Technical, Amazing Quality and High Performance
January 27, 2010
I have been skiing my whole life and this brand has not let me down yet! I tend to be a freezing cold skier too and this jacket can be used alone or with layers. Guaranteed this jacket will not let you down! Enjoy.
Great looking Jacket
September 22, 2005
I got this Jacket for My Girlfriend and its pretty great, seems to shed water awesome but not a jacket to keep you warm, just a shell jacket that you need to layer underneath of.

Great jacket
January 12, 2012
I am usually a medium but got this in a large for lots of layering underneath. Fits perfect!! Very nice shell - Great product. Will buy this brand again!!
Pros: fit, durability, comfortNice Jacket
December 18, 2009
I had to return this jacket because I was looking for something with more insulation. However, if I had been in the market for a heavy-duty rain jacket, this would be my new best friend. I considered keeping it because it is so great. Rain jacket-YES! Winter jacket-NO!
Great Style, Great Color, Great Jacket!
January 17, 2010
This is a an amazing hard shell. It is fitted through the body without being restrictive. The color is great and easy to layer for varying weather. Love it!
Great for Oregon skiing!
December 23, 2009
Lightweight, keeps me dry on the mountain and beautiful color!
fantastic jacket
May 01, 2005
the jacket is terrific. you can not get wet wearing it. it is very confortable, and all the zipers are seald
Too short
December 12, 2009
I am sure this jacket is wonderful for keeping you dry and has a great hood coverage, but I have a long torso and it was just too short.
Great for hiking Kilimandjaro (Africa)
January 03, 2010
Woman's Beta AR Jacket is very light, kept me dry on the mountain under the toughest rain of Africa .Looks good and great colors.
love this jacket
January 19, 2010
its so lightweight and really great at keeping the wind out! I went skiing with it this weekend over a softshell and was so warm the whole time. Highly recommend
Great Jacket but too sturdy for my purposes.
February 17, 2010
Good extreme weather shell for heavy rain etc.. But not what I was looking for in a cold weather jacket.
Superior quality, as always!
March 19, 2012
Arteryx is an amazing brand overall, and this jacket is nothing short. I purchased mostly for the rainy weather where I live, but also find that this jacket will function well as a windbreaker or just a light layer. The quality and craftsmanship is amazing as always, and the fit is perfect for my size (I bought a small and I am 5'3", 105). I can wear it alone with a little extra room or layer for the cooler weather. So excited for my purchase and will continue to buy Arcteryx!!!! Also, thanks Altrec for having it on my doorstep in just a few days!
let me be dry
June 08, 2010
through all the rain and wetness i feel while not yet in possession of that awesome jacket but having it tried on elsewhere, cooing and mooing over it to reach my doorstep - it must be the best gift to myself this year.

So light and with all the technical constructions
February 02, 2010
Brought this jacket for my wife. The jacket is cut true to the size, a M fit well with 5'6" with room for additional layer. Plan to wear it to the tour Mont Blanc hike we are planning for the coming summer. It is a prefect gift for her.
Worth the $$$
December 11, 2010
I have the Theta AR already from Arc'teryx so I already know how great their products are. I wanted a lighter shorter and more fitted version for use in warmer weather and the Beta AR seemed perfect. However, the sleeves in previous year's version seemed just a tad too short and I like my sleeves to hit about mid-hand so they don't rise up too much when I move my arms. For 2010, they've redesigned the jacket and the sleeves are longer! I ordered the size small (I'm 5'5", 115 lbs) and it fits exactly how I want - I can layer a light fleece with it or wear just a T-shirt and it feels fine both ways. The other thing they've done for 2010 is manufacture the jacket in Canada which I love (last year was Made in China).

Stay DRY!
February 06, 2012
The Arcteryx Beta AR Jacket is a serious shell type garment that is excellent on a storm day on the mountain. There is no way that water can get in...Layering is the way to go as you still need to insulate on those cold days. This jacket will not let you down. The only tiny negative is that it runs short in length and I would love to see it with a bit more room for coverage. Arcteryx is technical and they do know what they are doing when it comes to functionality.

Love this jacket. Not only looks good but also offers all the protection you need from a variety of weather. I got a medium and has plenty of room for a heavy fleece jacket.

