Keeps wind and moisture out. I use them alone as a light glove. When snowshoeing. If you stay busy it's all you need.

Fine Liner
I have just received my pair and used it in NYC during beginning of March(somewhat cool but not freezing weather around 20 degrees) so no real snow action. Gloves are well designed and nice to look at. Sticky palm is really sticky yet i felt some plastic pushing against my index finger when i was busy holding something or reaching inside a bag. The reason i gave a four rather than five is because i have used black diamond gloves for 3 years and they hold out much better in city much more wind resistant than burton. Yet it is a fine and a cheap glove if you are budgeting.
