These are my go-to shorts
I have been wearing this model shorts for a few years now and they are my go-to brand and model. They are comfortable, durable, and priced right when purchasing from Altrec. I only wish that there were more colors readily available. I would recommend these shorts to anyone.

Columbia Cliff Lake Cargo Shorts
I've been buying these shorts for several years now and I have to say that I've never been disappointed. The true to size fit and comfort ( expandable waist band ) can always be counted on with the Cliff Lake shorts and combined with the durability this product can be used for any activity from yard work to golfing. My hope is that Columbia continues to make the Cliff Lake Cargo shorts.

Great Cargo Shorts
I found these shorts to be very durable and comfortable. They are made with a nice thick cotton material that should last through many washings. The number of pockets should make these shorts very handy for household projects, but the pockets themselves are a little tight. Fit and finish is excellent so far. A Large size is perfect for a 37" waist. The transaction was great - easy to order and very fast delivery. I am very pleased.

Hard to Find
I have used this brand and style of shorts for over 10 yearsw. I have found no other comparable shorts in quality, wear, and style. I use thes for hiking, walking, and golfing.

The only shorts are good shorts
This is the second time I have purchased these Cargo shorts from Altrec.com. I have found that some shorts with snaps often don't stay snapped. This is especially true for larger (overweight) men. These have buttons which means they can be worn without a belt. The pockets are in all the right places and choices of use, from small to large. I literally wear these about 360 days out of the year and they last the whole year. I will never wear any other brand. Altrec, please don't ever go out of business.

PERFECT SHORTS (almost)
I believe I am on my third generation of these shorts. I like them for a lot of reasons:
Slight elasticity in the waist for my adjusting girth. The front cargo pockets have single-point "hook & loop" fasteners so they are secure, yet you can open them easily. The slash pockets are roomy and easy to access. The rear pockets have single point fastener in the center, but no flap. I believe this makes them secure, yet easy to access (I hate trying to lift an "I want to stay closed flap" on my butt when trying to get my wallet out of or into the pocket). There is a "hidden" security pocket on the right side. No zipper or closure on it, but it blends in very well behind the slash pocket and it is deep enough so things you put in it won't fall out. WARNING: if you have very large hands, they won't fit into that pocket. I wear a size Large glove, and my hands are a tight fit.
The shorts have 5, wide belt loops. 7 loops would have been a very nice improvement.
The shorts are comfortable to wear and durable. The hems fall just above my knees, which is exactly where shorts should end. Longer than that and they are half-pants, shorter than that and you can guest star on Reno 911.

GREAT pair of shorts!
A young 59 year old,6'1' and 185 pounds finds these shorts to be a perfect fit! After researching and looking at various shorts I picked these and got them within a day or so of my order. I opened the package and put them on...and left them on for a great afternoon hike! The shorts have great features for a long hike in the mountains or along the coast. They are my choice for an active outdoor day...and I've now reorder an additional pair!

Great Gear
I work as an air boat tour guide at Wild Willy's Air Boat Tours In Kissimmee FL.
These shorts are indestructible. They take a beating on six passenger boats 12 hours a day in the swamp. They are cool in the blistering heat of the Florida summer and stains are easily washed out. So far after a years use they have faded very little and haven't even lost a button.

Ideal edition of hard-to-find item
Whatever happened to decent cargo shorts with 7-9" inseams? My erstwhile favorite retailer in Maine has nothing in these sizes except with pockets too small. Enter Columbia, whose Cliff Lakes 7" shorts are perfectly sized for the short of stature, and with cargo pockets large enough to hold a wallet along with a ballpoint pen. Living in these shorts all summer and into the fall.

Nice short
My dad is over 6' tall and loves these shorts because the inseam is fitting. The colors match all of his shorts; he wears khaki shorts and polos every day! The pockets are great too so he can put all of his stuff in there!

Excellent Purchase
I have always worn columbia shorts. After finding out it was hard to get the Armitage shorts, I decided to try the cliff lakes. They are very comfortable and durable. They have alot of pockets on them and they look GREAT!

great shorts
My husband loves these shorts & they are becoming hard to find. Columbia doesn't even have them on their website anymore. I did find a pair in one of their outlet stores, but he wanted more colors & we were so happy to find them on Altrec in several colors. We ordered two pairs & will probably be back for more! They are comfortable & very durable. He loves the side elastic. Great service from Altrec, too!

The ultimate cargo shorts
The cut is very comfortable and the deep pockets keep things secure. The 7" length gives unrestricted movement but provides enough protection for hiking. The cloth is soft and pliable yet durable. Great for travel. Can wear in a casual restaurant or hit the hills. Perfect shorts. I have 5 pairs.

