Description

Inspired by actress Rebecca Romijn who needed a coat to keep her warm between X-Men II scenes in the snow, the Canada Goose Women's Mystique Parka kept her warm while wearing only body paint. Certain to keep you warm and toasty down to the calf, whether you are running errands across town or heading to the theatre in sub-zero temperatures, you'll remain cozy in this winter coat during arctic conditions. The Mystique features a versatile removable hood that is trimmed with a detachable coyote fur ruff for full weather protection, a gap closing Velcro® -secured collar, wind blocking down-filled front zipper backing flap, and recessed nylon rib-knit cuffs that seal the wrist. I've been eyeing this jacket for months, but my desired size wasn't available. So when I saw that my XS was finally available, I jumped right on it. Sadly the jacket is still way to big on me. I am 5'6 and 110 lbs. Granted I know I am skinny, but it just didn't work out for me. It was extremely warm and I loved the hood. It was very snugly and warm. I also thought it was too long..if only the sizing worked out, I would be wearing this jacket right now.

Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: Bad design

Great Choice for Winter
December 08, 2010

I've succeeded at finding a great coat to battle the cold/windy New York winters. The Mystique Parka is very warm, fitted and nice and long. You will not be disappointed. A couple of extra nice features are the wrist cuffs that prevent wind from blowing up your sleeve and the length of the coat. The only thing I was disappointed with was the fur trim around the hood. The picture shows a generous amount of fur, however, what you get is about half the amount that is shown in the picture.

This is my coat for the coldest temperatures!
October 30, 2012

I feel the cold very, very badly and am lucky enough to have both the Mystique and Kensington Canada Goose jackets. The Mystique keeps me warm and cozy, even with only one layer underneath, in the coldest temperatures that Chicago has. The Kensington is wonderful for anything in the 20's and 30's. I have an XS in both jackets though the fit is quite different. The Mystique is far more snug across my back and arms. I am 5 2" and 110-115 pounds. I adore Canada Goose and cannot imagine a winter without a Canada Goose jacket.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

Great Jacket!
October 03, 2011

This is a great jacket. It is extremely warm and keeps since it is a long jacket, really insulates most of your body and also is great at blocking the wind. Durability and quality are outstanding. Have owned it about two years now and it still looks brand new. Highly recommend!!!

warmest coat, beautiful too
September 17, 2011

I am the type of person that always complains about cold. I've been living in Boston for the past seven years, and my hometown is in the Carpathians of Eastern Europe, so I really know how cold winters can be. I also like walking by the Charles river, even in the winter. I walk about two miles to work, and sometimes come back late at night--in January/February too. Never before did a coat make me feel so warm and fuzzy, until I finally got the mystique. I've heard of Canada Goose before, but the price tag seemed unreachable to the poor graduate student that I am. After trying on this same parka belonging to a friend that made better career choices (i.e. finance), I decided I need to have one. What can I say? It was worth every penny. it is warm, comfortable, stylish. The hood is a great design, with an inner "wire frame" on the inside that makes it stay on through the harsh wind (I've read the other reviews, and maybe it does not keep all of your face protected, but short of a ski mask, it does a great job protecting your face from cold). In conclusion, it is expensive, but it does take away my cold winter blues. Can't put a price on that.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: Cost

Warmest coat ever
February 03, 2013

I live in AZ and purchased this coat for business travel on the East Coast. It arrived in a timely manner and in perfect condition. You will find me in a jacket when it is 60 degrees, so the fact that I walked a couple blocks in Boston in 8 degree weather without feeling cold was AWESOME. My colleagues where freezing. I am 5'7" and 130 lbs. size 4 and wear a S or M. I purchased a size M and it was too big, so I returned it for a size S. It is a perfect fit even if you wear layers underneath. I wore the coat with a variety of outfits/shirts...business suit, sweater, sweat shirt, and a thin cotton shirt. This is the best coat ever and the fur around the hood is gorgeous!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

this coat is huge
January 08, 2010

warm and comfy, nice sturdy hood and big zipper, also the sleeves are really long and warm and the liners are stretchy so they cover your wrists well. the only thing i didn't like is the length; i am 5'2" and the XS fits me like a dress, almost to my ankles. i kept the coat but it's definitely going to get snow on the bottom... i live in Chicago.

