You've been breaking a thigh deep powder trail up the valley approach for miles trying to make the Asulkan Hut. Breaking through the 'Wedge' the intensity of the storm picks up – time to put on your Arc'teryx Rho LTW Long Toque. A longer version hat, you pull its wool/spandex knit low over your ears to block the bite. Soon its double layered headband warms some life back into your noggin. It's time to turn and run; today's not the day to press the edges of safety. Floating down through the trees you veer left to maximize the steepness. Creating a moving powder wave with a succession of turns, you question your sanity in the twitchy conditions, but not your choice of hat. Submerged, you come to the surface in the cool smoke just enough to sight a line through the forest. Kind of stupid in the classic avalanche conditions, but at least your Rho LTW Long Toque did its job. With embroidered Bird logo on the side; time to fly.

Great Arc'Teryx Quality
February 02, 2013

Another winner from Arc'teryx. I love the fact that the toque fits securely, but does not try to squeeze your head to the point you feel you are an extra in the movie Scanners. If you are in a high output activity and are sweating, it does hold the moisture, but dries quickly. As to the ease of use, well, if you can't figure it out, my sympathies....

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Fantastic, and good for small heads
September 05, 2011

Yes this is a lightweight, thin beanie, that is in its name. This has been my exclusive beanie for backcountry skiing for 4 seasons. I use it alone or with an old Backcountry Windstopper softshell beanie as a 3 in 1. With it always stuffed in my touring pack, sometimes worn under a shell beanie, and generally abused.

Great for Big heads
January 17, 2013

Perfect hat for winter running or xc skiing. It's not too hot, not too cold. My head is 7 5/8, and most hats are too small. They do not cover all of my ears. This Arc'teryx hat does and it's not too tight. It's great for big heads.

honey of a hat
December 04, 2012

The hat is a perfect fit. Lightweight and warm. Perfect for a run on a 35-degree day. Definitely a three season accessory for any New Englander. My house is very cold in the winter; I wear it all day long inside and enjoy a warm head while I read the Sunday paper on a cold winter's day.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
