Can walk for miles
September 30, 2010

I bought these for my boyfriend and he wears them all the time. He had a little trouble finding the right width, apparently the regular was a little narrow for his foot, but he has pretty wide feet. The wide in a size down from normal finally worked.

Great water sandal
July 18, 2011

Excellent comfort for in and out of water. Adjustable straps provide a nice all around fit. Sandal has good arch support and good traction on sole for rocky climbs.

Perfect gift
December 10, 2010

These shoes were the perfect gift for my son who backpacked through Europe this past summer. They are durable and light weight. He did say that he did not like wearing them in some locations because of the lack of protection. Overall 5 stars.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

More than a sandal
June 13, 2010

I just received my third pair of Z2s from Altrec. These are fantastic footwear. Though not the lightest sandal, the arch support is great, the fit is perfect due to the serpentine strap, and the traction is positive. I have hiked Mt. Le Conte in an identical pair without blisters or joint pain. Having once worked for a wilderness treatment program, I have sprinted to a restraint in them. Additionally, Altrec shipped my most recent pair to my door for less than anyone else was even offering the sandal. Buy with confidence.

Awesome
May 13, 2010

I purchased just before going to FL for vacation and am thankful that I did. They are so great, the way they are made makes it easy to rinse them off, and yet at the same time they are very nice to wear with any outfit. I am sold on these things.

Excellent product
May 13, 2010

I love these shoes. Fit great, fairly stylish. My only complaint is that they are rather heavy until you get used to them. Expect a good calf work out until then.

great upgrade
July 29, 2010

I've had my first pair of Chaco's for several years and my only complaint was lack of forefoot control. this version takes care of that. they're comfortable on long hikes, very supportive in the rear-foot and now in the front as well. well worth the money. also great town shoes.

The sandals came when they said they would arrive and in great condition. I will be sure to remember Altrec for my future purchases.

A Worthy Investment
August 03, 2010

I bought these sandals for my husband as a replacement for the same style he had for over 8 years. They supported him in many hikes and daily wear over the years, through many countries. He prefers this style with the toe straps so that they don't slide on the downhill. The vibram soles are well the the price and will hold up for thousands of miles.

Great shoes. Slow shipment.
October 14, 2009

These are my 3rd pair of Chaco Z/2 Unaweep sandals. They are absolutely the BEST all-terrain, all-situation sandals on the market. However, Altrec took 6 days from the date I ordered the sandals until the date of shipment. This is perhaps the longest I have ever waited for an internet order to be filled. My rating is based on the quality and utility of the shoes and not on Altrec.

perfect, custom fit

I have adjusted the straps to get the absolute perfect fit. The soles are sturdy and I use my chacos on rugged trails and rocky shores. I highly recommend them.

Great Sandal

Chaco's are the best. Can even wear them hiking. Shipping from Altec was immediate. Product and service was overall excellent.

Great
August 10, 2010

Chaco makes the best sandals! My last pair was holding up great after near constant use for 4 years. I only had to replace them because my puppy liked them as much as I do. Only problem is lack of half sizes, I have to round up to get a pair that fits. I like the Z2 a bit better as the toe straps helps to keep your foot from slipping forward.

Bought these to replace a worn out pair of Tevas, which has been the only brand of sandal I've worn for many years. The crossover design, particularly for the big toe, takes a couple days of getting used to. But the extra security and adjustability (without worrying with velcro) is well worth it. Highly recommended for any outdoor activity that doesn't require toe protection.

Takes a little getting used to...
June 15, 2011

It took me a little bit of trial and error adjustment to get the toe loops adjusted to a point where they weren't uncomfortable and then a little bit more time to get used to the feeling. But, now that I've gotten used to them, I really like them. I've had other brands of water shoes and sandals and I definitely like these the best. They offer the best of both worlds, the security in the footbed of a water shoe with the openness of a sandal.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Like them even more than I thought I would!
August 30, 2010

These really are terrific sandals. They are comfortable, and the adjustability of the straps allows you to essentially make a custom fit based on your own foot. I own a pair of Keens, and while they are comfortable and the toe protection has its advantages, they also make my feet sweat, which is not a problem with the Chacos. I won't be throwing away the Keens, but I'll definitely be wearing the Chacos a lot more.