This coat comes as described, it is beautiful, well made and suited for the cold climates. The coat fits well, is very warm and the coyote fur on the hood adds a great touch. Canada was built on the fur trade and it is refreshing to to see a company that is not afraid to use a renewable resource like coyote. Well done Canada Goose and thank you Altrec!

Super Warm
February 15, 2013

I kept seeing people all over town wearing this brand and I could tell it was a high-quality, high-end coat. I did some research and went with this longer parka, with that said, please know that this parka is just a few inches above the ankle, so if you're used to longer parkas that are slightly below the knees this may not be for you. It is incredibly warm. I could probably just wear underwear underneath it go outside and still feel warm. You do not need to wear layers underneath this coat. It is a little bulky near the neck and collarbone, but surprisingly pretty fit in the waist. You could easily walk for miles or hours in this coat and be unaffected by the cold.

Minnesota College Bound- Great Solution!
October 28, 2011

Accepted at MN college without a car, I knew I would need a very warm weather-protection parka for walking around campus. Started my search last June. Read many, many reviews on the best solution. This coat not only solved the problem, fit the bill, but is also was very attractive, with timeless classic style ; unlike most of the others that looked like a sleeping bag when put on. Excellent coat! Would highly recommend it - kinda pricey BUT I figure it will last through college years and later - "unless someone steals it-NOT!" Purchased medium to fit 5'8" tall/145lbs., sleeves tight around wrist, perfect length. Wish it had a fastener around hood tends to blow off head in wind - scarf holds it in place usually.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Cons: hood doesn't have tie or button

Beautiful & warm, needs more pockets and length
June 20, 2011

I'm never warm enough, and searched for the longest, warmest coat possible for Michigan winters. As Canada Goose outfits researchers in Antarctica, I was eager to see what they could do, and spotted the Mystique "in the wild" on another woman at the grocery store. She was evangelical about the coat, and let me try hers on. Wow! I ordered it, it is beautiful and seems like it will be quite warm, but two things disappoint me: It is not as long as I expected, and there are no large exterior pockets like that older version I tried on had - only shallow hand warmer pockets that are up so high and so small that I need to shrug my shoulders to squeeze my hands in. Customer service at Canada Goose said that the coat is 49" long in a medium plus 1/4" for a large, and that the pockets are up high so that you can get your hands in while sitting down. They can not make custom longer orders or modify the coat in any way. I am 5'-9", and normally wear a size 10 or 12. As other reviewers said it runs big, I ordered a medium. I'll be needing a large. For shorter women, this coat will your legs toasty, but I'll need knee-high boots to keep mine warm. Wish they made a tall version, or could make the coat a few inches longer and provide a petite option, as this is the only long coat they make. And it REALLY needs large pockets lower down. No place to safely store anything like car keys without unzipping the coat, or mittens that aren't in use. If this is to be my warm coat for life, I need function as well as style.

Pros: Build quality, aesthetics

This jacket is just nice over all. Just be sure that you do not wash this jacket. Let experts do it. Otherwise you will ruin it.

Women's Mystique Parka
December 23, 2009

My Mystique Parka was an excellent choice for winter. I am able to stand outside in single digit temps while waiting for the train in complete comfort. The zipper is easy to engage and the sleeves are perfect for my height (5'9"). The wrist reinforcements prevent the wind from getting into the jacket. The hood is well-sized and provides good coverage. Overall, the price of the parka suits the very high quality of the garment!

Memory that will last many years
December 27, 2011

I bought this parka for my wife as a gift. When she opened the box, she was delighted. We had looked at several other long length parka's, but were not happy with the fit and finish. Some of the down filled, nylon shelled coats looked and felt like wearing a sleeping bag. My wife prefers a tailored look. When she tried this parka on, she thought she was in heaven. Everything about this parka screams quality. She is 5'7" tall and weighs 140 lbs. I ordered a size medium and it fit perfectly. Yes, it seems expensive, but given the high quality, it is a good value. The best part is I will have the memory of the smile on her face for many years to come.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, makes you feel good to wear it!