Awesome shell, great fit!
June 02, 2010
Got this shell and I love it! I am 5'2 and 110 lbs and the xs fits perfect. I can still put a hoody underneath to keep me warm too. I wanted a shell that wasn't too boxy and wasn't overwhelming on my small frame. Only down fall is there are no pockets for your hands, only 2 chest pockets. Other than that, no complaints, keeps me dry and comfortable in the rain.
Love It!

GORETEX!!! I already own the beta sl but needed something more for the mountains in the winter. I chose this jacket since it performs and packs light at the same time. I also love the full size hood protection. I ordered size medium since I prefer to layer with fleece or another jacket underneath. I am 5'4- 115lb and this size is perfect! I chose the black since my other jacket by arcteryx is purpola. I also like the length of this jacket since New Mexico winters at 9000' can very. I always have waterproof pants packed. The pockets are where you need them to be. You can not go wrong with this jacket. It's the BOMB!!
Excellent quality jacket!!!

I had a hard time deciding between the Alpha SL and the Beta AR. I ended up trying both, and I think this one is a better overall jacket, although a little shorter. The Alpha SL was still quality, but the hood/collar design didn't work for me. The Alpha collar stands up very high and stiff, and without the chinguard it was really uncomfortable for me. This one has a chinguard and the collar/hood design works better to give better coverage and is much more comfortable. Ultimately, the fit and design for the Beta won me over. LOVE IT!!! Oh, I'm 5'7" and 125 lbs and the x-small fit was perfect for me, but I'm not using it with heavy/thick layers. I'd have gone with a small if I wanted to wear a thick fleece under it.

psyched on the jacket
February 01, 2010
I love everything about the jacket. The only downfall is my chin got pretty chapped and even a little cut up from rubbing on the jacket. It was a super big snow week so I had the jacket fully zipped and covering my chin, every day for hours. Now I just wear a neck gaiter. All good and I know I will have this jacket for many years.
Jacket that Passes the Test of Time
December 02, 2012
I have had this jacket for ~5 years and I love it. I use it for skiing, hiking, mountaineering and climbing. I am writing this review as a testimony to the jacket's durability. It also has a great fit for a taller woman (5'7'', size small). I would highly recommend!

The Arc'teryx Beta AR is the best shell I have even owned. It is light weight, but will keep you dry. It serves a dual purpose for me: ski parka in the winter, and backcountry raincoat in the warmer months. I got a great discount too...better than any of my pro-deals.

I used it in Big Bear during latest snow storm and it kept me super dry and seemed very breathable. The Medium was true to size, I was able to layer undergarment and a fleece underneath. The length is perfect for me at 5'4". I would recommend it to anyone (... and the fuchsia is sooooo pretty :) I LOVE IT

Simply great!
June 27, 2005
Wow! This rain coat is just amazing! It's light enough to pack it in my small camelback during the summer hikes. Still it kept me dry under the toughest rain conditions. Not to mention that it looks good to - not that this matter on the mountain, but it's a nice to have bonus.
Love this jacket!
January 22, 2011
I ordered this jacket as a replacement for a Northface Summit Series Gortex shell that I'd had for 10 years and loved. Couldn't find a Northface women's Gortex Pro replacement shell, so I decided to branch out and found this jacket. It is incredibly light but very durable and a perfect shell for keeping out wind and rain. Because it is so lightweight, I wear layers underneath for warmth. I am 5'4'' and 105 pounds, and a size small allows me to wear a sweater and a down jacket underneath and still have freedom of movement. (I ordered the XS too just to compare and ended up returning it because I didn't feel I had enough room to layer adequately underneath.) On top of its performance features, this jacket looks great -- very sporty and stylish. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Extremely light weight, breathable, but protects nicely from the wind and rain. It also fits perfect and looks great! I plan to wear a down jacket underneath in cold weather. Very happy with this purchase!

Tough to beat

This jacket looks sharp and has a really solid exterior. It is quite thin, so layering is key, and it will keep out all the elements.

This shell is a snugger fit than other shells. As a lady, your shape will still show. I find it does fit with a down jacket under but it is a bit short in length. The color is beautiful and stylish. I wish it had a two way zipper and deeper pockets.

Great jacket for athletic, small person and super light too
May 27, 2010
I tried the Alpha and the Theta size small too, and this jacket seemed the best fit and lightest material and least boxy for the quality. Used it on late-season touring trip and skied deep powder including a few wipe-outs. Kept me dry and felt feather light. Very happy with it.