Most Comfortable, Supportive Sandal In The World!
April 02, 2010

I got these for my 22-year old son. He has been wearing Chacos since he was 14 and worked at Scout camp (where he got introduced to them by the counselors who wore them). Now he won't wear any other sandals. He wears these as much of the year as he can - until it snows usually. He camps, hikes, and rafts in them too. He has been wearing Z-1s. This is his first pair of Z-2s and he can't get over how comfortable they are; he didn't think anything could beat the comfort of the Z-1s!

Crossfit

Chaco Z/2
May 10, 2010

I just purchased the Chaco Z/2. I have owned a pair of the Z/1 model for several years. I have heard great things about the toe strap on the Z/2--providing greater stability on challenging terrain. I put my Z/2's to the test last week with the flooding in Nashville. I used them in raging waters and in muddy conditions on rescue and clean up missions. The Z/2's rock.

Best Purchase Ever
June 20, 2011

This product is a comfortable, warm-weather shoe. They can be worn for walking everyday, rafting (much better than those hideous water shoes), hiking and much more! I recomend this shoe for everyone!!

Pros: Great value

Love 'em
August 12, 2010

These are the best sandals. This is my husband's 2nd pair of the same style; he just wore out the pair that he had for 6 years. They endured lots of wear and still the vibram never wore through. I have a pair myself and I love them too. Super investment for the money!!

You can never go wrong with Chaco
May 28, 2011

I have been wearing Chaco Sandals for several years. The Z2 Sandals are just as comfortable as the others. Chaco's have the best Arch Support of any other sandals made. I will be using the Z2's for a week long trip down the Colorado River I bought these because once you put them on and tighten down the straps , they will not slip off. The Vibram sole is another great feature . Chaco use to have Vibram soles on all their sandals . I would recommend them to anyone.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever

Great sandals
May 05, 2011

The Z/2 sandals are exactly what I was looking for. I have long, narrow feet, and it was really hard to find sandals for my size 16 foot. I was a little worried about ordering a 15, but I figured that if my toes were a little closer to the edge it would be ok. Upon receiveing the sandals, I could immediately tell they were well made and sturdy. At first, the area where my heel sat in the sandals was really narrow and uncomfortable, and it piched the area just in front of my heel, enough that after walking around my room I was ready to send the things back. Since I already had ordered the biggest size, however, I decided to keep them on a little longer and hopefully they would soften up and expand a little. Well, they did! I just kept trying to break them in, and they finally conformed to my foot. My worry about them being too short for my feet turned out to be null, as they still have about 1/2" to spare from the end of my big toe to the tip of my sandal (which I have found is helpful in protecting my toes a little bit). My intention was to buy these for fishing, kayaking, and just knocking around this summer, and after testing them out in the water these are perfect for it. I had read a little bit about people backpacking, hiking, etc. in these, and I did not buy these with the intention of doing that, but after walking up and down a lot of hills I do not think I would want to spend much time in steep terrain with these, as the toe loop really digs in hard when I walk downhill making it very uncomfortable. Otherwise, I really like the toe loop for the added stability it gives. They are actually even very comfortable to run in! Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and I would recommend these to someone looking for a rugged, comfortable sandal.

Awesome Chacos!
May 04, 2011

These sandals are exactly what I was looking for. They are durable, comfortable, and stylish. You get what you pay for if you decide to purchase these Chacos! I usually wear a Men's size 9 in all other brands of shoes, however with Chacos I had to order a Men's size 8. My suggestion is to try them on at a store to make sure you have the right size before purchasing them at altrec.com.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever
