Burton and snowboarding are so closely intertwined, it is hard to imagine one without the other. Jake Burton Carpenter is truly one of the pioneers of the sport, having developed boards that combined surf, skate, and ski, in the early 1970's. Based out of Vermont, one of the first states to adopt snowboarding and allow for terrain parks and the first ever snowboard competitions, Burton Snowboards built the world's first snowboard factory, and began making boards for a sport that hadn't yet begun to hit the mainstream. The company was born in the right place at the right time as Vermont resorts began to open up their lifts to snowboarders, and the concept of snowboarding gained momentum. In the past thirty odd years, Burton has exploded into an industry leader, making high quality boards, bindings, boots, outerwear and accessories, all designed for pure snowboarding performance. Burton is more that just a snowboard company, but is almost synonymous with the culture and passion among its riders. The company has grown to be the largest snowboard brand in the world, but somehow still retains its core values, performance and unique appeal.

In 2009, Burton began implementing a single-channel binding-mounting technology on its snowboard lines. This system is designed to offer the rider control and increased board-feel and flex. Every season, Burton continues to innovate with all levels and types of riding in mind. Whether you're Shaun White, or a newbie to the sport, Burton offers a wide range of product right for you.

Burton Snowboards is dedicated to giving back to the sport. In 1998, the company created a Learn to Ride program which focuses on providing beginner-level equipment in order to give new riders the ultimate first experience. In 2005, Burton's Chill program was formed, offering kids the opportunity to learn to ride, working in partnership with inner-city programs to target kids who wouldn't normally have the chance to learn how to snowboard.

If you're on the search for snowboarding hardgoods or softgoods, Altrec has a range of Burton products in store. Shred the mountain on the Women's G10 Snowboard or take your riding to a whole new level with the Women's Feelgood Vrocker. Stay warm and stylish in the Men's Arctic Jacket. Keep your feet content while ripping it up all day in the Men's Six Snowboard Boots, and don't forget your homework in the Metalhead Laptop Backpack.

Boots, check. Board, check. Jacket, Check. Pants, Check. Accessories, Check. Be ready to hit the mountain this season in Burton style.
