A great value for a 3-in-1 system
January 03, 2012

Let me first qualify this review by saying that I have a history of buying Columbia gear...it's not indestructible, but I find that by the time I've had it long enough for some aspect of it to fail, I'm usually ready for a new one anyway. I really like this coat...I really had two requirements that led me to it: 1) I really wanted to decent looking green jacket, and 2) I wanted a 3-in-1 setup (removable liner that can be worn on its own). Though the liner in this jacket is thinner than a full fleece liner, it's shockingly warm. The liner + shell keeps you very toasty at temps below 40 F, and above 50 F you would really be way too warm to wear both. The construction is solid, it has a very durable feel. The few chances I've had to test the waterproofing have been very positive so far. The pockets are in all the right places. Cons for me were that for me a Medium is the right size...but the waist of the coat is a little restrictive in this size. I also wish the front zipper was 2-way (able to unzip a zipped coat up from the bottom).

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great value, Cons: lack of two-way zipper

super warm winter jacket
January 07, 2012

I come from a tropical country so I have zero tolerance to cold weather. And this jacket is my primary survival kit :) It seems that those little silver dots are the secret to keep us warmer. Just like any Columbia product, it is pricey but worth every penny. This jacket is light and the lines of this jacket are flattering. Moreover, the shipping was quick. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for super warm winter jacket!

Good Solid Performance
May 12, 2012

Good jacket for season changeover due to layering capability. Fit is good, color is good, like the way it feels. Too bulky for air travel. Sorry I am not writing any more

Very Warm
December 15, 2010

This jacket was very warm and can stand to be in the teens or lower with ease. The only concern I had was the inaccessibility of the pockets, they were somewhat difficult to get into. The jacket also seemed to fit a little large and while I thought I would fall in love with it, I'm not sure that I did. The warmth is there, but perfection of the features leaves me wanting a little more for how much it costs.

Pros: Performance, Cons: Bad design
Warmth: 4 / 5

Great value for money
December 06, 2010

This product is great value for money. It provides you with a shell as well as a warmer jacket when used with the zip in liner. With the liner, it is a warm as any synthetic insulated jacket that I've owned - I bought this to replace a North Face Extreme insulated parka and the Columbia jacket is just as warm. I wear a helmet when skiing so I like the fact that this jacket has the option to entirely zip off the hood. One minor beef - with more ski resorts moving to RFID tags, it would be nice to have a passholder pocket high up on the sleeve or shoulder. The fit was fine for me (I'm 5'10", 150 lbs). The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is that it isn't quite the finish of higher quality jackets, but those jackets can be 2x the cost. All in all, this jacket is very functional, warm, has good fit and is great value.

Great Jacket

Good looking jacket and will keep me warm. Inner lining is a bit snug but I think it is supposed to be. I'm going up to Alaska and will test the item up there.
