Built with Columbia Omni-Shade, the Columbia Cliff Lakes Cargo Shorts for Men include built-in sunscreen so you can stay out longer. You're on your own with the bare legs. Be smart out there.

- Side-elastic waistband
- D-ring detail
Fit Tip: These shorts will sit at or slightly above the top of the knee in the 9" inseam version. The size medium will fit a 34" waist perfectly with the side-elastic waistband stretched to about 75% of its total length. The side-elastic waistband is comfortable and non-constricting, even over a full day of wearing these shorts. These shorts allow for a full range of leg movement with little to no restriction.

My husband bought a pair of these at a high end tourist type store in a resort community. He liked them so much that he went back for more, but they were out of his size so we found them available from Altrec and were thrilled they were less expensive so he bought two more pairs.

I've bought a number of these Columbia shorts over the past couple of seasons. They seem to be just the right length - not too long (I don't like them over the knees) and not too short. They're also just baggy enough to be really comfy and tough enough for most any outdoor activity. Plus, after a few washings the canvas gets really soft and broken in. I live in them year round and mine have usually held up for two or three years of constant wear before they need replacing. Highly recommended.

I first bought a pair at the local Big 5 sports store. I love all the pockets and am able to easily carry phone, pda, camera, and wallet without the "overly bulky" feeling.
I was worried when they started to get "ratty" and I couldn't find them locally again. Luckily, Altrec sells them at a decent price and so I have two more pairs!
Hopefully, these shorts will be available when I need another pair or two.

These shorts are fantastic. They have an elastic waist and many pockets that will hold cameras, phones, etc. The best feature is the length, they have a 7 in inseam, which is very difficult to find in any shorts anymore. I have looked all over for these shorts in local retailers and online and very pleased with both the quality and the price of these shorts. A must buy.

I wear cargo shorts quite often since my retirement. I tend to be quite picky when it comes to the brand I'm willing to purchase. I've tried other brands and have been somewhat disappointed. Trying to find a pair of Columbia cargo shorts on a retailers shelf has become a challenge where I live. I bought 4 pairs of these Cliff Lakes Columbia Cargo Shorts to meet all my needs. To wit, elastic in the waist, deep front pockets to carry misc items such as cameras wallets, keys etc. in a comfortable manner. After trying many other brands I find this particular cargo short the best one for me. I find them to be very comfortable even when I have numerous items in my pockets. I will always buy this style of Columbia shorts.

My husband wears these cargo shorts to work as a contractor. They look nice and seem to be well made to hold up to the physicality of his work. His one complaint is that he would have preferred the inseam to be just a tad longer like his previous work cargo shorts were.

I now have 6 or 7 pairs of Cliff Lakes shorts and love them in summer. So easy to carry all the stuff (wallet, keys, camera, phone, mp3, etc etc). They wear great and last forever. My only issue is that the waist size varies from color to color. Obviously, not a big enough issue to keep me from buying them.

They are 7 inch inseam, which means it barely covers the thigh halfway and at 6'3 it makes me look like a 1970's basketball player! Incidentally my wife actually loves them and they are very handy for hiking or around town. Altrec has a great price, but order now...the shipping takes a while.

I have owned this particular model of shorts for a couple years now. I have a short inseam and the 7 inch inseam in these work out great. After planning a trip to Disney for the summer, I decided I needed more of these. No luck finding them anywhere locally like my previous purchase of these shorts. I stumbled across Altrec, saw the sale price and ordered 4 pairs. They arrived in a reasonable time frame and were well packaged. This newer version is now in Small, Medium and Large vs. the old method of waist in inches. If you wear either the old 34 or 36 inch waist, the Medium will work for you. These new ones are just as well done as my older ones with an updated material. I did have to return one pair for a manufacturing defect in a leg hem but Altrec was great. They e-mailed me a return shipping label and shipped the replacement pair free. You can't beat that!! I did notice that one of the pair seemed more like the 9 inch length but it still worked ok. Out of 4 pairs, one bad hem and one apparently mislabeled pair does not inspire the same level of confidence as before. For this reason, they get 4 stars instead of 5, however, I love the shorts and hope they continue making this model.
50lb Pack - 2009-10-26Good Shorts, thin linings in main pockets
These aren't so good for putting your small stuff in... like keys or a lighter, camping items as in a pocket knife or mini-mag; they wore through after a short time like maybe a month? Pretty citified for a Columbia "outdoor" product. I would expect this quality at Target.
