowed and I was toasty and dry. It can be paired with an outer shell for the ultimate in water and wind protection. Looks great for casual wear also.
My new favorite functional/casual jacket!!!
October 14, 2012
It's not secret that Arc'teryx produces some of the highest quality jackets, but I actually purchased this one due to the fact that it also doubles as a nice jacket for casual wear, which is to say with jeans, etc. I've got a number of other Arc'teryx jackets, however, I typically choose them based on a particular climate (rain, winter and/or wind). This is the first I've purchased specifically to have it double, so to speak, as a regular wear jacket as well as a lighter wind shell. You just can't go wrong with Arc'teryx, but in all fairness I typically try to find a less expensive alternative. In fact, I think I've used a coupon/discount code for each of my Arc'teryx jackets.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, casual look, Cons: CostGreat Jacket

I live in Atlanta, and love this jacket for the kind of temps we normally have here in late Fall/Winter/early Spring. Works great over a shirt alone on days in the 40s/50s, and when it's colder, I've comfortably layered an Atom LT vest underneath, which combined makes for a very warm package. As for fit, I am 6'3" and 195 lbs, and the large is perfect, trim fitting but not at all uncomfortable. Sleeve length is plenty long. All in all, one of my favorite recent purchases, highly recommended.
Pros: Great design, Build qualityAwesome jacket

Fantastic!!!!! this jacket is so many things all in one..... Waterproof, windproof and an all around great jacket for cold, rainy windy weather. This jacket can withstand all the elements.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: CostI loved my Gamma SV so much!

The Venta jacket is usable in a more diverse set of conditions. Built with Windstopper and interior lining is very warm. This is warmer than any other soft shell I've had.
Great jacket
December 25, 2009
Was looking for a jacket to replace an old Patagonia Boilerplate. Had some difficulties in finding a softshell replacement that was easy to take off without tugging on my shirt sleeves, but the Venta AR had plenty of room. Venta AR was just what I needed, a nice softshell with some insulation.
October 03, 2011
This jacket is great. I very often wear this jacket whether I'm going to the office or for outdoor activity. This jacket stops all wind, sheds water very well for a 'water resistant' jacket. Built with Windstopper and interior lining it is very warm. I am extremely impressed and satisfied. Expensive, but worth ever dime.
Buy it a size up
April 11, 2010
Bought this in a medium, and it fit like a glove -- a tight glove. Otherwise, the material is fantastic and the piece is overall of very high quality (as expected from this brand).
Great gift for my husband!
December 20, 2011
He will love this jacket - great winter coat for someone that only wants a thin but warm layer to wear - good from work to go out in! Wind resistant and water shed right off of it!

I use this jacket for casual use and for hiking. It is comfortable and warm with good breathability. I was concerned initially because of the cuff design, but have found it to be great. Would recommend it to a friend.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueTypical Arc'teryx Superior Quality
January 08, 2011
Nothing less than what has become the norm for Arc'teryx- simply superb quality. This is my second soft shell, and I am glad I chose Arc'teryx over several other quality brands that were noticeably less expensive. Like my older soft shell, I will have this the rest of my life. It does all it is advertised to do. I found the fit to be accurate as advertised. I debated hard between medium and large. I have a 42 chest, but somewhat big back and chest muscles, with a 33 arm length. The fit allows for layering- comfortable across the chest and back, loose at the waist and to the knuckle on my thumbs. Had I gone with the medium, I would probably be comfortable with waist and sleeve length, but I know uncomfortable tight across the back and chest.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of useNice, lightweight, and very protective jacket
March 23, 2010
Great jacket for those who want a non-bulky jacket that functions at the same level as many bulky jackets. Good for 30-50 degree days. Could serve for colder days if you had a sweater under it.
January 11, 2011
As for me ,it 's a perfect jacket, breathable, windproof and stylish. Same with other Arc'teryx items, it has a high quality. It's very suitable for urban use. I feel so comfortable with it.

Great Jacket!
January 13, 2011
Once again Arc'teryx has created a winner! After hemming and hawing and going back and forth between what windstopper to buy this season, I went for the Venta AR. The fit is great. I'm 6'4" 180, so pretty skinny. I have long arms and always run into sleeve length issues when I try to purchase a jacket that fits my torso. I tried both the medium and the large. The medium fit great, ideal if it only wanted a light layer underneath. Since I intended to layer my hercules/hyllus under it, I went with the large so I'd have more freedom of movement. Anyway, it's completely windproof and it's stood up to the rain I've been in with it. I checked out the big-sky blue color and the deep blue. The deep blue is awesome, it looks way better in person that in the pictures. I totally recommend the Venta AR - Don't go with the Venta SV unless you are planning hardcore pursuits with it. I checked that jacket too, It's built like a hardshell (style-wise) which wasn't what I was looking for. 5 Stars!!

Collar stays up nicely. Zipper smooth as silk. No adjustment on the wrist cuffs, but there's some kind of flat stiffener there to keep them from rolling back. Also, contrary to the description, this jacket did not have a third internal chest pocket, and "laminated zip" doesn't mean "waterproof coating", it means laminated to the fabric, not sewn in. I love it, though. Huge pockets.
