Comfortable, lightweight and low profile

An awesome lid. Fits great with the included liner or over a beanie. It's lightweight and has a quality feel to it. Did I mention it's low profile and looks awesome? Definitely recommended.

They Run Small!
March 31, 2012

So I was extremely excited to have ordered this helmet from Altrec.com! However, upon receive said helmet, I was terribly disappointed to find it was too small for my big head. I even ordered XL, the largest size the EPS comes in. It's just one of the downsides to ordering gear online. Altrec.com was great with the shipping and handling though. I will be returning this product if a cannot find a friend who can use it. With Altrec.com's customer service, i feel confident in ordering a different helmet. Hopefully it will fit better. Here's a little bit on the product itself: This helmet would be a perfect all around helmet if it will fit you. It is advertised for all-year-round use but it seems to lack in that versatility without further investment. The winter liner is removable, however, you are then left with a hard shell that I feel would be better for scrabbling eggs (if you have the baker), or maybe used as a colander (with the watts). Wearing a beanie under it may cushion the sides, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the vents. There is a summer liner somewhere. It doesn't come with it, nor is it easily found. It is rumored to have been seen at high altitudes like an abominable snowman. If you are to go up rocky slopes like that, I would advise that you wear this helmet. In which case, you would be grateful to have the winter liner in. Oh, and don't forget your snowboard for the descent! Overall, I wish this helmet fit me better. I'm going to try the Hard Hat Brock Foam stuff, though it lacks in protection and safety. If it fits, at least I'll have something to prevent pavement from meeting directly with my head. As they say, a weak body guard is better than no body guard. Nobody really says that, but I can't seem to find any other helmet that is comfortable on my big head.. Wish me luck. Hope this helps you out! Take care!

Great Helmet!
March 29, 2012

The Bern line of Helmets are some of the coolest in the industry. Bern is a no-nonsense company that puts out quality products that are cool and functional. The Bern Watts EPS Helmet is a prime example of that. I consider it the lovechild of the Baker and Macon helmets. It has the low-profile stylish lid look of the Baker and the all season venting of the Macon. It's so lightweight and comfortable you forget your wearing it. It works well with all my goggles (Oakley, Anon, Smith). I recommend this helmet for all riders.

Excellent Dome Protector
March 06, 2012

Upon first receiving this it was easy to note that it was not like many of the other ski/snowboard helmets I had bought in the past. It was an entirely new shape on my head. Although it seemed to fit like a glove on my head after using it for a few weeks. Excellent visor too! not too big/not too small . The liner on the other hand is a bit strange. It seems to fit a bit strangely on my head but I use a thin hat as a liner which seems to be a bit more comfortable. I do not take many points away for this because this is also an excellent bicycle helmet also. I intend to use this helmet during spring & summer for just that.

Cons: liner

Great fitting helmet
March 02, 2012

Helmet fits great. I had originally ordered a size medium, but a size large fits perfect. My old helmet felt like a bucket on my head. I could hardly tell I had the Bern helmet on the first time I wore it. Works great with my goggles and looks good too. Best part of all Altrec gave me a great deal.

Urban riding
March 01, 2012

The Bern Watts helmet is everything it claims to be. It is warm, protective and urban hip looking. Fits a little tight, but gives you awesome protection....and feels that way. My matte black model has an edge to it. The venting is decent for this type of helmet and the visor gives some glare protection from the sun. I highly recommend this helmet....it is trendy while practical.

Good Helmet.
February 07, 2012

This is a great helmet although it does not meet some safety standards. But as I always say, having some is better than none. But if it were DOT approved I may or may not of got a concussion while wearing this helmet. And thats the reason why I gave it a 4.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
Cons: Cost, not approved by safety standards.

Only way to go...
September 01, 2011

I originally bought a large and it didn't fit (7 1/2 head) so I bought another XL and it fit's perfect. Love the helmets look and design. Best snowboard helmet on the market in my opinion! Now the for Altrec Customer Service: * that's 1 star! I've purchased atleast 4 things in the last few months but I will not be purchasing a 5th. Thanks for the Great price but that's as far as my thanks goes.

Bern Watts EPS Helmet
June 20, 2011

Good quality helmet and it has adjustable strap in back of helmet. Got the XL one to fit my head and it fits perfectly to my 59 cm head. Very cool design and looks great. Only one thing I saw that was negative is that with the snow knit that is optional on the helmet it takes up a lot of room so my head feels real tight. But without it, it fits perfectly. Overall very happy with it.

Great Helmet - Saved my Dome Piece!
May 08, 2011

Helmet was a great buy! Was looking for a helmet that didn't sit on top of my head and look strange. But not only does this helmet look great it also protects your head as well. I was recently mountain biking and took a rough landing and hit my head on a rock. Only a little stratch was evident on the helmet and my brain was still intact. Great looking helmet and great protection - what else can you ask for in a helmet! Going to get my wife one as well.

Not as comfortable as the "hard hat" version
April 21, 2011

I bought the EPS Watts and a "Hard Hat" Baker. Both size small. Sizing is true on both styles. The hard hat is definitely more comfortable (softer on the inside). The foam core in the EPS is very hard and could use a touch more padding in between your head and the foam in my opinion. I like putting on a helmet and feeling the insides mold to my head a little which I don't feel that the EPS does. The helmet sits low on your head and doesn't feel like it's sitting "on top" of your head. If you choose not to run the knit liner, I recommend putting in the padded forehead insert that comes along with it. It keeps the helmet much more secure on my head and adds comfort. I would have also liked to see a feature to plug the vents on cold days. All in all, if you're looking for a true multi-impact helmet and not just a hard hat I recommend Bern EPS products.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, multi-season
Cons: Cost, could have a softer liner

good helmet
April 18, 2011

It fits well and the liner is warm but no too warm. My only complain is the loop on the earflap for the helmet strap wasn't sewn on very well and it started coming off so I had to re-sew it.

Awesome helmet
April 16, 2011

This helmet is super comfortable. Even includes an insert that allows airflow to be blocked from the top in case it gets really cold. Removable side liner converts this helmet into a summer accessory as well. Not too bulky looking. Only issue I found was that the brim kinda prevents airflow into my goggles so I get a little fogging if my helmet is not positioned just right. Overall still a good helmet for the mountains.

Pros: Build quality, Great value
Cons: air flow to goggles

Great Helmet
March 29, 2011

The helmet itself is outstanding in build quality. The size chart is fairly accurate, but if you need room like I do for a balaclava, etc. under the helmet I would highly recommend sizing up as there is very little play in the helmet. Overall, a fantastic and stylish product from Bern.

Great Protection with Style!
December 31, 2010

This is my second Bern helmet. I found that they run a little snug for me. I normally wear a medium helmet, but the large fits me best. The vents work great on warmer days and for colder days I wear a balaclava with the helmet. I did manage to hit the snow pretty hard and this helmet protected me well. I also love Bern's design and quality. I'd definitely recommend this helmet!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
