What brightness!
I am soooo excited to have purchased this new headlamp. This is the 3rd lamp Ive owned, but my first Black Diamond. It can take the place of any lantern to light up the entire camp. I was a bit concerned about the lightweight plastic feel of it, but it is very sturdy. I can shine this baby up into air at night, its like sending out the bat signal! VERY VERY BRIGHT! .I am so happy with this purchase.

The second one I've owned
There is nothing at all wrong with my old one (bought 2006 or so) but I found myself keeping it hanging in my shop for general use (I hardly ever use a hand-held flashlight anymore) and got tired of having to remember to put it in my pack when I headed out for an adventure -- so I got another to keep in my pack I do like the new dimming feature on the new version and the red light works well for those times when I don't want to ruin my night vision but need to see something in the tent etc. I do find it mildly annoying having to cycle through the spot and diffuse beams but I don't think I'd really want two separate switches so I'll just live with it. The battery life is fine for my needs. The spot is plenty bright enough to illuminate a reasonably high speed ski descent on a dark trail for those early season returns to the truck after staying for that one last powder lap. All in all an excellent piece of equipment.

Light up the night
I bought this headlamp for work in the attic and crawlspace. It allows me to have both hands free to work. The light is plenty bright and it shines where I am looking.

Super Bright!
Great headlamp! Both the brightness and the distance of the focused beam blows away any other headlamp of a comparable price. I went with the green/camo color and it still looks as new as the day I received it. Use it for hiking, camping, biking, and even used it on an ATV when the original headlamp malfunctioned.
THE GOOD: The beam is very bright. The focus allows you to notice the edge of the light field even when directed up into the high tree canopy. The casing and strap are very durable and do not show wear and tear. The housing comes off easily to replace the batteries (unlike some other brands which nearly break your fingernails), but has never opened unintentionally during use or in my pack/pocket (takes 3 AAA batteries, included). Battery life is as good as any headlamp and completely depends upon how you use it. The brightness is adjusted simply by holding the button down and realeasing when you reach your desired brightness. Simply bringing it down of the max brightness saves hours of battery life. Red LED is great for hunting and for use when you don't want to blind those around you. The lock feature saves you from killing your batteries after your lamp is accidentally turned on in your pack.
THE BAD: Every time you turn the lamp on after it is off, it alternates between the focused beam and the peripheral light LEDs. This can be annoying when you are relying on one particular light pattern, especially since they are drastically different. However, this is easy to switch by simply hitting the button two more times. The red LED is not as bright as the TIKKA 2 but works fine to get in and out of the woods while hunting or into a tent without waking another sleeper.
OVERALL: This is a great headlamp and I definitely recommend!

Excellent features
Love the battery display to check how much juice is left. A bit beefy but worth the weight due to many features like nighttime vision, dimmer, strobe, very bright spotlight. Nice colors- we could each get a different one!

Camping Must Have
I love my Spot headlamp, the LED is extremely bright. Fits comfortably and adjusts easily. I bought it just to use when setting my tent up in the dark, but found it was convenient and comfortable to keep on all night. I can't imagine camping without it!