Great Casual Shorts
I recently ordered two new pair of these shorts after I broke the zipper on a pair that was around 6 years old. The zippers on the newer pairs appear to be more durable. The heavy duty fabric on the old pair was still not showing any signs of wear. That durability of the fabric is one of the features that appeals to me about these shorts. A second feature is that at 5' 8" and a medium build these are among the very few shorts that fit me well. Having reached an age where my waistline fluctuates a little, the bit of elastic on either side of the waist band also helps to ensure a good fit.

Made to Last
It's summer, and my husband virtually lives in his Cliff Lakes Cargo shorts. I have seen him work, camp, and backpack in the same two pair of shorts for the last 4 years. Although they are extremely durable, I insisted he purchase new ones, or at least some new colors. He is very particular on fit and claims they are the most comfortable shorts he has found. Columbia makes a quality product, adding secure deep pockets and an elastic waist that adjusts to his larger frame (XXL). Personally, I can vouch for ease of washing and stain removal, on the rare occasion he relinquishes them to the laundry basket!

Cliff Lakes Shorts
I finally found them. I have been looking for cargo shorts that fit me (5'5") and I finally found them. These are excellent! The fit is perfect, the inseam is just right, and they hang the way I wanted these type of shorts to hang. I did my first round of golf and they were very comfortable. Can't wait for the hike next week.

Durable Outdoors Shorts
I bought several pairs of these shorts years ago and decided I needed to stock up on a few more pairs. The old ones are still going strong, but I was looking for a longer inseam.
They are an almost indestructible pair of shorts, with tons of pockets for anything you need to have at hand for a day's hike or whatever.
The sizing on these shorts are a it odd. The small is a tad snug but the medium is too large for me. Otherwise, great.

I wear these all year round. My suit and my casual wear are these shorts. The shorts are durable and comfortable. I wear these shorts throughout the year - summer, fall, winter and spring, but thats California weather.

Only shorts I'll Wear
Cliff Lakes Cargo shorts from Columbia are the only short that I'll wear. Love the relaxed waist band and the overall fit. These shorts are hard to find locally, so I was glad to find them at Altrec at a great price.

COlumbia Cliff Lakes Shorts
My husband is a fan of the Columbia Cliff Lakes shorts, but prefers tthe 7in inseam to the 9in. We have searched EVERYWHERE for these shorts over the past few years and finally found them. They are an excellent fit, high quality, and a grat value. He has a few pairs of these that we bought close to 10 years ago and they are a little worse for wear, but still going strong.

LOVE these shorts!
Purchased these same shorts about 4 years ago. (I wear these year-round, as I work in a very hot warehouse.) They're practically indestructible. The thing that I love the most is that they are available in 7 inch inseam length--very hard to find other places! PLEASE DON'T EVER STOP CARRYING THESE (especially in the 7 inch inseam option)!!!

Columbia Cliff Lakes Shorts
As a long time wearer of Cliff Lakes II shorts I needed a similar short with a 7" inseam. These shorts are not identical to the Cliff Lakes II short, but they are extremely close. I usually wear a size 38 and the large in this short fits well. These shorts do seem a little less generous in the leg. Overall a very nice short and a great replacement for the Cliff Lakes II.

Best Shorts I own
I have been wearing cliff lake shorts since 2004. I have short legs and most of the shorts available in stores look terrible on me or they are silly expensive. The 7in cliff lakes fit great and are super functional. I have been unable to find them for the last few years until I came across altrec. I purchased 2 new pairs and have been wearing them for work since the day they got here. The pockets are huge and hold a ton of stuff. The best part about these shorts is they last forever. I still have 2 pairs left from 04. They have seen better days but are great for yard work. Customer service at altrec was great and I will be ordering 3 more pairs of these shorts while I can find them.

Great in Town or on the Trail
My biggest problem with shorts these days is the length. Usually way to long for my 30" inseam. The Cliff Lake cargo shorts (7" inseam) were just right. Allowing me to show off my great looking knees. Fit seems to be spot on. Build Quality appears first rate. Good looking, even stitching. Numerous deep pockets. The only drawback for hiking... they're cotton. That being said, I still like them for that purpose.

Very pleased overall, including quality and customer service. The Columbia shorts fit well and the quality of the material seems to forecast durability. The depth of the front pockets is unique and will have tons of different uses, though would like to see flaps on the rear pockets. The elastic inserts in the waist band make the fit very comfortable, and the leg length is perfect.

Great shorts!
My son had finally worn out his old pairs of these shorts and we could not find new ones anywhere, until I found altrec. I was so thrilled to find these shorts that I ordered several pairs and plan to get more. My son says they have the best pockets and hold all the things that teenage boys have in their pockets.
I did talk with customer service before ordering and they couldn't have been nicer. Shipping was free (due to my order total) and the shorts arrived very quickly.

love these shorts
I love these shorts. I continue to look for cargo shorts, but these are the only ones that I keep coming back to. They are hard to find, however, (I usually find them in obscure shops while on vacation), so I was very pleased to find them at your shop on line. They are comfortable, durable and I love the design. They do run a little large as I normally purchase XL when I buy other shorts. But that's okay, as I've learned to purchase large when I buy these. Please, please do not stop carrying them.

