Description

A lightweight, versatile wind shell jacket, the Columbia Men's Cougar Peaks II Jacket is the perfect layer to pack for travels abroad and trips into the backcountry. An outer shell is made from nylon for windproof and water-resistant protection. Lined with soft polyester mesh, you'll have a moisture-managing layer next to your skin if you layer this windbreaker on over a T-shirt. The hood rolls up and stows away in the collar for a more streamlined look and a drawcord at the hem cinches tight to help seal out cold breezes. If you start to work up a sweat while hiking, a vent at the back of this wind jacket helps increase airflow to keep you dry underneath. Hand pockets and a zippered chest pocket offer secure storage for travel documents, maps and snacks. The sporty, outdoor style of the Cougar Peaks II Jacket for men looks great with jeans or nylon zip-off pants, and is sure to be a favorite piece from Columbia Sportswear.

cougar peaks jacket
November 02, 2011

this jacket is very nice, it is just what i was searching for, not too heavy, but not so lite, with excellent wind resistance, i have yet to use it in rain, the pockets are nice and roomy and in the right place. i would prefer the hood to be a roll down instead of in the collar, but other than that i really like it, i just might get another one in a different color.

Nice addition to light rainwear
October 27, 2010

This is a classic Columbia garment. True to fit. Cut a little a generous, but most would know who own Columbia. Very good for rain in mild weather conditions. Styling is nice, and the price couldn't be any better. Would buy again. Good purchase.

October 21, 2011

The performance is really good. I tried it in the rain and basically a really excellent water protection. The price is good and free shipping is a plus! However, the only problem is that it is a little larger than usual. Besides, it is a little slight.

good but a little bit large
October 12, 2010

The quality is very good but a little bit larger than normal size. If you want to buy this coat maybe you can choose a smaller size.

Just right
March 29, 2010

I needed a jacket for when the weather is misty, like a light rain fall. This jacket fit the bill. The water drops just roll off of it. It also blocks wind. I guess you can call it a water-proof windbreaker. Too light for heavy storms; you'll definitely need something much more "heavy duty" for that. If what you're searching for is something comfortable, packable and suitable for a cool drizzling day (or night), the Columbia Men's Cougar Peaks II Jacket is JUST WHAT YOU NEED.

This jacket is very comfortable. Great for outdoor activities that require resistance to water and wind. Comfortable fit and easy portability. Very convenient for this price.

light and good fitting
August 31, 2010

This product is good fitting and water-repellent and wind-breaker. it is good to go out in windy or rainy days and very light to carry in your bag. If you are looking a light one I recommended this jacket, if you wanna a heavy one it is not yours. I liked it so much.

Not a very practical shell.
October 16, 2010

You get what you pay for. Don't plan on doing anything remotely active while wearing this shell. I used it while downhill skiing at a resort. Despite never feeling overheated, I ended up damp under the shell after one run. It does not breathe.

October 17, 2009

Great jacket and great price. Didn't ship as fast as I supposed it would but no problem with that.

Awesome Jacket!!!
October 06, 2009

For $30 you cannot beat this jacket. The material is thin and it is an excellent windbreaker. I haven't used it in the rain yet, but it is surprisingly warm for a thin windbreaker. My only complaint is that I bought it in black and in the picture the jacket says "Columbia" in white stitching but on the actual jacket it is stitched in black. Other than that, it rocks.

Great!

November 24, 2010

Works very well as a wind breaker, water repellent but not water proof. Add a light sweater underneath and it's a three season jacket. Over all a good light shell.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

great rain jacket for me !;-)

keeps wind and rain OUT
November 06, 2009

I always have had good luck with Columbia products; quality is well above average and they stand firmly behind their products. For this reason, I excluded jackets from other companies while looking for a new windbreaker because I knew I could expect good things from Columbia. As lightweight jackets go, this one functions nearly perfectly. Just put a microfleece on underneath and you're ready for wind and rain. Ventilation could be a bit better, but that would require some zippered vents, which would drive up the cost. With the back vent, ventilation is adequate. Adjustable cuffs are also missing, but for the price, there is probably no better jacket of this kind available, unless you should get rather lucky at a second-hand store.

Great Jacket for Great Price
November 18, 2009

This was my first purchase from Altrec.com. I was really impressed with the jacket. Its light-weight but also does it job by keeping you warm and dry.

