Life in the mountains is predictable only in its unpredictability. Warm spring days become suddenly raw and piercing, mornings in the office develop into afternoons on slope, lake, or singletrack. Be prepared for the unforeseen in the stretchy, wet-shielding Omni-Heat® Men's Tall Heatstream Softshell Jacket from Columbia Sportswear. The Heatsream’s sleek, versatile silhouette is complemented by great durability, breathability and stretch properties. It’s outfitted with an Omni-Heat thermal reflective liner, which captures and reflects your body heat to keep you an average of 20-percent warmer than traditional softshells. Omni-Shield advanced repellency creates a water-shedding barrier between you and the rain, snow, sleet, or whatever form the precipitation chooses to take at the moment. Zip-closed hand pockets and a chest security pocket provide ample storage for all your essentials.

omni heat
October 19, 2011

Bought this coat to replace the liner of my older two jacket system coat. I would recommend buying one size up as the jacket fits a little small. Omni heat is good really warm.

Too short
August 05, 2011

Not sure if this is Columbia's error or Altrec's error, however I am a skinny 6'4" tall person. So I expected the 'Tall' heatstream to be perfect for me. So I ordered the large because I am not too broad. Unfortunately this Large Tall jacket barely reached my waist, way to short to put even a t-shirt underneath without it sticking out. Seemed like a nice jacket just not nearly tall enough.

Pros: Great value, Cons: Bad design

Not tall enough!
May 12, 2011

Even though the jacked is billed as tall, the arms and body were too short for me. I am 6'4", 160 lb. The lining is a silver color and rather bold, especially contrasting the earthy outer color. I am returning the jacket.

Men's Heatstream Softshell Jacket
September 06, 2011

I have been looking for a Columbia OmniHeat jacket to try. I saw this one and read the reviews. Most reviews said it was short in length. There were only Tall Jackets in stock so I ordered one to try. I am 5'9" and 165lbs. The Large / Tall fit perfect, so they do run a little small. I normally buy a large regular in Columbia jackets. When compared to my other Columbia jackets (LG/ REG) it is the same length. The jacket is light weight but very warm, water and wind resistant. I will use as a base layer in really cold weather. Overall it is exactly what I have come to expect from Columbia, good quality, function and fit.

Pros: Build quality, Great value

great jacket with one minor issue
November 10, 2011

I am 6'1" 190 athletic build, bought a large good-great fit across shoulders, lightweight, water/wind proof, looks sharp, perfect amount of warmth when active from 20-45 F bad-waist hem cord is thin and poorly attached, seems to be a consistent thing with Columbia jackets. No taper for athletic builds.

Pros: Performance, Great value
Comfort: 5 / 5
Durability: 4 / 5

Omni Heat
September 26, 2011

This was a great purchase for me. I have had other soft-shell jackets that felt much more bulky, but did not feel as warm. I went on a fishing trip last weekend, and even with 50 degree temps, 15 mph winds and moderate rain, I was warm and dry with only a light shirt under the jacket. I am not on the hunt for pants to go with my jacket and previously purchased Omni Heat boots for this winters ice fishing season.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
