FANTASTIC jacket!
August 22, 2011

Love, love, love this jacket! I love the quality and fit of arcteryx and have been stalking this hoody for a few months. I was wary of the high price tag but was able to get it on sale. It is absolutely worth the money. Beautifully made, very warm for chilly fall days. It is sturdily constructed to withstand rough terrain. The fit is fantastic: figure flattering but constructed to move with you on the trail. I bought the magenta color and it is gorgeous. As with everything in this brand, it runs small. I wear a 10 to 12 in street clothes and needed a large and there is not much room left for layers.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

Best jacket EVER!

This has got to be the best softshell ever made! The "muppet" interior adds perfect amount of comfort and warmth not normally seen in most softshells. It's a bit pricey, but totally worth it!

Does not fit a size large well. Fits and looks tight in every way, the hood as well. They don't have it in X large unfortunally.I've never had to jump up a size with any well known brand, but with the Hercules Hoody you really have too.Too bad!!

My Go To Jacket
October 28, 2009

I love this jacket and the jacket has traveled all over the world with me. Warm, keeps me dry, without bulk. It is narrower than most jackets, so size up. Love the pocket on the arm (rather than at the chest) for keys, lip balm, and other small items!

My husband did well on this Christmas gift!!
January 07, 2010

I just received this in the Coffee Bean color (which is gorgeous!), size Small. It's a beautiful softshell jacket -- very lightweight, but I love the high pile liner. A word of warning in that it is quite fitted though, so if in doubt, I'd recommend sizing up -- especially if you plan to layer underneath the jacket. It hits right at the top of your hips. All in all, I think this is going to be one of my winter staples!

THE BEST!
July 06, 2010

I hemmed and hawed before buying this jacket. Wow! A great Arcteryx piece that is worth every penny,(I did happen to wait long enough for it go on sale). It is light as a feather yet very warm. The XS is perfect! As a small person (5'3)it is nice when a company makes their XS to fit as such. I love this jacket and I am very impressed with Arcteryx in general. Highly recommended!

Purchased as a Gift for my wife

My wife has a gamma sv that the she loves but she needed something warmer. She also loves hoodies so this was a perfect combination. She likes the slimmer cut of this over the gamma series jackets as well!

Great lightweight jacket or layer

Love this jacket! Fit is trim. I'm 5'4" and 125 lbs and the small is perfect. nicely insulates and blocks wind. I'm using for xcountry skiing and out and about on bluebird days here in Park City.

Worth it
December 28, 2009

it is unbelievably breathable and warm from mild weather to down right nasty weather! Well fitted for an athletic build and easily adjustable. Worth every penny!

Great color and warmth
October 25, 2009

I'm usually an XS but found that size to be a little short. The small fits great.I got it in belize blue which is a beautiful color. It is warm and going to be great for city and backcountry alike!

The Best of Both Worlds in One Jacket
November 07, 2010

Achieving the balance between warmth and breathability is difficult. We usually have to give up one for the other. This jacket strikes the perfect balance. Powershield itself is a great fabric technology: it breaks the wind so that you don't get cut down by a chill, yet allows the jacket to breath very well. In my mind powershiled is the best membrane/technology. But with the Hyllus you get two additional benefits: It is welded to a fleece and thus is a high loft variant of powershield. Most soft shells usually are basic stretchy jackets that work well for breathability and are decent but not stellar for warmth. This jacket comprises both qualities. No more having to choose between your fleece jacket or your soft shell. You've got both in one jacket. Thus you've got no only more weather protection than a fleece jacket alone, but you've got Arcteryx style to boot. Moreover, this jacket is a great stand alone but can also function as a mid layer under the right shell, for a great combo when the rain or harsh cold comes around. Take this spring skiing and try to work up a sweat and then hit the downhill--never too hot and never cold. This Arcteryx jacket is worth money.

