Lovely coat, but weird fit
May 12, 2013
I got this coat at the recommendation of a friend. It is really gorgeous, very light weight, the colors are lovely. Construction seemed really solid. I bought it in the spring, but I think it would keep you pretty warm during the winter. The hood seemed like it would cover you in a storm very well. The coat is cut for a woman's body, with a seam beneath the bust. I think for a larger busted woman, this would be really flattering. However, since I have a small bust, the torso of the coat puckered out, making me look about five months pregnant. :) I ended up returning the coat, but was disappointed, because except for the cut, it was exactly what I was looking for.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: doesn't fit all body typesMy go to jacket....

I wasn't sure about ordering this jacket, but now that I have it I love it. The perfect arcteryx size for me would be in between an XS and S, so I ordered a S so that I would be able to layer. It is a little big, but I love that about it. The grey color is beautiful. The jacket is super comfortable, keeps me warm outside, but not too warm inside. This is why I prefer synthetics when I am running around town in and out of places. I will be wearing this one for a long time.

Not like other arcteryx jackets
February 14, 2012
This jacket fit smaller than the atom lt and sv although it is made with the same material. If you have hips consider sizing up. Very tight around ribs compared to other arcteryx jackets. Although it says they have the no lift underarm gussets it did not seem like it actually did. I own the other arcteryx jackets and can move my arms in any direction ad the jackets don't move. This jacket rode up considerably even with only raising my arms 90 degrees. If you can live with this then the jacket is great but at this price that is why I like arcteryx jackets and without it it wasn't worth the money. Too constictive.
Pros: Build quality, Cons: Bad designDid you recently buy the Arc'teryx Sylva Parka? Write a review.
great winter jacket for california
March 07, 2012
This is one of the best jackets I ever owned! I am 5'10" with more short body and longer arms and legs #inch 34-36# and my weight is around 140 lb and medium size fits perfectly. It is long enough for my arms and fits good with my little bit broad shoulders. And there is still space to put under a warm sweater. The jacket feels very light in weight and still protected me fine when it was windy and cold near the Pacific #California# during the winter. It is water-repellent for sure. If it is able to keep you warm enough in really cold winters with temperatures under minus 10 degree celsius I am not sure ...But I am the type of getting usually easily cold...Since I owne this jacket just a couple of month I can't really say something about the durability. So far I washed it twice and it looks like new... It was expensive but quality has its price I guess. And so far I simply love this jacket #doesn't happen this often#.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: CostReally good, but slightly strange cut

I haven't worn this out yet. It's summer. I have tried my boyfriends version though, and that's why I bought this one. It's the same insulation and it's longer because my legs get cold. I was super happy that they make one like that because I definitely wanted a longer coat. It's light weight and packs down well.... I may get a stuff sack for it. Here's the part I'm not super into, but oh well. there are pin-tucks on the back, and it's got a seam where empire waists normally are. I think it would have been better to just have a nice fitted jacket with no stylizing. It just made it a bit strange and puffier in the back than I'd like. If I wanted puffs, I'd buy one of the ones with squares all over. Also, I wish the hood was removable.
Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost, overcomplicated designJust what I was looking for

It's perfect!!! Love the length, warmth, shape and wind stopper. It definitely holds up in the rain. I live in England and it gets cold, wet and windy here and this coat provided me everything I wanted. Great price too. Arrived right away to our APO!! Hats off to Altrec!!!

Best midlength parka ever
March 27, 2013
I absolutely love the sylva arcteryx parka. It's warm, sylish, and waterproof. It is so soft and the material feels so silky next to your skin. I also really like the feminine fit. It is very flattering and not bulky like so many other winter parkas. I like the high neck hood and the length is also just right. I shopped really hard to find a winter parka with all the things I was really looking for and now I am really hooked on arcteryx products. The are worth the higher price and I like them so much I bought two.
