Carhartt Artic Hood
I work in a very cold building, I was given the Carhartt Artic coveralls and the hood. They are made very well, I feel no cold and stay dry. I bought a 42 medium and it fits just right. The hood is very stiff and so are the coveralls, they rub on my chest and neck. I think after a while they will soften up. But it is well worth the cost and a little getting used to it. I think Carhartt should be made in the USA.

This hood fits strangely.
As mrwickwire stated, the velcro totally sticks to my Arctic Extremes Cordura Coat, and shreds the Cordura up, so I took my seam ripper to it, and removed the velcro. There is no reason to tear up my new coat, and it was more annoying than anything, to have it keep sticking to the shoulder of my coat.
Hopefully, one day I'll affix some snaps there, or maybe have some buttons installed, but for now, it's worth it to not have that feature, in order to save my fabric.
Other than that design flaw, I find this hood does not stay on my head. It slowly rides further and further back, exposing my forehead. I know I can cinch the toggles and "fit" it to my head, but all my other hoods can just sit up there for a quick shield from the rain, without bothering with all the fastening down mechanisms.
It's also kind of pointy. Not like conical, but almost. Much pointier than any human head.
It's warm, and constructed of bombproof cordura, so I do like it, but I just wish it would rest on my head without constantly falling off the back.

Get the hood too!
This hood is great! Very warm and easily removed from the coat. If you buy the coat get this too.

must have companion to the coat! However, the velcro can stick to the jacket and cause premature wear.

Hood
Like most Carhartt products, they are well made, durable, built for function not fashion. The price was competitive and the service excellent.
Wish: I wish it was made of a softer material.

Matching hood to Atomic warm Extreme Arctic jacket
This hood repels weather with extreme prejudice. It looks at an arctic outflow warnings and laughs. This hood matched up with the Carhartt jacket takes a weather bomb and drops it right back on where it came from. I am being funny here but the point is the hood that goes with that jacket is incredibly warm and durable. I think I have to go with Carhartt here on out. The quality has really surprised me matched up with the price. That said, there are other jackets and such out there that are twice to three times the price that are not the same quality. So, there are other hoods and jackets out there but for me... I got to go with Carhartt... the quality will just last for years and years. Altrec is the place for me to buy it. They say they match the price but really what does that matter if they are the lowest price anyway.
