Soft, soft, soft
December 18, 2011
I bought this shell to complement my Atom SV Hoody I got as a gift. I was considering either Sentinel or Alpha SV and I am so glad I picked Sentinel. I am 5'3/122 and small fits just perfect, and matches perfectly size small Atom, so that the pair makes a perfect set for a colder or moist conditions that would be too much for just Atom itself. The Sentinel's Goretex is really soft - it may not be as durable as Alpha SV, but the softness is so great that I can forgo the greater durability of the Pro Shell in Alpha SV. Another plus of the soft shell is that it isn't "loud" as the Pro Shell jackets are. Two features of the jacket that make it a great design, IMHO, are the hood and the powder skirt. The hood coverage is great, leaving just your eyes and nose exposed to the outside world. It works great with Atom's hood and the helmet. The powder skirt is also great in that it is placed right where it should be, so it doesn't ride up. Even though I ski only groomed, it will come handy when I'm snow tubing with my kids. The wide cuffs are also great as the fit over my Black Diamond Legend gloves. This is really a perfect skier shell. And unless you are skiing in the most extreme conditions you will most likely be fine with the durability of the soft shell of this jacket. Way to go Arc'teryx!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, fits atom sv perfectly, Cons: CostArc'teryx Women's Sentinel Jacket Photo
