Mighty 'little' pack
August 13, 2012
I was worried that this 35 liter pack would be a little small for an overnight trip, but with all of the room inside and all of the straps and compartments on the outside I was able to pack everything I needed for an overnight trip. The material is stretchy and makes this pack seem more like a 50 liter pack once you get everything in. I was able to pack my sleeping bag, stuff sack, 2 liter bladder(full of water), way too much food (for two people) and all of my hygiene items in the main compartment. Threw a few trail items in the easy access top compartment, strapped my sleeping pad on the bottom and still had room for my water bottle, camera and gps in the hip strap and side pockets. Also carried a hatchet, small handgun, and small hiking shovel in the outside pockets. My hiking partner carried the tent, but I could have easily strapped a small backpacking tent to the side of my pack. My pack weighed around 30 lbs, once packed, but once I adjusted the straps it felt more like 15 on my back, and rested right on my lower back (I'm 5' 6"). The straps were super comfy, and the vented back area kept my back from getting hot. All of the zipper pulls are easy to pull and feel like they are going to hold up a long time. I also liked that the whistle was integrated into the chest strap for easy access in an emergency. Didn't use trekking poles on this trip, but did notice that the holders felt strong and durable.Pros: Build quality
