Great looking jacket and quality appears 1st class
November 23, 2009

I always liked the Burton AK range for its understated simplicity (I'm 41 and dont look good in Neon pinstripe!) and bombproof construction. Intial thoughts are it is cut big. I am 155lbs and 5 11" and would be a medium anywhere else but the small is fine. I tried it on in a shop before I bought it. The sleeves and body are long. The aquazips are also VERY sticky and need a bit of a pull to open (hence the lack of 5 stars) It seems a common issue and maybe they will loosen up. Opening up on the mountain will be a gloves off exercise. The life time warranty means I am not too worried. A trip to Skidubai next week with be the first test of the jacket but I dont expect it to be anything but perfect

Awesome Jacket
March 20, 2011

It only takes one run to notice how awesome this jacket really is. I have previously been using a Columbia jacket and by comparison the Burton AK fits better, is warmer, fewer air leaks, and allows for more mobility. I should have purchased this jacket years ago.

great jacket
January 10, 2012

I love this jacket. I bought the white jacket with blue and black stripes. Its very comfy and has worked well for me. I've worn it in a variety of conditions and I'm now starting on my second year with it. Its definitely a durable jacket. Pros - gore-tex - the snowguard has velcro straps to attach to pants - zippers are easy to use with gloves on - comfy material at the top of the zipper - durable - large mesh pocket inside to put phone/mp3 player Cons - hood won't fit over most helmets - velcro on mesh inner pocket gets caught on the mesh itself - only one inner pocket on one side - the white has picked up dirt that won't wash out, looks almost brown in spots I would highly recommend this jacket.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Cons: Cost

waterproof
February 17, 2011

light yet waterproof. runs big for layering. i am 5'9 173lbs and a large fit well for multiple layers. Don't be surprised how thin it is remember it is just a shell. I layered it with ak windproof hoodie and firstlayer was toasty on 30 degree day.

Expensive, but worth it
February 28, 2011

This jacket is as advertised...it is great against water and snow. However, it is not warm at all. If you are boarding in cold conditions, you will need another thick layer under this one. This jacket only serves as an outer shell. If it is snowing, I usually wear another jacket under this one, and simply use this jacket as a waterproof layer. It works great for that purpose. I gave it 4 stars and not 5 simply because of the the price. At this price, I would think the jacket would be slightly warmer. So if you are looking to purchase one versatile jacket this season, then I would not recommend you buy this, because you will have to either wear lots of layers under it, or wear another jacket under it. This jacket has everything expected of a Burton AK. If you buy it, you wont be disappointed.

Great Quality
January 17, 2011

This is a quality product. It does an amazing job blocking wind and keeping water out. But beware, make sure you're prepared with base layers because there is no insulation. I'm 6'2" and 195 lbs and the Large fits perfectly. The length is great and the sleeves are a perfect fit.

Pros: Build quality

Lil too baggy
December 07, 2009

I am 5'10"....175 and a Medium is a bit too baggy for my likings. Bad on the warmer winter days when you just want to wear a thin base layer, good on those frigid January days when you need to layer the up. Quality is solid, should be at this price.

Jacket is awesome...
April 01, 2011

This jacket is a simple but rad jacket. It is just a shell so you need to layer it but it fits great and looks sweet on the hill or if your just wearing it around town. I wore it almost every day after I got it and would recommend it to anyone.

Great Jacket
May 16, 2013

After borrowing a friends Cyclic jacket for my trip to Mammoth this year I had to have one. Well constructed light weight jacket that was perfect for the warm temperatures this spring. The jacket I wore was a small. At 5'9" and 150 the small worked in the warm conditions but I purchased a medium to have more room when layering in colder conditions. There seems to be about a 1 inch difference in width and length between the small and medium. I did'nt have any rain days so I can't comment on the weather proofing but I do have a pair of Burton AK bibs that are 10 years old that show no signs of wear and have never let me down.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever

Burton has done a fantastic job creating an affordable jacket that is reliable and stylish for all conditions. The AK 2L Jacket w/ GoreTex kept me dry and warm in mid-feb. in Utah & CO. Fits true to size.

Best in class!

This jacket is top notch, spent 2 months in Utah and pretty much rode everyday in it and never got wet, great quality for the price.

Great Gore-Tex shell
December 07, 2010

recently purchased from altrec.com for an outer layer GORE-TEX waterproof shell (lightweight) to wear over a down jacket (for warmth). This combination is exactly what I was looking for... the AK jacket will keep me dry on wet, slushy, rainy days on the slopes of MT HOOD, and wearing a down jacket underneath will keep me warm and toasty on the coldest of days.... -Hoodlum

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, very water proof, Cons: not warm

2 Layer Gore Tex Perfection
January 15, 2012

I am 6 feet tall and weigh 220 pounds and the XL fits perfectly. This jacket does the job from opening day until the end of the season. Don't let the lightweight feel of this jacket trick you. When it is cold and windy, layering with a moisture-wicking performance t-shirt and fleece will keep you warm. The powder skirt does a great job of keeping snow from going up your back. The hood is big enough to be worn over a helmut. This jacket stops the wind cold due to the fully tapred seams. Even the Zippers are water resistant. On warmer days, the pit zips ensure that you don't overheat. The style of this jacket is unmatched. This jacket can make the transition from the slopes to the streets.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost

Great Outer Layer
December 10, 2010

This is a great outer shell jacket. If you are looking for a shell with frills, this isn't it. If you are looking for a great waterproof GORE-TEX jacket that will keep you dry in the worst conditions, AK is the way to go. I pair it with a fleece layer on colder days and it's all I need. Does a great job of keeping the cold wind from piercing into your body as well.

Great Jacket
December 04, 2011

I've owned Burton AK stuff for the last 14 years, and I think it just gets better. The Cyclic jacket is only a shell so you need to layer up, but it does everything I need it to do to have a great time on the mountain and stay dry. The fit is true to the sizing chart. This jacket even works extremely well as a rain jacket around town. Plus this year's looks are killer!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, looks great

2l cyclic jacket
November 10, 2011

this jacket is great from the pipe to the steeps. this jacket is also great in the pow because it drawstrings tight at the waist. This jacket is not too heavy for warm days due to the pit zips.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost

Great Jacket
May 10, 2011

Just purchased this jacket in the Trocadero Denim color. It is very nice and has a slightly purple hue to it which I didn't expect but am pleased by. The construction of the jacket seems excellent and I am very satisfied with the purchase. The jacket does run big. I am 6'2" 230lbs and bought and xl. I can easily fit an AK BK insulator jacket underneath. If I didn't plan on layering I would have ordered the Large. I have been using the jacket for hiking as it is lightweight and great in the spring rain. It also packs up very small and doesn't take up much room in your backpack. All around great jacket.

Bullet Proof!
November 24, 2009

This jacket is solid - the fabric is not only wear resistant but looks good as well. I have last years model with the off set zip - nice to have that off the face - the fleece lining in the neck and pockets is great as well. Overall this jacket is another great offering from Burton.
