Redesigned with a new freestyle profile and pressure distribution edging, the all-mountain Royale is a mid-wide that will easily glide into switch riding and hardcore jibbing. It's a distinctly different Royale ride from seasons past, but this board still remains a highly versatile mid-wide that's ideal for intermediate and advanced riders who wear size 10 boots and up. Like the freestyle-oriented Burton Air, the Royale uses the popular and proven Super Fly wood core with Dualzone Edge Grain Direction at toe and heel and a complete Triax fiberglass wrapping. Dualzone Edge Grain Direction improves the edging and adds durability without smothering the pop in unwanted weight. The layers of Triax fiberglass add torsional stiffness for exceptional carving and easy turn initiation. Burton's Pressure Distribution Edges beneath the binding areas extend out a half-millimeter more than the rest of the board for better grip on slick and unyielding ice or hardpack. While the Pressure Distribution Edges add grip, the modification doesn't mess with the intuitive, user-friendly feel. This is a great mid-wide freestyle design for intermediates who already like to carve, but want to spend a little more of their learning curve among the challenges in the pipe and park. If you're into lively, freestyle-leaning performance, the Burton Royale is a comfortable alternative to wedging your feet into small boots to eliminate toe-side drag.
Great Board
I have no complaints, I used to ride a Burton Floater and this is definitely a step up. Even though only mid-wide still works great with even the largest foot size - I'm a 14 and don't get much toe or heel drag at all. Pair with the Mission binding and you're ready for an all-mountain attack.
Great ride
Ride a '06 166 for past 2 seasons & can't complain one bit...it has loved every bit of terrain I've thrown at it & eaten it up nicely. I do more freeride than freestyle & wish it did a bit better on icy big runs or thru the glades, but can't complain one bit for the amount of the mountain this board does well.
Couldn't Be Happier!
I have been riding a K2 FatBob for the last 7yrs; so the Royale was like a sports car compared to a mini-van. My first day on it the conditions were a little icey; it never lost an edge and maneuvered amazingly well. I wear a size 12 boot so I assumed I needed a realy wide board like the FatBob; not so, the Royale is plenty wide, and still has a great ride w/ no toe or heel drag. I got Burton Mission bindings and they also perform great and are very comfortable.

162 Royale
This board is sick for a "big-foot" rider. I'm an 11.5-12 boot size, and have minimal toe drag...risers increase the responsiveness and allow for deep carves.
Blue Burton Royale Snowoard
I had originally ordered what i thought was the yellow and black board, and had received a blue and white one. but he loves the board so everything worked out great. shipped quickly with no damage.
i was satisfied with my service.
sweeet
rides like a baby
GREAT
I rode this board after riding a K2 satellite and its amazing. I was able to adjust on the very first run. Carving is natural on this board. Excellent for pregression and recreational freeriding on any trail. Overall, great board (esp. w/ cartel bindings).
I Loved it !!!
Great board with an elegant look. Highly versatile, smooth turns, deep snow riding with a great comfort.
Royale is Dope!
This Royale 162 is Gnar in the Backcountry, Super stable when bombing and it gives me a lot of confidence in deeper powder having that stability.
166 Burton Royale
Great board. Excellent carving action and very easy to turn. Can't go wrong with this board.
166 - nice grip
I am more of a kiteboarder, so I cannot tell much about this board (yet), but I have the impression this board is very good. I bought the 166 with burton "custom" bindings, and the difference with the cheap bogus (Quicksilver Macabreus) I had before is amazing. Edging is Edging now. The board goes exactly where I want it to go, but I assume that goes for all decent snowboards...
its alright
