Description

Taking the iconic, best selling jacket and expanding it into an entire line, the Columbia Men's Bugaboo Tech Parka continues as the anchor piece, but with added technical features to trumpet it into new classic status. This updated 3-in-one jacket has all the bells and whistles you want for tackling the big mountain, and the coolest of styling when you take it down to the streets. This men's parka's bulletproof waterproof-breathable shell is Omni-Tech treated with fully taped seams to lock out the elements, while pit zip venting promotes internal air circulation. Adding an Omni-Heat® thermal reflective shell lining that returns body heat for 20% more warmth, new welded seam construction helps to minimize weight. Delivering unbeatable warmth, its double weave softshell liner jacket stands elegantly alone in moderate temps, and zips into the shell jacket for a weather beating combination that will keep you dry and comfortable during serious shredding days on the slopes. Performance details include a removable, adjustable storm hood, goggle – media –hand – chest pockets, a micro-chamois chin guard and articulated elbows for exceptional mobility. The Bugaboo jacket's dropped tail design gives you added protection from a cold smoke powder blow back, as welded seams define a clean, streamlined silhouette. The new standard in a 3-season component jacket, The Columbia Sportswear Men's Bugaboo Tech Parka displays exposed overlay tape to compliment its sporty design lines for a technical flare that doesn't take it over the techy top.

Title says it. This is a solid purchase. Whether you're a skier or boarder, or an avid year-round backpacker, this jacket provides total warmth and keeps you completely dry. Columbia's OmniTech is brilliant, and the 3-in-1 delivers more than just a jacket. Worth every penny.

Quality and Quantity

The Bugaboo Tech Parka Is everthing the description says and then some! Purchased this parka after trying the lahtose parka and the Melting point and the Bugaboo has a little of both rolled into one.The 3 point zipper in liner, with omni heat and waterproofness plus the styling make this parka a great buy at a great price. It's comfort range with only a long sleeve shirt underneath is around 19 degrees, which in Chilly Philly is great! As soon as I picked it up to put it on I could feel and see the Quality put into making this parka.I'm tough on outerwear and I'm sure this parka will stand the test of time. You can also pair it up with Columbia's mens HellFire Down jacket which is 3 point and zipper in compatible for super warmth! What a Buy!! Thankyou.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, zipper in and 3 point interchagable

Good
December 12, 2011

Ordered this product a few weeks ago and was a little concerned because it seemed so much thinner than a lot of winter coats. Put it to the test this morning with the temperature at 33 degrees a wind chill. Man, I was surprised how warm it was! I'll be getting a lot of use out of this coat! The design of the hood is also a plus as it doesn't keep blowing off my head like my last coat. Very happy with my purchase now. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that is does run a little snug, though not horribly so, and it could use more pockets. I'm very big on pockets.

Out with old, in with the new
January 23, 2012

I purchased this Columbia jacket to replace another Columbia that is going on 7 years old. It's funny though, the style of that 7yr old jacket is more modern than the current Columbia jacket styles. That is it was, until I seen this Tech Parka - finally some style! I really like the shoulder graphic accents this jacket has! The jacket is typical top o the line Columbia. What used to be called Titanium, is now OmniTech - Taped seams, covered zipper flaps, waterproof, windproof, excellent construction. I love the snow skirt thing around the waist that allows a tight barrier to the elements and wind below your waist. There are some newer features on this jacket one of which is the inferno pocket. This is basically a front pocket lined in the new OmniTech reflective dot material. I haven't had a chance to use them with gloves, but I will say with your bare hands the OmniTech isn't the most pleasant surface. If your hand is the least bit chapped, or rough, the OmniTech will yank on that piece of skin like a handnail. Weird if you ask me, you would think this would have been a situation occuring often during product testing. I often put my bare hands in the jacket pocket to fish for some object and this really bothers me. The insulating quality of the OmniTech seems to be adequate, but I still miss the cozy fleece feeling of the interchange liner. OmniTech makes the coat thinner and a thinner, sportier cut to the jacket is nice. The new style and tape graphics on this jacket are very appealing. I am 6'1" and 170 and I first bought a Large which was way too big. I returned it to Altrec and ordered a Medium which fits, in an athletic fitted shirt kind of way.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value, Cons: scratchy inferno pocket

Great winter jacket
January 20, 2012

I've had this jacket for about three or four months now. I'm 5'8" / 138lbs and I bought a large. I like my clothing to fit a bit big/baggy so I can move around and not feel restricted. A medium would be a perfect fit. I have been wearing my jacket to work and it is a very dirty/dusty environment and the jacket doesn't hang on to dirt... easy to keep clean...even in black. I've owned several Columbia "three in one" type jackets and this is my favorite. The inner jacket of the other jackets I've owned looked cheesy on their own. The inner jacket of this one looks really good by itself. The chest pocket is big enough to hold my sunglasses, a smartphone, and still have room for other stuff. It tightens up around the waist to maximize the heat retention. The inner jacket is quite as durable as the outer shell. It is not flimsy material, but doesn't seem to be sewn as well and had a couple strings I had to cut off. Other than that small complaint, I'm completely satisfied.

So Far So Good

The omni heat feature really seems to know how warm my body needs it. Craftsmanship is excellent, I'm looking forward to some really bad weather. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is I haven't really gotten to use it enough.

Poorly Design Jacket
September 22, 2012

Jacket is poorly design. It has all of the inside pockets on the left side of the jacket. Hence, when they are filled, these pockets make the jacket huge on one side and content weight of pockets forces jacket askew on the left side. Also, jacket should have an inside pocket for the inner jacket as well as 2 pockets on the outer top front (breast) part of the jacket. Finally, to make the jacket more comfortable, it should have double zippers like a Spyder jacket. Columbia used to design its jackets with all of these features. My old Columbia Titanium jacket had them, but I guess they have gone cheap and tried to save money and increase profits at the sacrifice of quality.

Cons: Bad design, Poor quality, inside pockets all on left side, not enough outer pockets, needs double zipper
