Love these pants
September 24, 2010
Bottom line: these are great pants for a casual work environment. I've worked in a casual work environment for many years and have grown accustomed to shorts in the summer and jeans in every other season. When I bought my first pair of these Columbia's a few years ago, none of my other casual pants compared. They are an excellent choice for anyone looking for an everday casual alternative to jeans. They are becoming harder and harder to find as Columbia continues to introduce new products but I'll keep searching for these online until there are no more in my size!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
Columbia Fort Rock Pant are Great
May 15, 2010
Fort Rock pants fit great, are versatile and are very durable. They have a lot of storage pockets but yet don't feel bulky. These are by far my favorite pants. The material is durable and comfortable, not just a light material for work only type pants. They work great for everyday, not just at work or just hiking. I only wish they had more colors.

The Columbia Fort Rock Pant are some of the most comfortable pants I've owned. They work for almost all occassions. The sizes run true to size.
Columbia's best all-around pants
August 17, 2010
I really like these pants better than any other made by Columbia. The weight of the material is between a light and heavy weight cotton, so they are perfect all year. They look great with casual clothes or with a dress shirt and a sport coat. The inseam length was longer than advertised but I just hemmed them to the perfect length.
My favorite pants

I stumbled upon these pants on sale at a local sporting goods store. I knew nothing about them, but they looked well-made and the price was irresistible. I bought the pair and they fit perfectly--something that happens once a decade, for me. I wore them almost daily for a few months as they were perfectly cool in the summer but had enough weight to keep in heat during the colder months. Then I ruined the zipper pull by carrying my daughter's car seat--with her in it--and resting it on my belt. I was bummed. The store's stock of this model pants were long gone. All I knew about these pants was that they were made by Columbia--there were no other ID tags or a style name printed anywhere on the pants. After I searched the internet for hours, I eventually was able to match my pair to the Fort Rock pants on Altrec's site. I ordered two pairs as I was 95% certain that I had ordered the right pants. To my delight they matched the pants I had so cherished. I wound up ordering a third pair for fear of these ever being discontinued! No other pant has ever given me this amount of comfort and strength, all in a lightweight, all-cotton fabric. I can't say enough about how great these pants are in style, comfort, durability of the fabric, and colors. I work in these pants, I hike in them. It's what Levis 505's used to be to me--the pants for everything--until I just found jeans too uncomfortable for driving or hiking. The Fort Rock pant is the only pair of pants I need, unless the occasion calls for a suit. My single criticism would be that I wish the zippers were made of metal, not plastic. But I don't rest my kid's car-seat on my belt anymore--these pants are too dang good for such maneuvers!

I love the comfort and durability of these pants, but the best part is odd-numbered waist sizes.
Nice looking pants, fit is a bit small
August 19, 2009
These pants were shorter than the listed 34 inch inseam--I measured a bit over 33 inches. I have seen this before with Columbia pants. The 33 inch waist was also pretty tight, and with a snap rather than a button closure, they run the risk of popping open. However if they fit you, the price is pretty reasonable, and the look and the feel of the pants is nice--not too heavy-comfortable year round. Rugged, but also can even pass for "business casual".

Be aware all Columbia casual pants are not created equal. If you haven't worn these before, they are only midweight khakis.
Great pants....Very comfortable. Great price & great service.

I love these Columbia pants. The pocket on the leg is excellent for iphone and the zippered security pocket perfect for cash.

This is my favorite pant. The fabric is comfortable the pockets large and accommodating. The zip pocket on the front is great for securely storing the important things like passports and digital cameras.
Very good quality

I like my new Columbia Fort Rock Pant. Size run true to size. Color seems a bit different as it is presented. Probably they use more contrast. Anyway, for this price NO doubt. Thanks to Altrec.
Nice horizontal zip cargo pocket
March 12, 2010
The Columbia Men's Fort Rock Pant are a nice pair of pants for many reasons. My favorite feature is the horizontal zip cargo pocket, that is located on the right leg and has a little pocket inside of the main pocket which is perfect for storing your flashlight or cell phone.
Excellent quality pants with pockets for cell phone etc.

Well made. Very lightweight and breathable for when shorts aren't acceptable, these will do the trick. Attractive appearance as well.
My favorite Columbia pants

Columbia pants are my favorite brand and I have several styles, the Lander, the ROC, the Utilizer etc... The Fort Rock is my favorite of any of the styles. It is versatile for work or for casual wear and I like the medium weight of the material.

As with all Columbia pants, you never are quite sure what you're getting unless you've bought the exact style before. These are not heavyweight khakis, but the fit is good and so is the quality.Pros: Great value, Cons: lighter weight