Indestructable but material is too heavy
Very well made shorts. Extremely heavy fabric. Way too hot to be considered good for summer.
The pockets are nice and deep. These would be good shorts for someone working in the building trade. For the casual wearer, these shorts are just too stiff and too hot to be enjoyed.

I have been wearing these shorts for over 5 years and are one of my favorite. I highly recommend for the outdoor enthusiast or just plane old hanging out shorts. They are stylist shorts as well to be worn at the gulf clubs, Cafe's and restaurants.

I have worn this brand of shorts for over 10 years. They look great hold up great and have not found anything better. I would recommend this to anyone especially if you want a short that is flexible in the waistline. Having a belt loop just makes these shorts that much better.

Columbia Cliff Lakes II shorts
I have enjoyed wearing Columbia shorts for years. The Cliff Lakes II are my favorite. Very comfortable fit, durable, stylish, and a great value. The fabric is cool in the summer and I like the ample pocket storage. Mt preference is the 9" inseam. i wear them casually around town or the golf course or on my stream trout fishing trips. I recommend them for sure.

A superb pair of shorts
I purchased these shorts for a cruise and planned to wear them on extremely active shore excursion. Not only did they perform perfectly they proved to be extremely durable and very comfortable. I felt cool in a very hot climate and had plenty of pocket space for my phone, camera, and the various items most people pack on such outings. I love these shorts and am ordering another pair in another color.

Love These Shorts
Best shorts I've ever owned. Very comfortable. They clean up easy, don't shrink after washing and get more comfortable each time I wear them. Durable soft canvas material moves with you as you play and is not restictive at all for bigger or athletic guys like me. Lots of room in the thighs and just enough stretch in the waist make these the last pair of shorts you'll ever want to buy.

Cliff Lakes cargo shorts
In my opinion, these are the best leisure shorts you can buy. They last for years and develop a nice worn look as they age. I especially like the fact that they have elastic inserts in the waste. I have worn the same size shorts (Lg) when I weighed 185lbs and all the way up to 220lbs. Yes, I should learn how to quit eating seconds and thirds!

"Real" Cargo Pockets
When I buy cargo shorts, there is one quality that I look for above all others. I want to have cargo pockets that are big and therefore functional. When I travel or am out on the trail, I need to have pockets that will carry a water bottle or perhaps a short umbrella. Today, most so called cargo shorts have pockets that are not worthy of the term "cargo". Often, there is barely enough room for a wallet. For several years, I have tried to find cargo shorts with pockets big enough to do the job. It has been surprisingly difficult to find them. These shorts have the pockets I want and need. The nice quality of construction is a plus. I am very happy with these shorts, and hope Columbia will continue making them for years.
I have a 40 inch waist. "Large" is the correct size for me.

Nice rugged shorts
My husband has been wearing the Columbia Cliff Lake shorts for years. He does A/C work and loves the various pockets, especially that pockets velcro and that the side pockets are very deep. Also the pockets are all the canvas fabric so they wear longer than shorts with just a lined pocket. He does wear them out but they last much longer than any other shorts he has bought (he is VERY hard on clothes). And he likes the length - not too long (He is 6 ft but a lot of cargo shorts are too long for him). He wears them for work and play --I'll be buying more....

Amazing shorts!!
Columbia Cliff Lake shorts are not only comfortable, but they are also good looking and wear like iron!! I have some Cliff Lake Shorts that are more than 5 years old, and they really don't show a bit of wear!! These are the only shorts that I wear whether I'm camping, hiking, or just hanging out. You can easily dress them up, or dress them down......they just look great in any environment.

Columbia 7" Shorts
These shorts are hard to find from Columbia with 7" Inseam. They hold up very well and are very comfortable with the the elastic waist. I wish you would continue to stock or tell Columbia to keep making these shorts. Shorts with the cargo pockets are wonderful.

Great comfort and rugged shorts!
I bought the medium sized navy blue Cliff Lakes Cargo shorts and they are very comfortable and have a rugged style to them. I like the deep pockets and the roominess of the cargo pockets. I want the peat moss color in size medium with 7 inch inseam next, but it seems to be out of stock. Oh well. I can wear these forever and not get tired of them. Very pleased with the purchase.

Great Cargo Shorts
The Columbia Cliff Lakes Cargo Shorts are about the best cargo shorts I've owned. The 7 inch inseam is just about right and it allows my knees to get some sun tan without having to take my shorts off. The pockets are numerous and top quality.

When you're 5'8" and under if you shop the stores, you're going to wind up wearing capris. I like shorts to be above the knee not below them. Really nice thing about finding Altrec is being able to have a choice when it comes to inseam in Columbia shorts.
