Description

Keep progression in your crosshairs in a jacket that pushes the limits along with you. The First Descents II Parka is a premium technical piece that steps it up with sweet style, advanced Omni-Heat warmth, and a host of other foul-weather-fighting artillery. Omni-Tech® waterproof-breathable fabric on the shell creates a wet-stopping barrier between you and the elements, while critical seams on the shoulders and chest are sealed to stop moisture short. Omni-Heat® thermal reflectivity on both the shell and the zip-in Interchange liner employ emergency space blanket technology to capture and retain your body heat while still breathing and wicking interior moisture.

The liner is also water-repellent and sports Omni-Heat thermal insulation, which has a soft, down-like feel and even more lightweight warming power. A removable powder skirt keeps out the deepest powder, and then harmlessly snaps to the jacket’s lining when not needed. The attached, adjustable storm hood features ingenious side stretch panels that make it super easy to pull on over your hat and goggles. Underarm vents zip open to disperse excess heat, and zip-closed hand and security pockets are rendered nearly invisible thanks to Invizzip™.

Awesome jacket, In fact, I seldom bought Columbia Jacket , I like Arc'teryx and Patagonia more, But my friends told me this jacket had many features: very warm, comfy, new tech from Columbia company, so I bought it, It is so amazing and stylish, moreover, it could provide me much warm in such a cold winter. Great Jacket, I am very satisfied with it.

I bought this jacket for my dad, he has huge belly, this jacket can cover his belly totally. Good quality with breathable back. It's not rain yet, so....don't konw if it's hurricane water proof.

Warm, great materials, well constructed. I'm 6', 165 lbs medium build. There is not much room in the body for heavy layering, sleeves are nice and long, no drafts.

Stylish and Warm Jacket!
January 31, 2011

After researching a few jackets I decided to buy this one. This jacket with Omni-Heat delivers what it says. I wear this jacket when I go snowboarding. During the last visit at the slopes, there was a snow storm. I was so glad that I had this jacket as it kept me completely warm while going up the lifts! I like the designing that it has multiple easy to reach pockets, to keep all the devices and personal things safely. I also like the interchangeable feature of the jacket, as I could always remove the outer jacket when I am inside.

Amazing Ski Jacket
March 12, 2011

I purchased the Powder Bowl Parka after much deliberation between the available Omni-Heat models. I was primarily looking for something I could take on a ski trip to North Carolina's Sugar Mountain Resort. I found the Columbia sizing chart easy to use. Based on my measurements of a 43" chest I chose the Large. I found its fit to be perfect for my body, especially using the inner liner jacket and a base layer. It works great as separate pieces too. I kept my iPhone 3GS inside of the velcro pocket with see through window. When I needed the time, it was easy enough to zip down a bit and press the home button to get the time displayed through the lining. Awesome stuff. There's room and pockets for everything you could possibly think of. You can tell that whoever designed this jacket knows what they're doing. It turns out that it wasn't all that cold, being in the 50's and 60's. I was impressed at the venting and the fact that I wasn't overly hot. I didn't wear the liner for two of the three days I was there and the coat still wore great and didn't feel too big without the liner. I can't recommend this enough. If you like the style and need something warm with a lot of pockets for accessories then it doesn't get much better.

Very Warm...Very Comfortable
January 09, 2011

I had heard great things regarding Columbia's Titanium line and am pleased to see it stands up to the hype. The Omni-Heat is extremely warm and really only necessary in subthermal temps with appropriate layering. In many cases only the shell is necessary and it is extremely durable and water resistant. Pocket/Storage placement is good but I wish Ipod access were a bit easier when the inside lining is installed. The jacket provides good flexibility for both skiiers and boarders. It is a bit expensive but most jackets in this quality/durability category are equal if not more.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance

Great jacket
January 10, 2010

This jacket is great, the shell has a cool stretch material to it that allows the jacket to move with me and the liner is almost to warm sometimes. Which is a good thing. I'm thrilled with this jacket.

Hot Jacket!!!
February 22, 2011

For my job I spend 5-7 days a week on the hill taking photos and producing media for the Summit at Snoqualmie. This means ether I am charging down the mountain keeping up with Professional skiers or sitting in a icy hole waiting for them to drop in. This said I have not been cold once this season while wearing this jacket. It truly is amazing how warm it is.

best columbia jacket ever
November 15, 2010

Currently going to school in laramie wyoming. Temperature has got down to -10 so far and with this jacket i dont even feel it. Tons of snow in the surrounding mountains and snowboarding is great in this coat. Powder skirt works awesome, tons of pockets, and ive been completely dry everytime i've worn it even when plowing threw 3 feet of powder. All in all a great jacket and i have no complaints at all. Well worth the price in my opinion.

Very Warm Jacket
February 22, 2011

I was looking for a jacket when I realized that my heavyweight fleece just wasn't quite enough on the -25 degree F mornings. This has never failed to keep me toasty. The synthetic liner is warmer and lighter than a fleece, and, if I actually am on the ski slopes the shell alone is usually enough to keep me dry and warm enough.

Keeps you warm
January 30, 2011

This jacket is the warmest one I have ever worn. The double layers of Omni-heat really keep the heat in. If it is not too cold and you get a little too warm, the underarm vents help rid excess heat and sweat. The only thing I don't like are the "Invizzip" zippers because they have too much zipping resistance which makes it hard to zip with one hand, especially zipping up the front or the pockets as the jacket just pulls up. Regular zippers and flaps would have been better. I would purchase this jacket again.

Excellent Jacket
January 03, 2011

Very nice jacket, fit is true to size and holds out wind, moisture and cold. The omni-heat in the shell and liner is great as is the insulation. Not deal breakers but the powder skirt is a bit on the small side although the rest of the jacket is about right (30" waist). the liner could look a little better on its own but thats not a big concern and the invisi-zip hand pockets are a bit low and had little frayed threads after only a few uses (quick hit with a lighter and that was fixed). Overall the little imperfections are nothing to worry about and the jacket does exactly what it should. The more active you are the more the omni heat works to keep you nice and toasty without cooking you.

Fits a woman too
February 25, 2011

I was one of the persons who got the chance to test this jacket in Columbia's freeze room. I wore it at -15 degrees fahrenheit for 5 minutes and it really kept me warm. I also wore their gloves and hat. Columbia makes jackets for women, too. Unfortunately they look like for schoolgirls, the colors are boring, so I had to have this men's. I bought size "small" and it fits me. The inside jacket could be a little bit bigger, it sits very tight and I shouldn't gain any weight. Besides that I love it.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