Great jacket!
December 23, 2009

At first, I wasn't sure about this jacket because of it's extremely low price. But when I tried it on, it was simply amazing! Water literally rolls off of it (and you can use it as an improvised water scooper) and what's more surprising is that it actually keeps you warm, despite how thin it is. I've also worn this when it was 37 degrees (considered cold here) with just a tee-shirt underneath. I would highly recommend this for anyone who would like a grab-and-go jacket for anything from rain, wind, or cold. I'll be wearing this when I go skiing and I'm sure this jacket will measure up!

Great jacket
December 16, 2011

This jacket is very comfortable. It has back vents that is helpful sometimes. It seems waterproof except for the seams and zipper. Moisture doesn't escape from the sleeves, so you might want to wear a long sleeved inner layer. Since it's very lightweight and packs down very small, it's a good one to carry on day hikes.

Pros: Ease of use

December 16, 2009

It fits well and slips on easy, doesn't keep you that warm, but its more of a everyday jacket than a winter one. I like it Easy to clean and practically stain proof

January 15, 2010

First of all about Columbia Mens Nordic Point Full-Zip Fleece Jacket. I own several other light weigh fleeces and I was looking for one more a comfortable light weight fleece. I really like the fleece feel. Three outside zipper pocket is ok, but it would be nice if they had an inside pocket. Bottom line for me Columbia fleece Jackets is the best. Now about Cougar Peaks. For me Columbia Sportswear Men's Cougar Peaks II Jacket is number 5 ( the best ), provides for me good protection from water. This water-resistant HydroPlus nylon is good thing, and its very light.

Perfect for what I needed it for
March 12, 2010

I was heading to Brazil and the fore[ca-st] was rain and hot (ended up raining every day). I needed a light weight rain coat. On the way to the airport I layered a hoody under it and it handled the February Michigan cold just fine. When we were in Brazil it kept me dry through everything from torrential downpours to light rain (while really hot and muggy). I was dry and comfortable for the most part. I was even able to wear it in the evening when it cooled down and I didn't look like I was wearing a ridiculous rain coat. I definitely recommend this jacket.

Good product, just not for my purpose
October 16, 2009

I ordered this jacket because I needed an inexpensive, high-quality rain jacket to ride my bike to campus in harsh conditions. It felt like a good jacket to wear if its just a little chilly, windy, or if you want to sweat a little more; however, it doesn't look like it will stop the elements as well as the thunderstorm jacket.

Decent jacket for the price
April 01, 2010

Good rain jacket and light weight. Thin enough to be packed in a backpack.

fair
January 31, 2010

After prolonged exposure to rain (more than two hours) the moisture tends to seep through. However, it is quite warm for an uninsulated jacket and for the most part it keeps out the wind. For the price it is a nice find.

Nice lightweight jacket for wind and water protection. Breathable good jacket for hiking in mild to cool weather.

Pros: Great value

ok but not great.
June 13, 2010

You get what you pay for, it's cheap and average. Just a small upper back mesh lining but it's light weight and fold-able. I still can't figure out if it was meant for folding into the pocket. Mesh pockets are nice. Remember there is no insulation in this jacket at all and very little room for an thick under layer if you buy your exact size. Buy one size bigger if you want to use as a shell in cooler weather. There is a lack of ample ventilation in this jacket too, no armpit vents just a small upper back vent where the mesh is located. I have not tested it in heavy rain just drizzle and it works for that.

This is a very high quality jacket.
February 16, 2010

Even though I am going to look for a better insulated jacket due to the weather changes, this item quality is very high, it will protect better than other that I used before. I will recommended to anyone.

good value for money
October 26, 2009

This my first time to purchase here. I'm satisfied with the quality of the coat. It prevents the rain and cold, though it is very thin.

A poor replacement for the Kelly Flats.
July 04, 2010

Excellent Jacket not sure why different prices
January 25, 2010

I think these are excellent jackets, got 2, black & navy blue, as another review, black had black logo stitching which doesn't make sense since you can't see logo. Light weight yet keeps you warm, not in major cold but will do windy to chilly, not freezing. Wish the collar did not pop up so much with hood in, lining a little thicker, & the pocket reinforced to hold w/o worry might make hole. but minor. Not sure why the difference in prices.

Great Jacket ant Service
October 27, 2009

This jacket is of a great quality, not to mention the great price! The hood stows away for those days when it's not raining and it's waterproof enough to wear when it's raining heavily. Love this!

Lightweight jacket for tropical weather
January 21, 2010

I enjoy hiking in the tropical forest, but it is sometimes a rain forest, cloud forest or even the dry forest. This is the perfect jacket for all this ecosystems: lightweight, rainproof and loose-fitted if you want to add layers (fleece, cotton, wool, etc.) underneath. I use it in urban areas as well, because it is also good looking and "cool".
