Bite's third generation running sandal, now with a new heel strapping system and an all mesh lining to reduce heat over the foot. All other great foot health properties remain for the Men's Xtension running sandal: Strengthening the feet through increased muscle use, dual density posted midsole, cushioning, arch support, and our exclusive forefoot spring bar. Basically a supportive running shoe made into a breathable sandal. Terrific sandal for training, trail running, trekking, and marathons.

My foot hurt from wearing sneakers when I was training for the marathon. I read the book that came out recently, Born to Run. In the book, the runners used running sandals. I Googled "running sandals" and found this shoe. I ordered it, and have been really happy with it ever since I started wearing it. It is just perfect. I love it to death! No more sneakers for me!

I've had many sandals over the years from the cheapest ABC Hawaii slippers to the the best Teva's and Keen's but these are hands down the tops. They have proven to be great for running and have helped strengthen my lazy marathon feet and lower legs. They are on my feet everyday walking a couple miles and when I switch to my work shoes or running shoes I cringe. They are well built, wear well, and look great. It blows my mind to think no one knows of these. Several times I've been asked by strangers what brand are those as they have never seen them before. They couldn't be more highly recommended by me and cross your fingers they stick around as Crocs purchased Bite.

The new heel strapping system on mine failed after 300 miles. Luckily I was able to repair one side with a wire. When the other side broke at about 600 miles, I was unable to repair it. Very comfortable, would love to have more.

Because I suffer from heel pain, I have bought Bite products and have been happy with them. I bought these sandals, and can report that they're everything I expected. One criticism, Bite should provide more detailed advice about adjusting the product. At first, I didn't think the sandals would fit correctly. But once I figured out the adjusting straps, they fit fine.

both my husband and I wear these when we run and work out. you don't get hot/sweaty as when you wear shoes/socks, they are lighter, and they give you great support. we love our bite running sandals!

The sandals are comfortable and fit tightly during running. you never feel sore or tired like regular flip-flops. I suggest everyone who wants to run in hot summer day. it certainly beats sweaty socks and sneaker

I love these and they are a lot more comfortable then the Ecco Yucatan sandals that I have ditched in favor of these sandals. Good protection and hold when wearing them off off road in the California desert and they don't smell after prolonged use. The only complaint comes from my wife, who does not like the way too open looks in the front. I will work on that.

I purchased my first pair of Bite Extension Sandals years ago and after several months was so satisfied I bought a pair for several relatives and friends. My 80 year young mother put hers in the closet--fearing a fall. When I explained to her how to adjust them and she did--they came out of the closet--she's exercising in them and is now 83. These are great sandals--I was en route to the store one evening-a friend called and they needed a fourth for one set of doubles--I actually played in the Bite Sandals that I'd worn to work!!!
greg - 2008-07-22Extremely comfortable
The sandals are extremely comfortable and surprisingly supportive. After walking all day in them my feet are not tired or sore, as they were in flip-flops. I'm quite impressed w/ them. They're like running shoes w/ out the upper portion to cover your feet.

I've run with these three times so far, and today's run was by far the most comfortable. It took a bit of adjustment to stretch out the front strap -which was a bit snug at first. But the arch and heel support is just as good as my other running shoes, and they are much cooler in the NJ summer heat.
MikeMinnc - 2009-11-01Love these, but......
I love everything about these sandals except their durability. The straps fray and break on the sides where they are anchored to soles by a metal hook. As a result, I can't use these for any race after I've got about 100 miles in them because I am afraid they will break mid-race. If they would fix that one design flaw, these would be the best shoes I have ever owned.
Renee Valdes - 2009-08-24Not what I expected
My husband needed a pair of sandals that would take orthodic inserts. His Dr recommended Bites, unfortunately they are going out of business, so we couldn't find his size in the style suggested. Since the description didn't say anything about inserts, I used the 'Chat with the expert' feature on the Altrec site to validate the these had the ability to accommodate inserts. I was told that all Bite's were made the same and that this style would work for him, but that supplies were limited so order fast. I did, in fact, I ordered the last size 12's. Well don't you know when they arrived, they don't have the insert capability like the other Bites. My husband decided to try them anyway, and after one day of socializing in them, his feet were killing him. So they are useless!
