When removed it allows for replacement with your own custom footbed or orthotic, providing critical fit flexibility. And underneath your footbed of choice, Shockgrid cushioning supplies a forgiving platform. The Bite Peace shoe also features a dual density composition outsole for grip on any surface, great when running through the rain to catch the bus home from work. When I first opened the box I thought I would end up sending them back. They were very clunky looking and I worried that my feet would look huge. I wore them around the house and I was so impressed with the comfort and fit that I kept them. I am not sorry!! I have back and feet problems but these shoes have made a great difference. I have been able to stand and walk for long periods of time with no increased pain. They don't look too bad either now that I am used to them and I have worn them with jeans and casual skirts. They do require patience when first trying them on because they are a bit difficult to get on. I think if I had a shoe horn it would help. I used a thin pair of socks and this helped. I think they run a bit small. I usually wear a 9 to 9.5 and I got the larger size and I was glad. They were such a good price my mother bought a pair as well.

Shoe does run small. A bit stiff initially, but once you get the right size and break them in, they are fantastic. Truly the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I have Plantar Fasciitis & heel spur. I am size 8, purchased 8 1/2 and 9. For thicker additional insole, I use size 9. The 8 1/2 for thinner additional insert. The firm soles absorb shock very well, yet are comfortable. The OS1 footbeds that shoes come with work great. I own 3 pair, and will be ordering a 4th.

This shoe fits the bill for comfort. I put my custom orthodic insert in and it fits beautifully. The footbed is deep enough. good combo for light hiking, great sole. I wore these for long days walking around site seeing in the rain, perfectly dry. They are a bit heavy, so when you travel you wear them! Not a sleek look, more like a clog. Great for problem feet like mine.

I work on my feet in the kitchen of the Good Food Store in Missoula, MT. Lots of water and food goo. These shoes fit my wide feet really well--snug enough but not too tight and breaking in fast. They are a little hard to get on at first...need a shoe spoon. They're waterproof, don't slip and Peace-full. What could be more perfect?!?

This is a great shoe for comfort and sturdiness. I like that it comes with two sets of inserts, one with an arch and a thinner one without. I didn't realize they were waterproof when I purchased them so that was a BONUS!
Anonymous - 2009-10-20too tight and too stiff
I found the shoe to be too tight at the opening and too stiff. I usually wear a size 7.5 so I ordered that and a size 8. BOTH were too tight.
Anonymous - 2009-04-09Runs Small
I read other reviews suggesting that I might want to order a size up, but since wear a 7.5 or 8, I tried an 8. Unfortunately this wasn't large enough. I could fit my foot in the shoe, but it was uncomfortably snug. Maybe an 8.5 would've worked, (definitely a 9 if I didn't mind a little extra space) but I ended up just returning the shoes rather than exchanging them. I was a little disappointed by how hard the sole of the shoe felt, and it was INCREDIBLY difficult for me to get my feet into them! I'm not sure how much of a difference a larger size would have made in the shoe opening, but I can't imagine it would be significant enough to easily slide these on and off. Since they are leather, this issue might disappear after a while, but I need a shoe for occasional use with no break-in necessary. I did like the wide toe box - even with my bunions I felt like the ball of my foot had plenty of room. Overall, if they had been easier to get on and off I probably would've tried the larger size, but it was literally painful getting them on. Too bad, because shoes like these are usually twice the price!
