Worth every penny
February 07, 2012
It seemed like so many fellow backpackers and outdoor types had chacos and wore them for everything from hiking to apres hiking to going to class and everything in between. But I was dubious about the extra weight. Having given them a try, and taken them on several backpacking trips and broken them in, I can't imagine not having them with me. Once you adjust the straps the way you want them, they are perfect and it's easy to forget they're even on. you will want to take your time at finding the exact adjustment you want. Yes, they are heavier than some camp shoes, flip flops, etc. but the comfort and support are an unbeatable combo. These things are so durable and well-made too. And to top it all off, they are cool looking, which of course make you cool looking too. Altrec has good prices on these things as well as a good color selection. You will not regret your decision to enter the world of chacos.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, great looking!, Cons: need to take your time to adjust

These are the second pair I have purchased of these. Gave them as a gift to my son. So comfortable and durable, my husband won't stop stealing them. Had to get another pair...for him! Both guys LOVE these shoes!!!
Best sandal ever made!!!

I have worn chacos for years now. My first pair I wore out and sent it to Chaco's and had it rebuilt. This time my Mom got me a new pair for Christmas. I wore them while I lived in Hong Kong for a year I met some people that looked at my shoes and said Chacos I bet I can guess where you are from. My son said OK, he said northern California. This person was from Sweeden, he knew his shoes.

This is my second pair. After 4 years the first are still going strong but I wanted the Z1 without the toe loop to wear with socks. I both hike and bike in them. The traction on rocks and pedals is great.Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, comfortable
I had to return my sandals but I'm going to reorder

I took the advice of a 'Review' and ordered a size smaller than I wear as a shoe. And guess what, they were too small. I normally wear a 10 and ordered a 9. My toes were past the front edge and there was barely enough straps to let my foot in. I was impressed with the product design. Nice arch support and good road surface. I like that you can get them wet. I live near the beach. I'm re-ordering to get a 10

Great Sandal for the Flat Footed!!!

I am a huge fan of sandals and to my dismay, when my arches collapsed, I expirenced extreme difficulty in wearing any type for long periods of time. Then came my intro to Chacos. They have an extremely robust sole and I find that I can stand on them for hours at ends, which I can't do without ortopedic inserts in normal shoes. Great for shorter hikes (3-5 miles) and/or just hanging around town I would recommend these sandals to everyone. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but they are well worth the investment!!!!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
My bro likes them
May 31, 2009
I got these for my 21 year-old brother. He said he likes them, they are comfortable. And, he thinks the green strap color is really cool because it has the brown sole. He is usually a size 10.5- and the size 10 fit him well.
I wish I could wear them year-round!

These sandals are awesome! Every piece on them are durable. They are also very comfortable and provide great arch support. I have even worn them with a 30lb pack on a 56KM, 3-day trek in NZ because the trail went on and off beaches. They performed superbly and I never received blisters. Well worth every penny!
Most Comfortable Sandal - my 2nd pair
August 31, 2009
Great sandals that are easily adjustable, durable, and comfortable. I live in my Chaco sandals. You can run in them and walk significant distances in comfort. When they wear, you can have them re-soled or replace the belt. I have only had to replace the sole on my 1st pair. Cost and service is reasonable, quick, and convenient. To clean, toss them in the washer... come out like new. Altrec.com offered the best price and the order was fast, efficient, and without a hitch. I would order from them again.

2nd Pair, Still a Success
January 24, 2011
This is my second pair of Chaco's. Buy them out of season! They are way cheaper. The only flaw is they take awhile to get adjusted and broken in but after that they seriously are the best shoe you'll ever have!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value
Great all-around footwear that is incredibly durable
September 11, 2009
I bought these after my Tevas fell completely apart. They're great once you get them all adjusted, very durable, and great for everything from kayaking to hiking. These will last pretty much forever!

Bought these for a vaca in cancun. I wanted a versatile sandle that could hike ruins, lounge the beach, and dress for dinner. Plus, be comfortable to wear all day; a challenge for my poor feet. These chacos have done all that with comfort and minimal break-in. They will get a little hot on the sole of feet, but adjust well for late-day swelling. Can tell they will last! Very impressed with my new favorite shoe.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value, comfort

I have a wide foot. Most sandals have to be too long for me to fit my width. This shoe comes in wide so I don't have to go up a size. I wear a men's 10 in athletic shoes but got a 9 wide in these. I have not taken them on the river yet, but will soon.Cons: heavy
what a great pair of chacos

i wanted to wear these things for awhile before writing a review. I have worn them for a few weeks now and they have held up great. my feet feels pretty comfortable and snug after i broke them in. my friend was right in that you should definitely order a size down from what you usually wear for tennis shoes.

those aren't me first sandals, but they are the best. strong, fit for 2-3 days of hard walking. tried taking them to deserd treking, and they were really good protecting me from stones as long as having very good grip.Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, Cons: slow wearing
Third Pair Returning Customer
July 09, 2010
I've owned tree pairs of Chaco sandals in the past 7+ years. They are rugged, comfortable, well designed and attractive for both men and women (my sister introduced me to them). Basically, I'm a lifetime customer since none of the other sandal brands can compete. Altrec's prices and size/color selections are the best as well!

I did a lot of research on here and asking many different people who had these shoes and all I ever found were positive thoughts. I bought some and they are great in every way so far. I plan on taking them to Australia and New Zealand later this year.
