Description

Although it’s difficult to improve on near-perfection, we managed. The new Lhotse Mountain Parka features Omni-Heat technology for a much lighter-weight, warmer wear and Invizzip zippers for cleaner, more refined style. Still featuring nothing less than full seam sealing and our most advanced waterproof breathability, this Omni-Tech® jacket forms a crucial force field against wet weather and other winter elements. By using 57% recycled polyester in the shell’s lining, we reduce waste and create a more environmentally friendly product. When the sun comes out, simply zip off and store the storm hood. If the warming trend continues, the underarm venting system is ready. The Lhotse’s true bonus value comes in the form of the zip-in liner that boasts both Omni-Heat® insulation and thermal reflective lining for ground-breaking lightweight warmth.

Excellent detailing and has lots of pockets. Very warm, especially if worn with the liner in. The liner looks great worn by itself. CON: runs very small; order next size up for a better fit. I like the fabric used in the shell; it has a good look and feel to it.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value, Cons: fits small

Optimistic...
January 25, 2011

I haven't skied in it yet, but I can tell it's an upgrade from a coat I bought a couple years ago that was non-name-brand. This new coat looks to be of great quality. I read the reviews about it being small in the armpits, and I have to agree with that, but I like that feature because the coat doesn't ride all over when I move my arms. That said, the listed measurements for a medium SHOULD be too big for me, but this coat just fits me. Order up a size from normal. I cannot wait to ski in this coat!

The only jacket you need
February 23, 2011

I purchased this jacket just in time for the snow storms that hit the east! I got to compare it with the northface triclimate i had and honestly, i think the lhotse has a much better value. It does fit a little smaller so, i bought one size bigger like most of the other reviewers. It now feels like its half a size bigger but its very comfortable. It is very warm and i usually wear it with just a t-shirt inside. It seems very well made and is stylish as well. The do-it-all jacket is what it should be called. It will be the only jacket you ever need (unless its over 25degrees F: then jet a lighter jacket of a fleece) Finally, while the omni heat feature makes a very small but noticeable 20% difference in warmth, it make a huge awe in peoples faces when i open up the zippers and show them whats inside. They think its a jacket from the future. haha. dont even think, just buy it! you won't regret anything!!!

Absolutely Love It !!!
November 20, 2010

I received my package right on time. Prompt delivery service. I am completely happy with my new parka. Fits like a glove, not binding at all. Light weight & extremely warm. I wanted to test it out so I took it over to my uncles walk-in freezer at his meat market and to my amazement the colder we made the freezer the warmer the jacket felt. I love it. I can't wait to test it on the slopes this December.

Great winter jacket
February 16, 2011

I'm glad I bought this jacket. It replaced an older North Face ski jacket that's served me well over the years. I've always wanted to try another brand and I don't regret going with Columbia. The quality of their products have gone up over the years compared to other brands and it shows in all the technology they've included in this jacket. It has held up very well during the winter. After an hour spent shoveling snow, I unzipped it outside and I could see steam visibly emanating from my body and the lining. Incredible! Build quality is excellent and I expect it to last me quite a long time. Only downside is that the inner lining fits snug, so it will make the jacket feel smaller than it really is. I think it was designed like this to keep the body heat in. The outer shell is true to size though. Great value overall!

Great jacket - warm and built very durable. Sizing is a small - previous Columbia jackets that I've owned were a size medium - I had to go to a large with this model.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Son loves this jacket!
May 22, 2011

I bought this jacket for my son at Christmas and he says its the best gift ever. He attends college in Erie, Pa where the wind howls and it gets quite cold but he stays nice and toasty with this coat. I would say it runs a tad small so if in doubt go up a size for sure!

Nice jacket poor fit design.
January 31, 2011

This jacket is nice but the arm pits are way too tight. They feel like they are digging into me and makes it even more uncomfortable for layering. It's not like I'm a large person, 5'11 135lbs. Also, the arms are a little longer than other jackets I've owned of the same size(Medium). Besides that the jacket has a lot of nice features. The fabric seems like it will fairly water proof especially if it's like my Columbia Titanium snow pants which never seem to get wet. I stood out in the cold to test it's warmth before I decided to return it and seemed to be decently warm. I opted to go with a new Marmot since their jackets have plenty of room in the upper arm for a comfortable fit and also great quality.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Bad design, too tight arm pits

Very Nicely Made

A little tight in the chest, and I wish the pocket had one of those tethers so you can't lose things like keys, but otherwise, really nice and warm.

Nice jacket.
January 03, 2011

I bought this coat for my husband for Christmas...he is 6 ft, 170 lbs and says the medium is a little snug. I like the look of the jacket, but think the interior would look nicer in black (it is reflective silver, presumably for function). The bad part was that my Dec. 17th order was received on Dec. 29th.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: snug fit

Finally warm in the winter!
December 29, 2010

I purchased this jacket for the flexiblity of the liner and shell. After wearing this for a couple of weeks, here are some initial thoughts: 1. This jacket is warm, windproof, and waterproof. Recently, I spent 3 hours out in 15-20 degree weather with 25 mph winds with this jacket (liner installed) and a t-shirt. I stayed warm the entire time. 2. The jacket fits me a little snug in the shoulders, but probably the best out of any jacket out there. I am usually hard to fit due to years in the gym, so this is understandable. I ordered a XXL. If I got the next size up for the shoulders, the sleeves would be way too long - they are almost a little long now. 3. The liner fits snug (especially in my arms), but it is supposed to. The less room between you and the jacket means that you don't have to heat as much air. 4. I cannot comment on the durability as I have only had this jacket about 3 weeks, but I don't foresee any week points in this jacket

Great System-Sizing/Fit Needs Work
December 18, 2010

I tried to talk myself into keeping this jacket because the Omni-Heat concept is so warm and breathable. The problem is the inner liner is too small for the jacket. It binds in the armpits. I am 6'0 tall and 230. I ordered the XL just like my old Columbia Interchange of 10 years ago. If I went to the XXL the arms would be too long. There is also barely enough room in for a turtle neck if the liner is zipped in. Very disappointing because the system is just what I wanted.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Bad design

Jacket

Excellent jacket. Great breathability in warm weather but still is able to keep you very dry. Warm fleece lining easily able to be taken out. Great for hiking and snowboarding. An all around great jacket.

Great parka. Warm and dry, great for skiing. One small issue, the parka sizes fit small. ie I normally wear a medium but his medium fits tight. I recommend that when ordering buy one size up from what you normally wear. The purchase and delivery experience was great and the price was right. Thanks
