Just what I was looking for
August 13, 2012
I was looking for a synthetic jacket for a while and couldn't decide on which way to go. I was looking at the Patagonia Nano Puff but then the Arc'teryx Atom started showing up in my search. I am so pleased with this jacket! I just used it this past weekend on my backpacking trip to South Sister and it was perfect! It fits great and is so comfortable, it was just what I was looking for!! I'm 5'6" and I got the medium. The stretch knit cuffs are a great touch and I could see myself using this for outdoor recreation or casual wear.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of usePerfect insulating layer

This jacket is unbelievably light weight for the warmth that it provides. It is perfect as an insulating jacket over layers for cooler fall days and is thin enough to fit under a shell for extra warmth in winter. The stretch side panels help to hug the jacket to your body. The shoulder design allows full range of motion. Love the fabric of the cuffs. It hugs my wrists to keep out the cold. No complaints about this jacket! Sizing is the same as other Arcteryx products. I am 5'9" and wear a size 12. I take a large in this and the length is great. Highly recommend!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, great fitYou will not be disappointed

I have worn this jacket backpacking, and to work. It still looks brand new. If you want to wear it over a layer, size up. Otherwise it is a true fit. The details to this jacket just do not stop. I am ordering the same jacket wih the hood.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueI like it!

I've bought the Arteryx women's LT Jacket to layer under a gore tex shell. It's been great for spring skiing, just warm enough on a warm day and a great layering piece on a slightly cooler day. In the dead of winter, I'll layer it with a down sweater and I should be good to go. Not bulky like a heavy fleece and I like the mesh panel down the side for breathability.
Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: CostGreat jacket for layering and around town

This jacket rocks! Under a hard shell it works great for skiing and on its own it is great around town in all but the worst of rain. The jacket fits snug, which makes it great for layering.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, PerformanceA great year round layer.

I purchased this jacket for my sister a few months back. As a gift for a trip that we were training for. It was an easy purchase, because I got it for a great price here at Altrec too. There were many reasons why I purchase this jacket for her. First of all, is Arc'Teryx. Their stuff is in many aspects the best it gets. Not only because its functionality is superb, but because it also looks good when you are wearying it. I know hiking, backpacking and that type of activities, aren't a beauty competition; but it sure doesn't help to look good while your doing it. And unlike all other "puffy" jackets out there, the Atom looks like a nice, regular stylized jacket. Not that round, bubble-wrap shape all other puffies tend to have. The other reason I got it for my sister, was that she can use it as a outer layer for cold days, where we will be on the move constantly, and she needed something warm enough to keep her comfortable, but not too warm that she would over heat. The side hard-fleece panels on the jacket help a lot with the ventilation in those kinds of situations. Not as breatheable as perhaps, regular fleece, but still great to have. and when she needs to put it underneath another layer (say a hardshell or a even a fleece jacket) it layers underneath smoothly. The one drawback I would give it, is that I wish the wrist cuff came out a little longer, down to the palms of your hands. With thumb holes perhaps. The cuffs do a great job of keeping all that warm air in; but it would be nice to have your hands a little more protected from the weather, when you can't simply put them in the front pocket. Those pockets do have nice warm fleece, that does a great job of helping your hands, but you might not always be able to use them while on the move. Even better about this jacket, is that it packs down to a pretty small size (when stuffed in to it's own sleeve) which makes it easy to carry on Spring-summer packs, where you might not have as much space to spare as in a winter pack. Well, I could go on for a while longer talking about how awesome this jacket is. But I don't want to bore you. Just one more thing. This jacket is so awesome, that I got my self one (men's version), and so did my friend (he got the hoodie) and so did my wife (she also got the jacket). Just get it. You won't regret it.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, lightweight but warmWrite a review for the Arc'teryx Atom LT Jacket here.
Not great

I own the Atom LT hoody and love it, so decided to try the jacket too. The fit (on me, at least) was very different than the hoody. It was tight across the backs of my shoulders, so much so that I couldn't lift my arms easily. It was uncomfortable because I couldn't move freely. I sent it back. I would recommend this jacket if it fits you correctly because it's a great product, but beware that if you own the hoody the fit may be quite different.
Pros: Build quality, Cons: Bad designBest investment ...ever.

I have to admit I have a soft spot for dead bird gear. I also realize that you are usually over paying for the name brand. This is not the case with the Atom LT. If I had to recommend a single piece of Arc'terxy gear I would recommend this jacket. It can't be beat in weight, fit, warmth or versatility with anything on the market. It has a great water resistant finish which will keep you dry in a light rain. The synthetic filling will warm you even when wet. The fact that the core and the sleeves have different weight CoreLoft (which is top of the line synthetic insulation) is a great plus. You are not wearing or packing any extra weight. The side breathing panels keep you from overheating in high impact activity, while giving the garment a more feminine appearance. The stretch cuffs are amazing, they are 0 bulky when layering, they keep out all the air, and they do not slip or move during activity. The Atom is designed as a mid layer, but for milder days 30°-35° it works perfectly as a top layer if you have a mid weight under it. Because of its material also goes on great under (and over) other layers... hardshells, softshells, fleeces or sweaters. It just slides on and you don't have to worry about uncomfortable bunching, loosing your sleeve, feeling constricted or twisted. It is true to size I'm 5-4' and the small fits perfectly. I have the lavender color and i love it. This jacket goes perfectly with jeans, khakis or climbing gear. A versatile, all around great Jacket. I honestly can't say enough good things about it.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, cut, size, material, warmth level, rugged use durabilityLight and warm

I wear this jacket around town and pack it for any trips since it's packs down small. The xs was perfect for me (5'2", 105lbs, 32B) and left room for a base layer or light sweater. Not windproof so not for all weather conditions but it's pretty water resistant and it's a great insulating layer under my raincoat for wet/colder conditions.
