In addition to the waterproof barrier, a gusseted tongue keeps annoying debris from working its way into the boot. Heel and toe bumpers, in addition to a full-length Phylon midsole, smooth over the rough surfaces encountered on peak scrambles and rough trails. A shank between the Nike Bandolier Mid GTX's midsole and outsole provides exceptional torsional resistance, keeping the underfoot platform's shape over rough terrain. Excellent traction is achieved with Nike's All-Trac Trail outsole, designed for a positive grip on wide ranging surfaces, from wet lawns to the dry slickrock of canyon country.
