I bought these snowboard boots for my daughter. She outgrew her first pair and loved them so much, I bought her a second pair of the same boots. Each year, the Burton Emerald boot has different exterior patterns, but the boot is the same. They have a super warm liner and they fit snuggly (no slipping at the heal). She tried on several brands and models before she found one that didn't slip. They have a pull-string tighting mechanism, so no hand lacing. This saves a lot of time. You pull the bottom tight and it locks into place and you pull the top tight and it locks into place. The pull strings even have their own pockets to tuck into, so no long strings hanging out. They are very well made. My daughter is tough on boots and she outgrew these boots and the boots still look great (normally she destroys the boots long before they are outgrown). I will continue to buy these boots every time she outgrows hers.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use

I have this same boot and I love them. I am a 3 year boarder and haven't had any issues. I agree that the boot does loosen up after some use; however, I find that normal in most snow sport footwear. I would recommend this boot to any lady who wants comfort, warmth, and (hee hee) to look good on the slopes.
Great company, product, and shipped on time!

With all of the internet sites to choose from, altrec had the product I wanted at a discounted price compared to other sites and they shipped it within the time promised! Thank you!
They are awesome.

These are best boots I have worn so far. They are easy to tighten and stay nice and tight with good support.
Still up in the air

I went with the customer service advice and bought the boots true to size at 7. I havn't had the chance to ride in them yet, so this review may be subject to change. They feel really, really tight even after an hour walking around with them, but I'm gonna try breaking them in even more and see. The lacing system works great though. Easy to get in and easy to get out!!! Saves so much time!!! And looks pretty darn styling :)Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Cons: Cost, size?
Awesome...One year later!

One year later I finally break down and trash my old Burton boarding boots, and I break out my new Burton boots. They are amazing. I should have used them sooner! I broke my ankle boarding several years ago and Burtons are always a great fit and very supportive.

I bought these boots for my daughter who is an amature snowboarder. She told me that the boots have an excellent fit, and even after 8 hours of non-stop riding her feet were not sore or tired at all. She highly recommended it to everyone (including me).
These are the ones!

I finally broke down and bought boots this year and these are the ones to own. I have a very narrow foot and these fit tight in the heel, so no more heel lifting. I'm sure they will soften after use, but they get an A+ in my book!
Love these boots

My shoe size is 7.5 but after trying these on in the local ski store; I order a size 8. My first time snowboarding they were heaven! The laces are so easy to use. They kept my foot very warm and were comfortable to walk around in. I highly recommend these and the black/white with houndstooth design and splash of green color looks even better in person than in the photo.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
light as a feather babayy!

this is my second pair of burton's...what a difference! my first pair were the freestyle's from back in the day...lets just say no more lead feet! the new emerald's are light, feel more like sneaks, and have a funky houndstooth style to keeping you looking fresh and classic. they're also on the softer side (which i prefer) so you're feet have some flexibility (for the most part) for a snowboard boot. my shoe size is anywhere from 6.5-8,(depending on the shoe) (ie. flats 6.5-7, sneaks 7-7.5, boots 7-8*), and i have and average width (B or so) but i found the 7's in the emerald's to be small. my toes were right at the edge. the 7.5's fit better, still a bit snug so i'm going to try on an 8 and see how they feel. i tend to like a little wiggle room at the toes whereas some peeps like to have their feet tucked in tightly. The length of the shoe was more of a concern as opposed to the width. if you're looking for something light on your feet, these aren't a bad investment.Pros: Great design, Build quality, light on feet

Very comfortable right from the start. They are easy to tighten although, I am finding it hard to get it just right in the lower zone. Too tight and your foot goes to sleep. Too loose and and I dont have good control when boarding. Warm even with out using the hot pockets. I found it difficult to get the hot pocket into the pouch in the liner in the toe of the boot.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

I have consistently bought DC boots for riding (and have not a single complaint against those) but decided to widen my range this year and came across this boot. It is a fantastic boot and has relaxed any of my fears of switching from a known and trusted brand. This boot is warm, comfortable, and yes (although not an important selling point for me) quite pretty. Riding a variety of terrains, this boot has proved versatile enough to provide good comfort on each. My feet never get cold (big selling point for me) and the way the boot hugs your foot is amazing. My only suggestion in purchasing this boot...get it a size too small, or even half a size too small. After riding for a couple days, they really relax and although the inner liner stays nice and tight, the desing doesn't allow for extra tightening on the outer lacing. However, if you find youself in this position, any sporting good store will be able to outfit you with either an instep/sole or additional inner liner which rectifies the problem wuite nicely. All in all 5 out of 5 stars from me on this boot.
Great boot but heel slips!
January 12, 2010
This is my 3rd year riding and I finally bough a pair of boots that fit right, the Burton emeralds! Although these boots are super comfy and fit perfect my heel seems to slip around way more than it should! I have worn them 5 times now and I can't seem to tie them comfortably! I tried to tie them tight to prevent heel slip and after an hour my feet end up falling asleep and my heel still lifts! If you don't tie them tight enough then your heel will really slip around!!!!