Awesome jacket
January 12, 2011

I love this jacket & practically live in it. I wasnt sure on sizing so ordered both the S & M, but ended up keeping the M. Im 5'4" & 115lbs with a wide back & broad shoulders. Although the S fitted there wasnt enough room for layering. (Too tight around the chest) The M looked great & is still fitted enough to use as a mid layer piece. The fleecy lining keeps you warm & snug but without overheating. Its very versitile. I wear it climbing (although its almost too nice for that!) biking & hiking in the cold, & am looking forward to wearing it as a mid layer when skiing.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

PERFECT!
January 27, 2009

Love everything about this softshell. Perfect for all aerobic snow activities- from inbounds bluebird days to backcountry trekking. Beautiful blue color, healthy pockets, sleeve pocket for quick grab items. Welded zips let nothing in. Great quality- super warm. Does run small - size up for layering or broad shouldered/ fuller bustlines. Sleeves long enough to cover mitts, longer back to cover kidneys when bending down to buckle in. Seals out moisture and breathes - love it!

Bestest Jacket
March 06, 2010

True to size. Not too long. Dynamite jacket. I've had several Arc'teryx jackets for various extremes, but this jacket is the best all around. Can be layered or worn with thin shirt. Just as described. Warm in frigid temps, without overheating. Great for biking or casual rain gear. I don't like the bulk of a hood, but this one is unnoticeable. A bit pricey, but I plan on wearing it to my grave.

Awesome!
November 24, 2010

I am a diehard fan of Arcteryx. The majority of my stuff is from this company because the quality is impeccable. This is one of those instances where paying more will definitely get you better quality. I own the Theta AR, Fission SV, Gamma AR, and other articles of clothing from Arcteryx and I simply cannot get enough! I bought this jacket in May 2010 when it was the Hercules, but I think they only changed the name and nothing else besides color availability (I have the gray which has been discontinued). You will feel the wind when wearing this coat because it is not windproof, but I usually wear a merino wool baselayer under it which takes the bite out of the cold. The hood is awesome...lined with fleece like the rest of the coat. I have been living in Anchorage, AK for the last 3 months and I have worn this coat with a 260g baselayer + t-shirt and have been warm in 4 deg F (but I was also speed walking to work instead of just standing around). Since it is not windproof or waterproof, it is very breathable for active pursuits. I walk everyday to work with a heavy bookbag and have not seen any rubbing or wear on this jacket....like I said, Arcteryx is awesome and in my opinion, the pinnacle of the "outdoor" world. One thing I would have added to this coat that it does not have is an inside pocket because I love those. Regardless of the missing inside pocket, this coat is amazing! I saw it on sale somewhere and was actually thinking of getting another one! Buy it now so you can start wearing it in 5-7 days! Sizing: Majority of Arycteryx stuff is made for a more athletic/lean build. If it is an athletic fit, I wear a size small. If it is a relaxed fit, I wear size xsmall. So in the Theta AR, I have an Xsmall; in the Gamma AR, Small; Fission SV, Small; and in the Hercules Hoody (Hyllus), Small. I am 5'3", 125lbs. I normally wear size XS-S in other companies. As long as you get the right size, you can't go wrong with Arcteryx!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, awesome!, looks good!

Love this jacket!
October 13, 2010

My family has a mild obsession with Arc'Teryx and this jacket does not disappoint! It is of wonderful quality - warm, soft pile fleece on the inside, and a beautiful stretchy softshell material on the exterior. I have the cranberry/fuschia color and love it. It has great weather resistance, but haven't yet tried it in a downpour. I am of average height and weight (about 5'5", 135, 34D) and typically wear a small to medium in jackets. I ordered both sizes in this, but kept the small - it's a little snug across the chest but still has plenty of room for layering pieces underneath. I wish it were slightly longer, but still hits at the top of my hips, so it's not short. All in all, I would definitely buy this jacket again - it's one of my favorites!

BEST HOODY EVER
November 25, 2009

I own numerous fleeces, hoodies, and jackets. I must say, this "three in one" hoody beats them all! I own the Belize Blue Hoody, and the color is amazing! The fleece interior is incredibly soft and incredibly warm! I live in the Pacific Northwest, and have been caught in intense wind/rain on numerous occasions and this hoody kept me dry and warm each time! This hoody fits true to size. I don't think I will ever find another hoody/fleece/jacket as awesome as the Hercules hoody!! I recommend this product to anybody and everybody!!

Beyond amazing!
April 27, 2009

This jacket exceeded my highest expectations and is everything a jacket should be. :) It's warm, soft, durable, fits perfectly and to top it off it's SOOO cute!! I'm thinking of getting more of them just in case.
