Great versatile shell!
August 10, 2011
Just used it for the first time in Acadia climbing for 3 days. It rained for 2 of them. Stayed dry and didn't overheat because it breaths well. Can't wait to use it during the winter in the Adirondacks! The zipper starts in the middle and then wanders off to the side which I thought was strange at first, but then you have a zipper slapping you in the nose, just the soft squirrel goodness. Still can't even believe the price!! Great deal
Pros: Great design, Performance, Great valueBomb Proof

This is my third jacket of the season, during an epic search for a durable and high-tech shell with style. This jacket is the end of my search. 686 Plexus Beta Jacket - Front Primary Zipper broke away from the seems within the first 2 weeks Airblaster AK Blaster Jacket - Front zipper Velcro started peeling away immediately in multiple places, and a pocket zipper started to unravel after the first week. Stains easily. Bond Shelter Jacket (black) - No signs of any wear or tear. Took it for an epic powder day in the glades of Jay Peak. No scratches or marks, threads are tight, the thing looks like it did when it first arrived. The style is subtle and enough. The black version has a nice teal color accents throughout so it's not just another boring black shell. The pockets and zippers are very hidden for a minimalist look. I believe this helps with the durability of the jacket. This is my 2nd Asymmetrical zipper jacket - the idea is cool and it's a nice style touch, but I wouldn't put a lot of weight on this feature in your decision making. Yes your lip isn't being bothered by the zipper when it's fully zipped, but jackets like these tend to fold oddly when not fully zipped. This one isn't as bad as the 686 Beta Plexus. The "feel" of this jacket is a little stiff. This is probably my only complaint, and the more I use the jacket the more minor the complaint gets as it's starting to form to my body and I'm getting use to it. The jacket feels like a stiffish rain jacket - with the inside liner being very rubbery.
